Software Development :: Libraries :: PHP Classes
About: 2D/3D Vertical Bar Graph for PHP is a PHP script that provides a
very easy way to embed dynamically generated vertical bar graphs and
charts into PHP applications and HTML Web pages. The graphing software is
very easy to use and makes it possible to add professional quality real
time graphing to Web pages and applications within minutes.
Changes: The graph will automatically detect which GD version is running.
If running under GD 2.x (or higher), then True Color images are produced,
otherwise the color pallette is limited to 256 colors.

Software Development :: Bug Tracking
Software Development :: Quality Assurance
About: AccuRev is a fast, powerful, and easy-to-use integrated Version
Control and Issue Tracking tool based on "Streams". Streams are a
combination and superset of branches and labels which are first class
objects instead of being file-by-file attributes. AccuRev records all
merges and patches, so you never have to re-merge the same code. It
supports file and directory renaming and merging, follows a client/server
model, and is transaction-based. It includes an integrated graphical 3-way
diff and merge tool. AccuRev also integrates with Eclipse, the MS SCC API,
Sun Java Studio, any diff/merge tool with a command line interface, and
more.
Changes: Replication is now supported via an add-on.

About: Agar is a graphical application framework aimed primarily at
object-oriented games and simulations. The engine handles persistence,
interdependencies, and memory management. It currently implements layered
2D levels, graphical object/level editing, and a GUI, as well as various
other useful interfaces.
Changes: This release includes changes to the map system and graphic
editor, and GUI fixes. Node attributes can now be set directly from the
tile editor. Tiles are now automatically subdivided. Shared graphics were
removed and saves now include graphics. Support for multiple map points of
view was added and scrollbars were added to map views. Several improvements
were made to map rendering. The map tool API was improved and unnecessary
tools were removed. Selection of nodes, node elements, and mouse
displacement were fixed. Issues with RCS updates were addressed. The
"tile-based" rendering mode was removed.

Other/Nonlisted Topic
Software Development
Software Development :: Build Tools
About: AutoGen is a tool designed for generating program files that
contain repetitive text with varied substitutions. Its goal is to simplify
the maintenance of programs that contain large amounts of repetitious text.
This is especially valuable if there are several blocks of such text that
must be kept synchronized. Output is specified with a Scheme-enhanced
output template. Input, if required by your template, may come from
AutoGen definitions, CGI data, or XML files.
Changes: The regeneration of the document no longer requires that AutoOpts
have been pre-installed. A compilation error on platforms with realpath(3C)
but not PATH_MAX was fixed.

Fri, Jul 29th 2005 02:45
System :: Software Distribution
System :: Software Distribution Tools
About: autopackage allows developers to produce "install anywhere"
packages for 3rd party Linux software. The resulting packages support both
graphical and terminal frontends, support dependency checking and
resolution, and use deep desktop integration. Additionally, tools to
enhance the packaged software such as binreloc and relaytool are provided.
By providing an autopackage, developers can ensure their users always have
an easy way of installing the latest release of their software.
Changes: This release fixes a few problems people were seeing on various
distributions. A fix for the "broken man" bug is included, and sudo
authentication is now fully working on Ubuntu. Also, the ramdisk code was
deleted, as it didn't work for everybody. Finally, the developer RPM had a
cosmetic bugfix. It's recommended that everybody upgrade to get the MANPATH
and sudo bugfixes. There are upgrade instructions on the Web page.

Internet :: Proxy Servers
Security
Software Development :: Testing
About: Burp proxy is an interactive HTTP/S proxy server for attacking
Web-enabled applications. It operates as a man-in-the-middle between the
end browser and the target Web server, and allows the attacker to
intercept, inspect, and modify the raw traffic passing in both directions.
Text and hex editing may be performed on intercepted traffic. Downstream
proxies are supported. Authentication may be done to downstream proxy and
Web servers, using basic, NTLM, or digest authentication types.
Changes: Various new features have been added. Fine-grained rules can be
configured governing interception of requests and responses. A regex-based
search and highlight function has been added to all text panes. A tabular
view is now available to display and edit all request parameters. Burp
proxy is now extensible via the IBurpExtender interface. A facility to
automatically toggle GET/POST request type and correctly relocate
parameters has been added. Optional persistent preferences across program
launches have been implemented.

Security
System :: Monitoring
System :: Networking :: Firewalls
About: fwknop implements an authorization scheme that requires only a
single encrypted packet to communicate various pieces of information,
including desired access through a Netfilter policy and/or specific
commands to execute on the target system. The main application of this
program is to protect services such as SSH with an additional layer of
security in order to make the exploitation of vulnerabilities much more
difficult. The authorization server works by passively monitoring
authorization packets via libpcap.
Changes: The ability to specify multiple ports/protocols to access on a
server was added with the --Access command line option. The ability to
spoof SPA packets over the ICMP and TCP protocols was added. The ability
to restrict access at the server to only those ports defined in the
OPEN_PORTS keyword was added. This option is controled by a new keyword,
"PERMIT_CLIENT_PORTS". The code falls back to getpwuid() if getlogin()
fails.

