[ACPI-sppt] Solution of: "Strange behaviour on Acer Aspire 1304XC"

on Friday 25 July 2003 I posted the following message:

"I experience a strange problem with my laptop:
On "normal operation" I get temperatures about 65 C, but if I go on battery
power and then back to ac power the temperature suddently raises (going over
79 C) and the fan starts, even if the cpu is idle.
When the battery is charging and charge raises 100% I get the same behaviour.
Switching in battery brings everything to normal (until you turn back to
ac-power)

It seems that I found a solution. After switching to ac power (or after 
battery achieves 100%) I issue the following command (explained in the 
"Athlon Powersaving HOWTO"):

# setpci -v -H1 -s 0:0.0 52=$(printf %x $((0x$(setpci -H1 -s 0:0.0 52) | 
0x80)))

and the temperature stops rising and falls back to normal.
This has to be done every time you switch to ac power or after battery has 
finished charging, so it would be a good idea to use acpid for this.
I also get lower temperatures (50 C)!!
