Internet
Internet :: Proxy Servers
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Site Management

About: BalanceNG is a modern software IP load balancing solution. It is
small, fast, and easy to use and setup. It offers session persistence,
different distribution methods (Round Robin, Random, Hash, and Least
Resource) and a customizable UDP health check agent in source code. It
supports VRRP (Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol) to set up high

About: Barcode Writer in Pure Postscript implements the printing of many
barcode formats entirely within level 2 PostScript, so that the process of
converting the input string into the printed output is performed by the
printer itself. This avoids the need to re-implement the barcode
generation process whenever your language needs change. The project
supports most major barcode formats including EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, UPC-E,
ISBN, Code 128 (A, B, and C), Code 39, Interleaved 2 of 5, Postnet, Code 2
of 5, and Codabar.

Changes: A new encoder for the bar codes used by the Australian Postal
Service was added.

Software Development :: Libraries

About: InteLib is a library of C++ classes which lets you do Lisp
programming within your C++ programs even without any additional
preprocessing, without all those calling conventions. You can write code
which is accepted by a C++ compiler while thinking in a "Lisp mode", and
the code you write will look much like Lisp code, although it will be pure
C++.

Changes: The most important thing is that the express/sbacklnk.[ch]pp
module was reworked. This release adds sexpress/sdbllist.[ch]pp, which
lets you handle doubly-linked lists of S-expressions. There are some minor
changes, e.g., the Lisp symbol packages are now able to be derved one from

Multimedia :: Sound/Audio
Multimedia :: Video :: Non-Linear Editor

About: m2vmp2cut is frame accurate (currently PAL) MPEG2 video (M2V file)
with accompanied MP2 audio cutter. Frame accuracy is achieved by
re-encoding video around cutpoints. Audio is cut from a separate MP2 file
at positions that keep A/V sync as good as possible (maximum sync
difference is around 10-15 milliseconds compared to the source).

Changes: Timecodes in GOPs have been fixed. Audio scanning has been
implemented in C for speed. This release notices audio bit-rate/sample
rate changes, and it is considered an error if the rate changes in output
content. Source video format and intra dc precision values are given to
the video encoder. There are a few small, less significant improvements.

contributions to the pool and they draw on the contributions of others. In
the course of their interactions they conduct a search through the design
space and the text evolves.

  by Tommi Mäkitalo (http://freshmeat.net/users/tmaek/)
  Mon, Oct 24th 2005 14:28

Database :: API
Software Development :: Libraries

About: Tntdb is a c++-class-library for database access. It implements a
database-independent layer, which loads the actual driver dynamically when
a connection is made. The classes use automatic resource management with
reference counts. Resources are freed when the classes go out of scope.
Error handling is done with exceptions (derived from std::exception).
There are STL-like iterators for result sets and rows, and also the cursor
is an STL-like iterator. It is written in standard C++ with Linux. Drivers
for PostgreSQL and MySQL are available.

[059] - Web Performance Analyzer 1.0.1358
  by Michael Czeiszperger (http://freshmeat.net/users/czei/)
  Mon, Oct 24th 2005 11:58

About: Web Performance Analyzer is a Web performance tool that allows
designers to measure, analyze, estimate, and track Web page performance.
It is available as a standalone program and an Eclipse plugin. WPA
captures Web pages as you browse and reveals dynamic HTTP requests,
forwards, and other low-level details that aren't visible from a browser.
But unlike other simple protocol sniffers, WPA can tell you if your Web
pages are getting faster or slower by replaying recorded sessions and
comparing the current performance to previous measurements.

Changes: Improves the ability to review recorded pages containing 304s out
of the originally recorded order. Fixes broken icons, and changes the
internal HTTP proxy reviewing server to pass through URLs that were not
recorded.

[060] - WorldForge::Eris 1.3.9 (Development)
  by Alistair Riddoch (http://freshmeat.net/users/ajr/)
  Mon, Oct 24th 2005 23:03

Games/Entertainment :: Role-Playing

About: WorldForge::Eris is designed to simplify client development (and
avoid duplicating effort) by providing a common framework to deal with
server communications for the WorldForge project.

Changes: A new-look queueing system was implemented. A null response
object was added to silence a warning when going in-game. The code for
processing entity state changes was re-factored to make it simpler. All
operation processing is now done on Atlas static type data, with type
lookups only when required for dispatch. Connection was changed to make
testing for a failed socket stream more reliable. The unit tests were
expanded to test soundness of in-game actions, emotes, and setting entity
state via movement operations.

[064] - xsd 1.5.0
  by Boris Kolpackov (http://freshmeat.net/users/bosk/)
  Mon, Oct 24th 2005 05:45

Software Development
Software Development :: Code Generators
Software Development :: Compilers

About: xsd is a W3C XML Schema to C++ translator. It generates a
vocabulary-specific, statically-typed C++ mapping (also called binding)
from XML Schema definitions. The mapping consists of data types that
represent the given vocabulary, a set of parsing functions that convert
XML instance documents to a tree-like in-memory data structure, and a set
of serialization functions that convert the in-memory representation back
to XML. xsd features C++ standard library-based language mapping,
configurable base character type (char/wchar_t), support for all XML
Schema built-in types, custom Schema to C++ namespace mapping,
platform-independent generated code, and more.

Changes: Support for "type-less" content (mixed content model,
xsd:anyType/xsd:anySimpleType, and xsd:any/xsd:anyAttribute) has been
implemented. An option to maintain association with underlying DOM nodes
has been added. Basic support for inheritance-by-restriction in complex
types has been implemented. Support for Sun C++ 5.7 (Studio 10) and Sun
Solaris has been added.
