The diff of ipw2200.c between 2.6.22 and 2.6.23 is quite small (83
lines). Can you try bisect of similiar to narrow down which change
caused this problem?

BTW, do you use any kind of power saving scripts in the userspace (like,
set the card to more power saving state when idle)?
