The Mini-PCI again

Hi Donald Becker,

I have a mini-PCI card in my Inspiron 8100, which had the symptom you've
seen before, that with the kernel driver it was necessary to boot Windows
first to initialize the card. I tried your driver, but without success.
The behavior was that the link light was on, and an attempt to send packets
would cause the activity light to flash, but I couldn't actually get any
traffic through (e.g. `ping' would report "no route to host").

I reviewed the previous discussion on this list about the mini-PCI card, and
hacked the same change (writing 0x0900 to window 0 register 0) into the
kernel driver at what seemed like the right place. This worked! So I am up
and running, but I thought you might want to know that your driver didn't
work for me. In the hope that they will contain a clue, I provide here two
`vortex-diag' dumps: the first is using the kernel driver after Windows had
previously been booted, and the second is using your driver.

One thing that may be odd about my LAN is that I am still running 10base-T.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.
