the question about hotplug in tulip driver(not buildtin kernel 2.4)

Dear all,
Can any comment to let me can use hotplug in tulip driver? The original driver defines an Option CardBus, but the newer cardmgr treats the cardbus as Hotplug PCI. So
I can not hotswap with tulip driver. I trace the code, but the coding style is old PCI programming style. Anyone can help me??
