[001] - AF Architecture 1.0-rc4
  by Advanced Software Production Line (http://freshmeat.net/users/aspl/)
  Fri, Aug 26th 2005 06:32

Office/Business
Software Development :: Build Tools
Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks

About: Af-Arch is an N-tier development framework to quickly build
high-quality distributed applications. It currently supports C and C#
programming languages, which enables you to write client applications
using them. It currently runs on GNU/Linux and Microsoft Windows, and is
being used in production environments.

Changes: Source code generation bugs were fixed in af-gen. The
--enable-log option was added to aspl-clm, which activates log tracing
(using the afdal-log API). The makefiles for Win32 were fixed. Af-Arch#
build detection was broken, so a system without the .NET environment was
failing to build af-arch. The vortex_connection_close operation in
libvortex was improved to handle closing a connection with 0, 1, or n
channels is a specific way.

[002] - AltioLive Studio 4.0 (Stable)
  by Altio Developer Program (http://freshmeat.net/users/altiodev/)
  Fri, Aug 26th 2005 11:14

Database :: Front-Ends
Internet
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content

About: AltioLive Studio provides a development environment to rapidly
build front ends to complex Web based applications, with rich client
interactivity beyond the capabilities of the best AJAX front ends.
Included are a Visual GUI builder, a backend integration tool, and other
development tools, which allow developers to build the interface for their
applications quickly, remotely, and without touching an XML or Java editor,
so that they can get on with developing the business logic on the backend.

Changes: On the server side, the major new feature is Server side plugins
for high-level services and connections to enterprise systems such as SAP,
Seibel, Oracle Financials, etc., the plugins for which are included in the
Enterprise version. On the client side, animated GIF controls and grouped
list columns are the major new UI features. Enhancements to the data
actions to work on multiple XML elements and full support for the standard
XPath functions are among the other enhancements.

  Fri, Aug 26th 2005 14:19

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content :: CGI Tools/Libraries
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Site Management

About: AudienceConnect::E-Zine is a revenue-generating Python CGI solution
for independent content providers. Requests for dynamic content are routed
through PayPal. Previews of that content are generated as static HTML for
search engines to harvest. Self-publishers can upload and publish
remotely, or the editorial CGI can be used to view and publish
submissions. AudienceConnect can be extended to deliver any digital
content such as sound and image files. Installation is very simple, as no
database technologies are used.

Changes: Static path handling has been improved.

  Fri, Aug 26th 2005 11:10

Software Development :: Libraries

About: Cairo is a vector graphics library with cross-device output
support. It currently supports the X Window System and in-memory image
buffers as output targets. It is designed to produce identical output on
all output media while taking advantage of display hardware acceleration
when available (eg. through the X Render Extension). It provides a
stateful user-level API with capabilities similar to the PDF 1.4 imaging
model and provides operations including stroking and filling Bezier cubic
splines, transforming and compositing translucent images, and antialiased
text  rendering.

Changes: The "xlib", "image", and "win32" backends have been marked as
stable, and all others as experimental. SOURCE and CLEAR operators were
changed to behave consistently with all other operators. Optimization was
improved and many bugs were fixed.

[008] - Codestriker 1.9.1

  Fri, Aug 26th 2005 02:56

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content :: CGI Tools/Libraries
Software Development
Software Development :: Bug Tracking

About: Codestriker is a Web application that supports online code reviews.
Traditional document reviews are supported, as well as reviewing diffs
generated by an SCM (Source Code Management) system and plain unidiff
patches. There are integration points with CVS, Subversion, Clearcase,
Perforce, Visual SourceSafe, and Bugzilla. There is a plug-in architecture
for supporting other SCMs and issue tracking systems. It minimizes paper
work, ensures that issues, comments, and decisions are recorded in a
database, and provides a comfortable workspace for actually performing
code inspections. An optional highly-configurable metrics subsystem allows
you to record code inspection metrics as a part of your process.

Changes: A problem where the email address field in the add comment
tooltip was not being stored correctly in the Codestriker cookie was
fixed. For reviewers who have never created a Codestriker topic, the email
field did not remember the previous value. When adding a comment via a link
from an email, the confirmation screen now contains links to the topic text
and topic comments for convenience.

[010] - Conary 0.61.12
  by Michael K. Johnson (http://freshmeat.net/users/johnsonm/)
  Fri, Aug 26th 2005 16:24

Software Development :: Version Control
System :: Archiving :: Packaging
System :: Installation/Setup

About: Conary is a distributed software management system for Linux
distributions. It replaces traditional package management solutions (such
as RPM and dpkg) with one designed to enable loose collaboration across
the Internet. It enables sets of distributed and loosely connected
repositories to define the components which are installed on a Linux
system. Rather than having a full distribution come from a single vendor,
it allows administrators and developers to branch a distribution, keeping
the pieces which fit their environment while grabbing components from
other repositories across the Internet.

