did not test that yet, maybe you can use both
but for a file-server with pvfs openMosix is not really needed.

if one node fails in a parallel filesystem the 
whole filesystem crashes (normally).
I do not have very much experiences with pvfs but
i would not (yet) run it in a real production environment
with many users.

If possible trust on faster hardware ;) e.g. a raid.
Then you will have performance and redundance.
