Dear Rene, as I said in my last mail I sent in a patch for the Check-System script. As it seems something went wrong with it, but somehow the patch is already applied in rev3154. Maybe you can provide a hint or two to help me understand what has happened. (1) I followed the instructions on http://www.rocklinux.org/submaster.html, including creation of the file server.txt and adding my registration data for SubMaster. (2) I edited the Check-System script file in the trunk. (3) sm commit; sm queue (4) sm patch <queue ID> asked me to add a description, as expected, which I did. After finishing, I saw messages like "dumping diff", also quite as expected. A patch id was created that I used for the next step. (5) sm send <patch_id> appeared to work flawlessly. I received an email message from SubMaster that my patch was there and I could see it in the Web UI. But only when netrunner (thanks!) added a note "this patch misses the patch" I re-checked and found that my description of the patch was there, but not the patch itself. (6) I discarded the patch. (7) Using the web UI I tried to upload it again, but was unable to add a description, then. So I discarded this, too. (8) After an sm sync I saw that there's now an updated version of Check-System, containing just my patch, with two clarifying words in the output text added. Thanks to whoever did this! It seems, something went wrong in step 4 or 5 of the process. As I don't want to set up anybody or make a mess, I'd like to learn how I can avoid mistakes here. How can I make sure that the upstream data contain the description *and* the patch, other than trying and then check in the web UI? Step (8) shows that my patch is unnecessary, now. So it probably don't hurt that I discarded it, does it? I'd really like to understand the process better, but my first attempt to use it was unlucky. Probably I missed something obvious. Can you give me a hint on where I should look for what in the steps described above, please? Thank you Alex -- "Sie haben neue Mails!" - Die GMX Toolbar informiert Sie beim Surfen!
