[003] - An open Quality of Service Architecture 0.2.3
by cucinotta (http://freshmeat.net/users/cucinotta/)
Wed, Aug 2nd 2006 00:48
Multimedia
System :: Operating System Kernels :: Linux
About: AQuoSA is an open architecture for the provisioning of Quality of
Service related functionality into the Linux kernel. The project features
a flexible, portable, and lightweight software architecture for supporting
QoS-related services on top of a general-purpose operating system as Linux.
The architecture is well founded on formal scheduling analysis and control
theoretical results. At the core of the software is an adaptive Resource
Reservation layer that is capable of dynamically adapting the CPU
allocation for QoS-aware applications based on its run-time requirements.
Changes: This release includes minor bugfixes and improvements. For
example, the new qres-reserve application allows bandwidth to be reserved
(or allows a bandwidth reservation to be changed) for a running process.
Furthermore, the default debug level has been decreased due to some
instabilities it was causing.

Wed, Aug 2nd 2006 01:19
Scientific/Engineering :: Artificial Intelligence
Software Development :: Libraries
About: clipsmm is a C++ library that provides an interface to the CLIPS
library. CLIPS provides a C environment for the construction of rule-
and/or object-based expert systems used by NASA, branches of the military,
numerous federal bureaus, government contractors, universities, and many
companies. Several areas in which clipsmm extends the CLIPS interface are
templated function callbacks using sigc++ slots, and encapsulated CLIPS
execution environments.
Changes: This is primarily a bugfix release. The handling of the smart
pointers with regard to boost versus tr1 has been improved, and there have
been some minor bugfixes to several methods in CLIPS::Value.

[009] - Daikon 4.2.8
by Jeff Perkins (http://freshmeat.net/users/jhpnez/)
Wed, Aug 2nd 2006 09:35
Documentation
Scientific/Engineering :: Artificial Intelligence
Scientific/Engineering :: Mathematics
About: Daikon is an implementation of dynamic detection of likely
invariants. An invariant is a property (such as "x=2*y+5" or
"this.next.prev = this" or "myarray is sorted by <") that holds at a
certain point or points in a program. Invariants are often seen in assert
statements, documentation, and formal specifications. Invariants can be
useful in program understanding and a host of other applications. Daikon
runs a program, observes the values that the program computes, and then
reports properties that were true over the observed executions. It can
detect properties in Java, C, C++, Perl, and IOA programs, in spreadsheet
files, and in other data sources.
Changes: This is a maintenance release with few substantive changes.

[010] - Decimail Server 0.9
by Phil Endecott (http://freshmeat.net/users/endecotp/)
Wed, Aug 2nd 2006 13:27
Communications :: Email :: Mail Transport Agents
Communications :: Email :: Post-Office :: IMAP
Database
About: Decimail Server is a mail server supporting IMAP and SMTP that uses
a PostgreSQL database to store messages. Mailboxes are defined using SQL
queries, allowing complex client-independent automatic message filtering
and categorisation. For example you can partition your messages
chronologically, by correspondent and by mailing list at the same time
with each message appearing in several mailboxes. There is also the
potential for fast keyword searching and to link with address book
applications. Decimail also features anti-spam processing of outgoing
messages.
Changes: This release fixes an IMAP syntax bug: when an individual part of
a multi-part message is requested, the MIME header should not normally be
included in the response.

by qwert (http://freshmeat.net/users/qwert2003/)
Wed, Aug 2nd 2006 13:20
Scientific/Engineering
About: Fachwerk calculates strut-and-tie models used by structural
engineers for analysing and designing reinforced concrete structures. The
program only uses the equilibrium conditions, thus it is not assuming
elastic behaviour.
Changes: This release adds a mechanism check algorithm. It is based on
theory of plasticity's upper bound (kinematic) theorem. Mechanisms are
shown graphically, thus finding missing members of an incomplete
strut-and-tie model is simplified.

