Hi, I can't see how to do options 1 or 2. Option 1: The only NIC boot menu I could find was the one I mentioned in the original message below. It had 4 entries and it made no difference which one I chose. Option 2: I also mentioned in that message that changing the mb's CMOS boot order had no effect. In the end I actually did option 3 and made myself a freedos boot floppy. I will read up on option 4 but so far I can't see a linux solution. Raphael P.S. The card is a 3c905C-TX/TX-M [Tornado] in case you missed the subject line :) Hans-Peter Jansen wrote: >Hi Raphael, > >deactivating the NIC ROM could be archived on several ways (partly >depending on what kind of ROM code you're using): > - NIC boot menu > - via mb's BIOS boot order (depends on rom format and bios impl.) > - with the DOS tool 3c90xcfg.exe from > ftp://ftp.3com.com/pub/nic/3c90x/3c90x2.exe > - erase it with cromutil from etherboot/contrib/3c90xutil > (somewhat invasive) > >Hth, >Pete > >On Monday 04 August 2003 13:29, Raphael Clifford wrote: > > >>I am attempting to get my system to boot from the hard drive and am >>having no luck.
