Don't use Java2 as others have already confirmed it doesn't work with
FailSafe properly, but use Java jre/jdk 1.1.8 instead.  Also don't use
IBM's 1.1.8 JDK/JRE as it has problems with the newer 2.2.4 glibc's.  I
use Blackdown's 1.1.8 jdk and it works for me.