[015] - Flagpoll 0.3.0
by Daniel Shipton (http://freshmeat.net/users/dshipton/)
Wed, Aug 2nd 2006 13:29
Software Development :: Build Tools
Utilities
About: Flagpoll is a tool for developers to use meta-data files for
storing information on what is needed to compile their software. Think of
it as the rpm of software development. It provides developers with total
control over which packages, versions, architectures, et cetera that they
want to use meta-data from. Instead of specifying other packages' cflags
and ldflag manually, you can call `flagpoll mylib --cflags --ldflags` and
it will retrieve the flags for its package as well as its dependencies.
Changes: A new no-deps option addresses problems when building software
for which you want to manually break out all the dependencies of a
package, or just need information about the package and don't need
flagpoll to make sure there is a valid installation available. A new
concat option lets you specify multiple variables that you want to get
information about and return them all together on one line. A new
keep-dups option lets the user decide what to do with all of the
duplicated output, which is useful for linking lines that mix dynamic and
static linking on the output line.

SQLite 3.3.x API. It provides the most obvious features of JDBC
(Statement, PreparedStatement, etc.) and compiles SQLite into the JNI
binary, so Java programmers need only worry about a single library file.
Binaries are provided for Linux, Mac OS X, and Windows.
Changes: The driver is now thread-safe and fully supports UTF-16. There
are binaries for Mac OS, Linux, and Windows, and instructions for
compiling with MSVC.

Desktop Environment
Software Development
About: NoMachine NX is a fast terminal server system based on the X11
protocol. In addition, NX also translates and embeds the MS Windows
Terminal Server and VNC protocols into X/NX. NX is an order of magnitude
faster than VNC or X11 and can run on bandwidth as narrow as 10 kBit/sec.
By embedding RDP and RFB, it enables users to compress and accelerate
remote Windows and VNC sessions. NX lets you work fluently even across
slow links like modems. The NX project provides a suite of libraries and
X11 proxying agents implementing efficient compression and optimized
transport of X11, SMB, IPP, HTTP, and arbitrary protocols like audio over
the Internet.
Changes: This release provides fixes for a number of bugs affecting the
previous release, such as the failure of the "Enable history" button to
display the session history items in the User's session page, the problem
where settings provided by the manager.conf file may overwrite the cgi-bin
alias directives already specified in the Apache configuration, and the
potentially bad formatting of the Total and Partial Statistics of the

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Indexing/Search
About: SRESI is a smart bookmark manager, with many interesting tricks
sadly bundled in a lousy interface. SRESI works with both the standard
hierarchical trees and the new and fashionable tagged bookmarks. It was
developed as a way to interface both representation systems. SRESI can use
Del.icio.us, Mozilla, Opera, and XBEL bookmarks, and handles a few more
exports besides. Directories and tags are used equivalently, and the final
hierarchies are inferred from actual tag use.

Communications
System :: Networking
System :: Operating System
About: WANPIPE S-series is a family of intelligent multi-protocol WAN and
ADSL adapters that support data transfer rates up to 8Mbps. All WAN
protocols supported by WANPIPE are implemented in firmware and run on the
card. An advantage of an intelligent adapter is that it offloads the
system CPU and improves stability. By adding a Sangoma WAN/ADSL component
to the Linux kernel, one can create a powerful multi-T1/ADSL
router/firewall with proven reliability of Linux. Sangoma S-series cards
support an optional on board T1/E1 CSU/DSU that eliminates all external
components of a traditional routing solution: i.e. T1/E1 line can be
directly connected to the card. WANPIPE supports the following protocols,
ATM, ADSL, Frame Relay, PPP, MULTILINK PPP, CHDLC, X25(API), BitStreaming
(API), BiSync(API), and SDLC(API). Furthermore, WANPIPE supports custom
API development such as: Credit card verification, Voice-over IP,
Satellite Comm. All device drivers are part of the standard Linux Kernel
distribution.
Changes: A pulse dialing bug in A200 driver was fixed. The AFT HWEC on
64-bit kernels was fixed. A108D hardware support was added. A bugfix was
made in A104 and A104D Ref Clock. Updates were made for 2.6.16 and 2.6.17
kernels. Frame relay was updated with EEK support. PPP IP negotiation was
updated. A fatal bug in the ADSL driver was fixed. The AFT A104/A108
driver was updated for 64-bit kernels with over 4GB of memory. Sangoma
Signal Media Gateway has been added to the package. LibSangoma has been
