So "lp -s -dpsc1210 kfc2.jpg" did not cause any error message on your 
console?

Can you post the output of the following commands:

lpstat -o
lpstat -p
lpstat -v
lpinfo -v
ps auxwww | grep hp

Can you also set the "LogLevel" to "debug" in /etc/cups/cupsd.conf, 
restart CUPS, send the job again, and then observe what gets loggen in 
/var/log/cups/error_log? Have also the toolbox (/usr/hplip/toolbox or 
/usr/local/hplip/toolbox) running and observe the messages on the status 
tab.
