Well I've just recompiled my kernel and am now using 2.4.22 with built-in
ACPI! I guess I'll need to re-write the ACPI HOWTO to include this latest
information! Kudos to everyone who worked on this--it's going to make life
a LOT easier (and my document a LOT shorter). :) I'll leave the old stuff
in as an appendix, just for kicks.
Anything else that people want added while I'm doing the re-write? I
thought I'd include the descriptions of the kernel options that are
available under make menuconfig's "Help" options...

PS The following appears in my dmesg:
ACPI: Battery Slot [BAT0] (battery present)
ACPI: Processor [CPU0] (supports C1 C2 C3, 2 performance states, 8
throttling states)
ACPI: AC Adapter [AC] (on-line)
ACPI: Power Button (FF) [PWRF]
ACPI: Sleep Button (CM) [SLPB]
ACPI: Lid Switch [LID]
ACPI: Thermal Zone [THRS] (54 C)
ACPI: Thermal Zone [THRC] (48 C)
But acpi -V gives:
emmajane@debian:~$ acpi -V
Thermal 1: ok, 50.0 degrees C
Thermal 2: ok, 46.0 degrees C
No support for device type: ac_adapter
There was also an error message that flashed as I was insert modules re.
some value not being set (it was to do with temperature), but I can't seem
to find the message again...I've tried removing and re-inserting the
modules but it's not there...