Changes: The conary update --info command now works again. A new
r.ByDefault() policy controls how components are included in their
enclosing packages; the default is True except for :test and :debuginfo
components that default to False. Cloning across repositories works. You
can now search for troves using <trove>=<host>@ to search every label on
the repository named by <host>.

[011] - EncFS 1.2.4
  by Valient  Gough (http://freshmeat.net/users/vgough/)
  Fri, Aug 26th 2005 11:56

Security :: Cryptography
System :: Filesystems

About: EncFS is an encrypted pass-through filesystem which runs in
userspace on Linux (using the FUSE kernel module). Similar in design to
CFS and other pass-through filesystems, all data is encrypted and stored
in the underlying filesystem. Unlike loopback filesystems, there is no
predetermined or pre-allocated filesystem size.

Changes: An 'export' command has been added to encfsctl to allow exporting
an entire filesystem. Configuration file location override has been added.
An option has been added for a static library build.

[012] - gEDA 20050820
  by Ales Hvezda (http://freshmeat.net/users/ahvezda/)
  Fri, Aug 26th 2005 14:27

Scientific/Engineering :: Electronic Design Automation (EDA)

About: gEDA is a suite of electronic design automation (EDA) tools.
Currently, the project offers a mature suite of free software applications
for electronics design, including schematic capture, attribute management,
bill of materials (BOM) generation, netlisting into over 20 netlist
formats, analog and digital simulation, and printed circuit board (PCB)
layout.

Changes: This snapshot is primarily a bugfix release. Most of the squashed
bugs are critical fixes for various segmentation faults, and there are also
some usability improvements. There are a few new features including the
ability to change attribute visibility in gattrib, improved grid spacing
in gschem, postscript output for pictures in schematics, an updated
version of gsch2pcb (which fixes many issues), a new refdes numbering
script (grenum), gnetlist spice backend improvements, and an updated

[013] - Gentoo Category Select 0.3
  by sobit (http://freshmeat.net/users/sobitfm/)
  Fri, Aug 26th 2005 14:42

System :: Installation/Setup

About: Gentoo Category Select is a graphical tool for selecting Gentoo
Package Categories to exclude from your local package repository. It does
so by weaning information from multiple directories and files for
convenience, as well as providing warning about categories that should not
be excluded due to currently installed packages. This is achieved without
the addition of a configuration file. Currently only the Qt front-end is
finished. It is modularly designed for ease in creating front-ends based
on other toolkits. The advantages are saved disk space (small/MMV),
quicker rsync time (small/MMV), and a lessening of bandwidth requirements
by gentoo.org and its mirrors.

wxGTK. It is able to display the topics tree, work with displayed pages
history, print the current page, work with bookmarks, change fonts and
fast search through all the pages of the loaded .chm document. Being
indirectly dependent on GTK+, the possibility of changing GTK+ skins makes
xCHM theme-friendly.

Changes: This release adds support for the SPAN HTML tag. A TW translation
file has been added. A bookmarks bug has been fixed. There are better icons
for the contents tree items.

[060] - XML-RPC debugger 1.0
  by Meredydd (http://freshmeat.net/users/meredydd/)

Software Development

About: Unlike other debuggers, which focus on the XML-RPC protocol, this
one is for debugging the service itself, allowing manual calls to RPC
methods with syntax like that of an object-oriented programming language
rather than manually writing XML.

System :: Emulators

About: XRoar is an emulator for the Dragon 32, Dragon 64, and Tandy Coco2
computers all originally released in the early '80s. The emulator runs
under Unix-like OSes (using SDL for video and OSS for audio) and the GP32
handheld gaming device.

Changes: OpenGL resize and border alignment problems were fixed. Most
things work regarding CoCo disk support, but NitrOS-9 doesn't seem to
boot. 6809-PIA interrupt interaction was made more accurate for better
compatibility. Virtual disk timings were made more accurate. JVC (".dsk")
virtual floppies are supported.

[062] - xsd 1.1.1
  by Boris Kolpackov (http://freshmeat.net/users/bosk/)

Software Development :: Code Generators
Software Development :: Compilers
Text Processing :: Markup :: XML

About: xsd is a W3C XML Schema to C++ translator. It generates a
vocabulary-specific, statically-typed C++ mapping (also called binding)
from XML Schema definitions. The mapping consists of data types that
represent the given vocabulary, a set of parsing functions that convert
XML instance documents to a tree-like in-memory data structure, and a set
of serialization functions that convert the in-memory representation back
to XML. xsd features C++ standard library-based language mapping,
configurable base character type (char/wchar_t), support for all XML
Schema built-in types, custom Schema to C++ namespace mapping,
platform-independent generated code, and more.

Changes: A major bug which manifested itself in the absence of diagnostic
messages on platforms with non-POSIX filesystem paths (notably Windows)
was fixed.
