About: Conary is a distributed software management system for Linux
distributions. It replaces traditional package management solutions (such
as RPM and dpkg) with one designed to enable loose collaboration across
the Internet. It enables sets of distributed and loosely connected
repositories to define the components which are installed on a Linux
system. Rather than having a full distribution come from a single vendor,
it allows administrators and developers to branch a distribution, keeping
the pieces which fit their environment while grabbing components from
other repositories across the Internet.

and install-time user/group handling. Also included is support for CIL
dependency handling, provided Mono's monodis is available at build time.

Software Development :: Build Tools
System :: Installation/Setup
About: JExpress Professional lets you create multiplatform, multilingual
installers and auto-updaters. An easy-to-use Swing interface lets you
design your installers quickly without requiring any programming. You can
build a single installer for multiple products or install types. It allows
you to efficiently customize your installers using Java. JExpress
Professional goes beyond just building Java installations; it can also
select the exact classes your Java app uses, build your directory tree,
and produce JAR files. JExpress Professional can even use a sophisticated
algorithm to upload your software to your Web site without user
intervention. It can create native installers for Windows, Linux, Mac OS
X, and Solaris that install the JVM if it isn't already installed.
Changes: Substantially increased speed of multiple installers (e.g. an
installer created with 6.9 - 6.9.4 took 11:39 minutes; the same installer
created with 6.9.5 took 40 seconds to install the same files). Security
has been improved for multi-type installers by limiting the files
extracted into the temporary directory to those selected by the user. Mac
OS X users, like Windows and Linux users, can now access context sensitive
help while running JExpress.

[062] - NeoLoad 1.1
by Neotys (http://freshmeat.net/users/neotys/)
Wed, Jul 27th 2005 08:53
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: HTTP Servers
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Site Management
Software Development :: Testing :: Traffic Generation
About: NeoLoad is a load testing tool for Web applications. By simulating
a large number of users accessing your application, it tests the
robustness and performance of a server under different loads. A clear and
comprehensive test report pinpoints errors and bottlenecks and answers
questions about the number of users a site can handle, if the site will
crash under load, and what the response times are. It is user friendly and
very easy to use, requiring no scripting, and allows you to design advanced
scenarios to handle real world applications.
Changes: Iteration mode was added for duration policy, which allows you to
start the scenario for a predefined number of iterations. Automatic
detection, recording, and use was added for NTLM authentication. File
uploading and more generally all the HTTP multipart requests are now
supported. Compressed server responses (gzip, deflate) are now
decompressed before the processing of validations and extractors. Binary
content in POST requests is handled. The variable extractor is now much
easier to use with a new intuitive definition panel.

[063] - netprofiler 0.9.9
by Freyr Gunnar Ólafsson (http://freshmeat.net/users/gnarlin/)
Wed, Jul 27th 2005 03:58
About: Netprofiler saves the settings of network devices into files with
appropriate names for each device in a folder whose name is specified by
the user. These are called netprofiles. It is then easy to change the
network settings to those saved in the profiles.
Changes: install.sh was changed. Netprofiler is now installed to /usr/sbin
instead of /usr/local/sbin. It also checks for the "host" command (from
bind-utils) on the system and bails out if it doesn't find it. If the
default route was a string (such as myrouter.lan or something similar), it
would lead to many problems. Netprofiler now resolves these to their
correct IP adress before writing the profile. If the last known
current.profile profile file was deleted and then if netprofiler -s was
run, it would bail.

[083] - Task Coach 0.45
by Frank Niessink (http://freshmeat.net/users/fniessink/)
Wed, Jul 27th 2005 03:11
Office/Business :: Scheduling
About: Task Coach is a simple todo manager to manage personal tasks and
todo lists. It grew out of a frustration that well-known task managers,
such as those provided with Outlook or Lotus Notes, do not provide
facilities for composite tasks. Often, tasks and other things to do
consist of several activities. Task Coach is designed to deal with
composite tasks.
Changes: This release fixes a couple of bugs. When tracking effort, the
task file would be marked as changed after every clock tick. Task priority
can now be set to both positive and negative integers. Opening a help
dialog before the splash screen disappeared would make Task Coach stop
responding to input. One feature has changed: setting the start date of a
subtask earlier than the start date of the parent task or setting the due
date of a subtask later than the due date of the parent task will adapt
the parent start or due date as necessary.

what XCC does is by analogy with a generic parser generator, e.g. yacc or
bison. Yacc needs a lexical analyzer to function properly, and that
lexical analyzer is usually built with (f)lex. In the XML world, there are
a few packages which fill in the role of lex (expat and libxml are the most
known), but the high-level grammar parsing is usually done by a
hand-written code; writing such a parser is a tedious and error-prone
task. XCC was created to help developers in writing reliable
easy-to-understood parsers for handling complex XML-based grammars.
Changes: Multiple parsers per application can now be generated. Exception
handling via an optional user-supplied function was implemented.

Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks
About: The Zeus Java Swing Components Library provides useful Swing
components for easier GUI development. It uses only standard components to
create widgets and standard patterns wherever possible. It includes a
console replacement, a splash screen implementation, a table sorter, a
window manager class to manage JInternalFrames within a JDesktop, a simple
solution to the multiple application instances problem, a data validator,
and much more.
Changes: A major usage redesign was done for JConsole. Most of the code
was moved to a new class, JConsolePane (JPanel). A new class that uses
this panel inside a JFrame (JConsole) and another one that uses the
console inside a JInternalFrame were also created. A new Swing component,
JMessage, was created. It works like JOptionPane, but can also display the
stacktrace of an exception inside a textarea. It can also display plain
text as well as HTML text as the message body, and does much more.

[103] - Zort 1.0.0
by CJ (http://freshmeat.net/users/darkglassdolleyes/)
Wed, Jul 27th 2005 15:09
About: Zort is a Web-based RSS aggregator based on MagpieRSS. It features
a clean, minimal interface, some nice CSS/Javascript to hide
feeds/categories you don't want to look at, and all the usual caching,
etc., you'd expect from a MagpieRSS-based app. By default, all feeds are
returned on a single page. It does not feature a database backend, support
for multiple users, a set of administrative screens, an authentication
system of any kind, or flagging of RSS items as read/saved/etc., nor is it
likely to include those things in the future. It was written in a very
minimalistic frame of mind, and such features are on an explicit "do not
support" list.
