Actually, I'll start off with a quick summary of last weekend's meeting:
We accomplished a lot given the limited resources. We have decided to
save the question of
'content' and such until a) we have a clearer picture of what we
currently have, what we need,
what we WANT, and how we are going to make it all happen.
The following pieces have been decided and will be factored into all
designs:
- backend code language [PERL]
- backend user directory [decided]
- backend authentication mechanism [decided]
- method for customization [CSS]
This weekend we're hoping to get a bit more input as we start delving
into things at a more detailed level. Keep in mind that even though
we're developing a very nice, very sound virtual template, that nothing
has been assigned to date. The_Alan has volunteered to make a swag at
modifying the current site's look & feel to match the new requirements,
and we hope to review that soon to see if we want what we THINK we
want. If you have ideas and want to throw together a prototype for us
to sample, please do. We may not take on ALL of your ideas, but we may
well use some of them.
We're making real progress, guys. We're hoping to have enough settled
after this weekend that we can get someone actually working on something
for us to review NEXT weekend. It'd be great to have a definite, visual
framework.
If I don't see you before, Have a great weekend!
