Try my driver release.  It may fix the problem, or at least provide some
information on what is going wrong.

mkdir /tmp/netdrivers/
cd /tmp/netdrivers/
ncftpget ftp://ftp.scyld.com/pub/network/netdrivers.tgz
tar xfvz netdrivers.tgz
make
make install
