LinuxManagers, I can't figure out why my root filesystem is growing. Here is what I have from the df command: Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on /dev/hda2 3555936 3282520 92784 98% / /dev/hda1 97570 9323 83209 11% /boot none 46868 0 46868 0% /dev/shm /dev/hdc1 4128320 1244832 2673700 32% /home /dev/hde3 4142832 37916 3894468 1% /var/lib/mysql /dev/hde5 19236308 13368708 4890448 74% /usr/local/backup /dev/hde6 212707132 100291292 101610928 50% /var/ftp performing a 'du --max-depth 1 -x' at the root gives me: [root@JackStraw /]# du --max-depth 1 -x 16 ./lost+found 2072180 ./dev 88100 ./var 4 ./tmp 7500 ./etc 13392 ./root 1000964 ./usr 4732 ./bin 4 ./initrd 51664 ./lib 8 ./mnt 4 ./opt 12100 ./sbin 4 ./misc 3250680 . So it looks like /dev and /usr are the culprits. Any reason why these should be growing? I am not installing anything. Are there logs or anything like that that I can get rid of? Also, why would i have so many files in the /dev directory? Here is what is in the /usr dir: [root@JackStraw usr]# du --max-depth 1 -x 52392 ./bin 333652 ./lib 3296 ./libexec 15296 ./sbin 381020 ./share 9452 ./X11R6 4 ./dict 4 ./etc 4 ./games 13892 ./include 2216 ./local 186692 ./src 3040 ./kerberos Any help that you can provide would be much appriciated. I fear that my system will start having problems when the root filesystem is completely full. thank you, -KindSol _________________________________________________________________ Express yourself instantly with MSN Messenger!
