Unless you can build a PCI bus interface the 8051 that can handle bus
masters (theoretically possible, but very unlikely), you should give up
the idea.

Check out the NatSemi and SMSC Ethernet chips, or perhaps the ones
designed for 16 bit PCMCIA cards.
