Internet :: File Transfer Protocol (FTP)
System :: Systems Administration
About: AFD is a program to automatically distribute files either locally
or to remote hosts. The files are distributed by using FTP or SMTP, and
can be sent in parallel and with priority. It provides a GUI to monitor
and control the distribution and extensive logging of all activities.
Changes: This release adds support for sending files via SFTP. Duplicate
checks can now be done on a per-host basis. Hosts can be put in a group to
share one transfer rate limit value.

by SlotGazer (http://freshmeat.net/users/slotgazer/)
Fri, Apr 21st 2006 08:05
Communications :: File Sharing
Internet :: File Transfer Protocol (FTP)
Internet :: WWW/HTTP
About: aria2 is a utility for downloading files. It has completely new
design concept from its predecessor, Aria, and is written from scratch.
aria2 has a segmented downloading engine in its core. It can download one
file from multiple URLs or multiple connections from one URL. This results
in very high speed downloading, much faster than ordinary browsers. This
engine in was implemented in a single-thread model. The architecture is
clean and easy to extend. aria2 currently supports HTTP, FTP, and
BitTorrent.
Changes: This release adds a selective downloading feature for multi-file
torrents. The progress readout is updated both in normal HTTP/FTP and
BitTorrent downloading. HTTP authentication now works without specifying
the --http-auth-scheme option. By default, aria2 does not create a
temporary file for BitTorrent downloads. Instead, it writes into and reads
from each file mentioned in a torrent file.

Internet :: Proxy Servers
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Site Management
About: BalanceNG is a modern software IP load balancing solution. It is
small, fast, and easy to use and setup. It offers session persistence,
different distribution methods (Round Robin, Random, Hash, and Least
Resource) and a customizable UDP health check agent in source code. It
supports VRRP (Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol) to set up high
availability configurations on multiple nodes. It integrates pcap packet
dumping for debugging purposes and allows the implementation of a
"transparent forensic logging bridge".
Changes: A set of bandwidth-based load balancing distribution methods has
been added ("bw", "bwin", and "bwout"), including optional weighting using
the "offset" and "scale" target parameters. The BalanceNG MIB (Management
Information Base) has been updated, including target-based bandwidth
information (Gauges). The manual has been updated to release 1.535.0.

and, <<<<. As builtin, it adds the following: sscanf(3), <string.h>,
<ctype.h> wrappers; array, regex(3), stack, queue operations; GDBM,
SQLite, PostgreSQL, MySQL database interfaces; HTML template engine
(BASP); Expat XML parser interface; x-y char plot; DOS, CSV, Awk support;
Libwebserver interface; RPN calculator with <math.h> functions; and, GTK+2
interface for GUI dialog.
Changes: A segmentation fault in ${var|<n} and ${var|>n} was fixed. It was
returning an unterminated string. The ability to read from stdin for
'vplot', 'tostring', 'tonumber', and 'binary' built-in commands was added.

About: jDTAUS is a Java implementation of the German DTAUS file format as
specified by Zentraler Kreditausschuss. It implements the DTAUS
specification version 2.0 (dated November 2005). The API was written with
mass-data support in mind and provides all possible kinds of operations on
a DTAUS file. Performance or memory critical sections of the code can be
hand-tuned via a property file without rebuilding the code. The API is
based on an abstraction layer for I/O operations, so implementations can
be adopted to other persistence mechanisms.

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content :: CGI Tools/Libraries
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Site Management
Software Development :: Code Generators
About: LayManSys is an RDF-based PHP framework for generating a consistent
layout for Web documents. It includes a library that can be used online as
well as on the command line. It generates the headers and footers for HTML
documents, manages (CSS) style definitions, shortcut icons (favicons),
static HTML, and dynamic PHP content, and much more. The necessary meta
information is either stored in RDF files or in special layout
configuration files.
Changes: This is a production release replacing the 0.1 branch. It
contains many bugfixes and some feature enhancements. It is strongly
recommended that you upgrade to this release. It contains breaks backwards
compatibility: the full functionality laymansys.php provided (error
reporting, etc.) is now put into laymansys-default.php, while
laymansys.php only represents the "core" library. This release can place
the document navigation everywhere, not just at the top of the document.

[031] - libferris 1.1.91
by Ben Martin (http://freshmeat.net/users/monkeyiq/)
Fri, Apr 21st 2006 05:43
Software Development :: Libraries
System :: Filesystems
About: libferris is a virtual filesystem that exposes hierarchical data of
all kinds through a common C++ interface. Access to data is performed using
C++ IOStreams and Extended Attributes (EA) can be attached to each file or
directory to present metadata. Ferris uses a plugin API to read various
data sources and expose them as filesystems and to generate interesting
EA. Current implementations include native (kernel disk IO with fam), XML
(mount an XML file as a filesystem), DB4, xmldb, Evolution, Firefox,
Emacs, LDAP, HTTP, FTP, eet, sockets, RDF/XML, RDF/bdb, and mbox. EA
generators include image, audio, and animation decoders.
Changes: This release adds xsltfs:// for reading/writing virtual
filesystems created as the result of XSL on an underlying filesystem, a
bugfix for runaway inference in Context::getAttributeRootEmblem(), large
mountDOM() speed improvements, implied -d in ferrisls when listing
non-directories from the commandline, and a fix for the -h option in
ferrisls in some environments.