About: KildClient is a MUD client written with the GTK+ windowing toolkit.
It supports many common features of other clients, such as triggers, gags,
aliases, macros, timers, and much more. But its main feature is the
built-in Perl interpreter. At any moment, the user can execute Perl
statements and functions to do things much more powerful than simply
sending text the the MUD. Perl statements can also be run, for example, as
the action of a trigger, allowing you to do complex things. Some built-in
functions of KildClient allow interaction with the world, such as sending
commands to it. KildClient supports MCCP (Mud Client Compression Protocol)
versions 1 and 2, and a direct chat system to other users of KildClient or
other clients compatible with the MudMaster or zChat protocols.
Changes: This release is much easier to use, since you can add triggers,
aliases, etc. graphically from the World Editor. There are also other
enhancements.

[038] - Kodo JDO 3.4.0 Beta 1 (Beta)
by Chox (http://freshmeat.net/users/neelan/)
Fri, Jul 29th 2005 13:32
Database :: API
About: Kodo JDO allows you to write database calls using Java statements
instead of SQL statements, by supporting the Java Data Objects standard
for transparent persistence. It is the most complete implementation of the
JDO specification for relational data stores, and comes with tools for
producing a schema from an object model, producing class files from an
existing schema, and a performance pack (distributed caching and statement
batching) that improves performance by 15 - 30 times. It supports most
relational databases, application servers, and IDEs, and reduces the total
coding effort by 20-40%.
Changes: The query cache now caches aggregates and projections, including
queries that use grouping. Support has been added for save points, with
both in-memory and JDBC 3 plugins. Some drivers / database combinations do
not support JDBC 3 or savepoints. Support has been added for Oracle Object
fields through JDBC SQLData interfaces. Official Oracle JDBC driver
support has been upgraded from 9.0.1.0.0 to 10.1.0.4.

Communications :: Email
Communications :: Email :: Email Clients (MUA)
Communications :: Email :: Filters
About: Nail is a mail user agent derived from Berkeley Mail. It provides
the functionality of the System V and POSIX mailx commands. Additional
features include support for MIME, IMAP (including caching and
disconnected use), POP3, SMTP, S/MIME, international character sets,
maildir folders, message threading, powerful search methods, scoring, and
a Bayesian junk mail filter. Nail can be used as a mail batch language in
nearly the same way as it is used interactively. It can thus act as a
mailbox filter, can fetch mail from remote accounts, and can send files as
attachments.
Changes: A bug in the base64 encoder that added two bits of junk under
certain circumstances has been fixed; most decoders ignore such bits. A
bug in the IMAP cache that caused the message body to appear twice under
rare circumstances has also been fixed. Input that lacks a terminating
newline is now always encoded in quoted-printable. Support for wildcard
host names in certificates according to RFC 2595 has been added. The
maximum length of lines that are passed to SMTP servers is now
configurable. The "sort" command now uncollapses a threaded view.

About: Quilt is a set of scripts to manage a series of patches by keeping
track of the changes each patch makes. Patches can be applied, un-applied,
refreshed, etc. The key philosophical concept is that your primary output
is patches, not ".c" files or ".h" files, so patches are the first-class
object here. It was originally based on Andrew Morton's patch scripts
published on the Linux kernel mailing list a while ago, but has been
heavily modified since then.
Changes: Three commands were added: annotate (annotate working files with

[068] - SMS Server Tools 1.15.1
by Stefan Frings (http://freshmeat.net/users/sfrings/)
Fri, Jul 29th 2005 01:17

About: The SMS Server Tools (smstools) were made to send and receive SMS
from one or many GSM modems. They include a send/receive daemon and some

software support text messages in 7 and 16 bits (UCS2), as well as 8 bit
binary messages.

Text Processing :: Markup :: XML
About: XIST is an XML-based extensible HTML generator written in Python.
XIST is also a DOM parser (built on top of SAX2) with a very simple and
Pythonesque tree API. Every XML element type corresponds to a Python
class, and these Python classes provide a conversion method to transform
the XML tree (e.g. into HTML). XIST can be considered "object oriented
XSL".
Changes: A script for generating XIST namespaces from XML files has been
added. Iterating the tree via walk() has been enhanced. Presenters have
been enhanced. Parsing HTML now generates location information. sorted()
now supports the arguments key and reverse. Many other fixes and
enhancements.
