Huh -- until you mentioned this, it never even occurred to me that someone, especially opponents to LLM use, might see this temporary embrace of hosted LLMs as anything other than a phase. I believe in a future with open and local LLMs, and most of my Debian work over the past 5 years was devoted to FOSS that enables just that. And I think that fully open models are only a question of time. We even had a talk about one at DebConf25 [1].