[043] - NRL NORM 1.3b7
by imipak (http://freshmeat.net/users/imipak/)
Fri, Apr 21st 2006 21:56
System :: Networking
About: NRL NORM is an implementation of NACK-Oriented Reliable Multicast.
The NORM protocol is designed to provide end-to-end reliable transport of
bulk data objects or streams over generic IP multicast routing and
forwarding services. NORM uses a selective, negative acknowledgement
(NACK) mechanism for transport reliability and offers additional protocol
mechanisms to conduct reliable multicast sessions with limited "a priori"
coordination among senders and receivers. The protocol offers a number of
features to allow different types of applications or possibly other higher
level transport protocols to utilize its service in different ways. The
protocol leverages the use of FEC-based repair and other IETF reliable
multicast transport (RMT) building blocks in its design.
Changes: This release includes an implementation of RFC3940 and RFC3941,
heavy re-use of code and techniques from MDP, and an implementation of an
NS-2 simulation of the protocol.

[067] - Valgrind 3.1.1
by sigra (http://freshmeat.net/users/sigra/)
Fri, Apr 21st 2006 14:22
Software Development :: Testing
About: Valgrind is a tool that helps you find memory management problems
in programs. When a program is run under Valgrind's supervision, all reads
and writes of memory are checked, and calls to malloc/new/free/delete are
intercepted. As a result, Valgrind can detect problems such as use of
uninitialized memory, reading/writing of memory after it has been freed,
reading/writing off the end of malloced blocks, reading/writing
inappropriate areas on the stack, memory leaks in which pointers to
malloced blocks are lost forever, passing of uninitialized and/or
unaddressable memory to system calls, and mismatched use of malloc/new/new
[] vs. free/delete/delete [].
Changes: Many bugfixes for PPC-32, AMD-64, icc 8.1, gcc 2.96, stabs, the
vm86old system call, AshleyP's custom allocator, and the Dirk strict
aliasing feature. An incorrect error message for SSE code has been fixed.
Support for the syscall tkill has been fixed.

[071] - WANPIPE 2.3.3-3 (Stable)
by imipak (http://freshmeat.net/users/imipak/)
Fri, Apr 21st 2006 22:01
Communications
System :: Networking
System :: Operating System
About: WANPIPE S-series is a family of intelligent multi-protocol WAN and
ADSL adapters that support data transfer rates up to 8Mbps. All WAN
protocols supported by WANPIPE are implemented in firmware and run on the
card. An advantage of an intelligent adapter is that it offloads the
system CPU and improves stability. By adding a Sangoma WAN/ADSL component
to the Linux kernel, one can create a powerful multi-T1/ADSL
router/firewall with proven reliability of Linux. Sangoma S-series cards
support an optional on board T1/E1 CSU/DSU that eliminates all external
components of a traditional routing solution: i.e. T1/E1 line can be
directly connected to the card. WANPIPE supports the following protocols,
ATM, ADSL, Frame Relay, PPP, MULTILINK PPP, CHDLC, X25(API), BitStreaming
(API), BiSync(API), and SDLC(API). Furthermore, WANPIPE supports custom
API development such as: Credit card verification, Voice-over IP,
Satellite Comm. All device drivers are part of the standard Linux Kernel
distribution.
Changes: The driver was updated to 2.6.16. Protocol updates were made for
LIP (frame relay, PPP/CHDLC, ATM, LIP layer). The AFT A104/A104D HDLC API
was updated. The S514 CHDLC Protocol API can now be reached by
non-superusers. The AFT Firmware Flash Utility was fixed for PCI bugs.

[075] - YProlog 0.5
by Boris van Schooten (http://freshmeat.net/users/schooten/)
Fri, Apr 21st 2006 16:30
Database
Scientific/Engineering :: Artificial Intelligence
Software Development :: Libraries :: Java Libraries
About: YProlog is a pocket Prolog engine written in 100% Java. It provides
a number of fast and easy Java-Prolog interfacing functions that enables
the Prolog database to be used like an SQL-type database. It has fast
consult and retract operations, can "serialize" database contents into
text, and can easily load and store tables or contents of Java objects. It
is based on Jean Vaucher's XProlog.
Changes: This release adds assertTable. It adds a parameter type to
toPrologTable. The parser now handles UTF-8 extended characters. This
release fixes a number bug in assertFact, a buildResult/listToStringArray
bug where [] was translated to 'null', a bug where consult didn't handle
null input, a retract() bug where the first term in the goal list was not
correctly determined.
