Hi,

AMD x86 and x86_64 CPUs in typical machines should work fine with the 
HSF driver. The HSF driver requires that the CPU has the MMX technology 
and most x86 nowadays processors should have it. You can use the 
following command in a root shell:

---
cat /proc/cpuinfo | grep flags
---

to see if MMX is supported or not by the processor. The HSF driver is 
also known to work fine on 2.6.20.x kernels.

Can you provide the complete kernel oops you obtained? Since the kernel 
oops when the driver is inserted into the kernel, you should check and 
make sure that your kernel was compiled without the CONFIG_4KSTACKS 
option enabled.

Finally, if you are not running an officially supported Linux 
distribution and kernel, you could try one to see if there is a 
difference. We provide pre-compiled packages for most Linux 
distributions which are officially supported.
