Scientific/Engineering
Scientific/Engineering :: Bioinformatics
Scientific/Engineering :: Medical Science Apps.
About: Blossoc is a linkage disequilibrium association mapping tool that
attempts to build (perfect) genealogies for each site in the input, score
these according to non-random clustering of affected individuals, and
judge high-scoring areas as likely candidates for containing disease
affecting variation. Building the local genealogy trees is based on a
number of heuristics that are not guaranteed to build true trees, but have
the advantage over more sophisticated methods of being extremely fast.
Blossoc can therefore handle much larger data sets than more sophisticated
tools, but at the cost of sacrificing some accuracy.
Changes: This release completes the Beta phase and introduces a GUI.

Software Development :: Debuggers
About: The jBixbe debugger lets you debug Java applications on the
conceptual level of the Unified Modeling Language (UML) at which they are
designed and makes it possible to find not only simple bugs but also
weaknesses and inefficiencies in application design. It shows the big
picture of your application so you can recognize classes and objects, and
their relationships and interaction. Different view levels support
top-down debugging and simplify debugging of multi-threaded applications.
Source code debugging has been fully integrated into the object-oriented
visualization.
Changes: Windows support was added. This release also simplifies project
management with automatic open and save functionality. Source code
debugging was simplified with the ability to show class and method names
in dynamic source code view and the ability to open whole the source file
for the current method. The breakpoint view is automatically shown if a
breakpoint is reached. The debugger now uses short identifiers to display
object references.

Mon, Jun 19th 2006 04:04
Software Development :: Libraries
About: libevnet provides a suite of interfaces useful in network
applications. The API includes a buffered I/O interface, connect(2) and
accept(2) analogues, a fully featured DNS lookup package, thread pools,
and transparent OpenSSL integration. Using libevent as the
poll-select-epoll-kqueue-/dev/poll event loop, all interfaces express the
traditional Unix non-blocking I/O paradigm for the construction of
high-performance applications.
Changes: An /etc/{hosts,resolv.conf} parser bug which caused parsing to
cease at the first blank line or full-line comment was fixed. A missing
return statement was added in a static function from bufio.h which could
prevent successful compilation or cause weird run-time behavior.
socket_setsockstate() was added, so a socket object can be derived from an
existing, connected descriptor.

Mon, Jun 19th 2006 04:47
Internet :: Log Analysis
About: LogMiner is a powerful log analysis package for Apache (or other
Web servers using the "combined" log format). It can produce detailed
reports about visits, hits, traffic, navigation paths, browsers and
operating systems used by users, and so on.
Changes: LogMiner can now parse log files in the Extended W3C format, such
as the ones produced by IIS. The user agents trend graph has been made
clearer. The performance of the referrers' report has been improved when
many referrer groups are configured. Requests can be grouped together. In
the "View log" page, searches on request and referrer are now
case-insensitive.

[034] - mGSTEP 0.555
by Felipe A. Rodriguez (http://freshmeat.net/users/nsfar/)
Mon, Jun 19th 2006 04:47
About: mGSTEP is an implementation of the core elements in NeXT's (now
Apple) OPENSTEP/Cocoa Objective C class libraries. The principal design
goal is the development of a modular application development framework
suitable for use in embedded devices and server appliances running Linux,
FreeBSD, or OpenBSD. The GUI (AppKit) portion is X11-based.
Changes: This is a major release which adds FreeType support while
beginning the process of replacing the existing Display Postscript drawing
API with Apple's very similar Quartz vector drawing API. This alpha
snapshot provides native FreeType and Xrender support without the usual
additional dependencies on Xft and Fontconfig. Other enhancements include
a largely functional font panel. A bugfix and initial test were added for
the NSInvocation class. An explanation of the configuration and build
process was written.

[037] - mod_libpq 0.1a3
by horar (http://freshmeat.net/users/horar/)
Mon, Jun 19th 2006 23:55
Database
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
About: mod_libpq is an Apache 1.3 Web server module which maintains
persistent connections to one or more PostgreSQL databases, eliminating
the need for cumbersome middleware "glue". Millions of complex pages can
be fully or partially pre-rendered, stored in a database, and then served
directly to the Web. One database can be associated with the main Apache
server and an additional database can be associated with each virtual host
defined in httpd.conf. Requests are converted into a pair of user
configurable queries which are sent directly to the database via
PostgreSQL's libpq API. The first query processes the request headers and
the second query returns the document content.
Changes: This release added support for specifying the content type of
returned documents. The content type and the content and header queries
can now be associated with specific directories and locations in the
Apache configuration file, allowing much more complex Web sites to be
defined. Database connections can be deferred until the first request or
disabled entirely to reduce resource requirements. More advanced examples
were provided. The license has been changed to the BSD license.

money. You are required to feed your people and army, and to pay to
maintain your planets and army. If you fail to do these things, disastrous
results may occur. You are given several turns of protection, during which
you cannot attack or be attacked, and cannot perform covert operations.
This provides a way for smaller empires to build up their defenses and
planets before they enter the real world.

possible to either update a running system or create a binary distribution
that can later be deployed via network or physical media. The system is
extremely versatile and makes it possible to create sets of programs for
different kinds of systems, from routers to desktops, including different
architectures and platforms.
Changes: This release is focused on bringing SPARC-64 up to date with the
other architectures in T2. The SPARC-64 support is now complete, and thus
this is the first installable SPARC-64 ISO release. A lot of fixes have

currently include converters for Mozilla to PO and OpenOffice to PO, and
checkers for punctuation, accelerators, etc.
Changes: Almost all storage classes have been migrated to the project's
base class. The base class should make it easier to add new formats in the
future. Major work was done to move escaping into the storage classes and
to roundtrip escaping. Many many unit tests were added to check
compliance. Many bugs were fixed. The DTD format is no longer escaped, and
it follows the DTD spec correctly. .properties files are no longer used

Communications
Security
System :: Networking
About: Yersinia implements several attacks for the following protocols:
Spanning Tree (STP), Cisco Discovery (CDP), Dynamic Host Configuration
(DHCP), Hot Standby Router (HSRP), Dynamic Trunking (DTP), 802.1q,

Spanning Tree, creating virtual CDP neighbors, setting up rogue DHCP
servers, becoming the active router in a HSRP scenario, enabling trunk,
performing ARP spoofing over VLAN hopping, adding or deleting VLANs (via
VTP), and more.
Changes: A new GTK interface was added. A new protocol was added: 802.1x.
Lots of bugfixes were made. The core has been developed in order to easily
integrate new protocols or attacks. More documentation was written.
