Mid-analysis: Major problem with PHP/MySQL and name resolution

Thus far, I think we've eliminated PHP from consideration as the problem. Not sure we're on the right track with the MySQL name resolving being the issue. We finally figured out how to view the host cache in MySQL and it was empty. It could be Apache, but I'm not sure. I was able to hit sites with the old DNS down, as long as it didn't use MySQL. Another detail we looked at was two different pages that opened "localhost" as their MySQL server. One still worked with the ns2old named down, but one did not. So I'm perplexed. Maybe I should be looking at my Apache virtual hosts? We are using IP-based virtual hosts, in addition to names. Thanx again to everyone. -- Bryan P.S.
