Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
About: Advanced Website Creator is a Web development environment. Created
websites use an MVC framework written in PHP 5 and a simple database
abstraction layer. At present the database layer supports MySQL and
PostgreSQL as backends. All PHP classes are auto-loaded, so there is no
need to include() or require() files manually.

Database
Documentation
Information Management
About: AgileWiki is a Java-based wiki that provides a virtual wiki for
each registered user, complete with access control and versioning. The
backend includes a built-in database (which uses flat files) and
communicates via RMI to either a Servlet (packaged as a WAR file) or to a
Swing client. AgileWiki is also both an application platform and a
knowledge management system.
Changes: The infobase command is now accessible to all. The setLEnt
command now requires the Ledgers feature to be enabled. The setCEnt
command now requires the Classifiers feature to be enabled. The setDU and
setDEnt commands now require the Descriptors feature to be enabled. A few
tracebacks have been added in an attempt to track down some recurring
bugs. The client API has been cleaned up somewhat. The crTagMatch command
now sets the IncludeReferent LEnt, anticipating a more configurable tag
match capability.

Communications :: Internet Phone
Communications :: Telephony
Multimedia :: Sound/Audio
About: Bayonne is the telephony server of the GNU project. It offers a
script-driven threaded multi-line state event telephony service on
GNU/Linux, xBSD, and Microsoft Windows for building voice response
systems, and uses telephony plugins for runtime driver configuration. It
also features "TGI" for making Perl applications "telephony aware". It may
be used to build telephony-based system administration, home automation,
automated attendant, v-commerce, and voice messaging systems.
Changes: Lots of minor enhancements were made in SIP operation, including
the ability to specify answering mode attributes in registry and extension
properties. Delayed answering and unbilling call rejection is supported, as
well as extended 3g/ims answering handshakes, along with improvements in
sdp negotiation and support for sdp codec attributes. Improvements have
been made to silent filled audio in rtp (Bayonne normally defaults to
supression of silent RTP packets to reduce network traffic).

by coeli (http://freshmeat.net/users/coeli/)
Sat, Sep 9th 2006 11:31
Database :: Database Engines/Servers
Scientific/Engineering :: Astronomy
Software Development :: Libraries
About: Coeli SkyServer streams live astronomical data to file at
user-specified intervals. It is a computationally rigorous backend for
planetaria, sky charts, ephemerides, astrological, or any application that
may need real-time celestial data, making such data continuously available
for processing either textually or graphically by your display script.
SkyServer dishes your data out in digestible form, readable by both human
and software. The package includes SkyShow Electric Planisphere, a GTK+
frontend for SkyServer.
Changes: Recent and periodic comets were added, along with bright,
critical, distant, and unusual asteroids: over 1000 new non-stellar
objects. Real-time control of Skyserver was extended with the facility to
center the sky projection dynamically on any stellar object chosen by the
client script. The range of star data output has also been enhanced.
Improvements to the SkyShow GTK+ frontend include stars labelled by IAU
designation, a full pop-up report on any object clicked, plus the option
to auto-center the sky display on the currently selected star.

by Michael Rash (http://freshmeat.net/users/michaelrash/)
Sat, Sep 9th 2006 00:20
Security :: Cryptography
About: gpgdir is a Perl script that uses the CPAN GnuPG module to encrypt
and decrypt directories using a GPG key specified in ~/.gpgdirrc. It
supports recursively descending through a directory in order to make sure
it encrypts or decrypts every file in a directory and all of its
subdirectories. All file mtime and atime values are preserved across
encryption and decryption operations. In addition, gpgdir is careful not
to encrypt hidden files and directories.
Changes: An RPM release is now available. The --Skip-mod-install command
line argument was added to install.pl to allow all Perl module installs to
be skipped. A --force-mod-regex command line argument in install.pl allows
a regex match on Perl module names to force matching modules to be
installed. TermReadKey was updated from 2.21 to 2.30.

[024] - Knoppix_remoteconf 0.98b
by Nathaniel M Nelson (http://freshmeat.net/users/xatmes/)
Sat, Sep 9th 2006 22:49
About: Knoppix_remoteconf is a set of patches for the Knoppix live CD/DVD
distribution that allow Knoppix configurations to be saved and retrieved
via the network (instead of from local storage media) These patches are
for /etc/init.d/knoppix-autoconfig and /usr/sbin/saveconfig.
Changes: The "nobgdhcp" cheatcode was added to knoppix-autoconfig, which
keeps the dhcpcd process from going into the background during bootup. If
it takes a while to get an IP from your DHCP server, this might be
necessary for you so that there is enough time between getting an IP and
getting knoppix_remoteconf.tar.bz2. /usr/sbin/saveconfig will now save
your previous input when saving your configurations on a remote machine.

Software Development :: User Interfaces
About: Papyrus is a 2D C++ scenegraph (canvas) library that utilizes the
cairo library to perform drawing operations. Similar canvas libraries are
the Gnome Canvas, Diacanvas, and the QT Canvas. Numerous canvas primitives
are available, including arcs, rectangles, polylines, and line markers. An
optional companion library, Papyrusmm, provides a set of Gtkmm widgets
which includes viewports (a canvas display widget similar to
Gtk::DrawingArea) and other UI widgets related to drawing interfaces.
Changes: This release supports both Cairo 1.0.x and 1.2.x. It adds support
for relative vertices, extends the demo apps, adds color schemes
(complements, triads, tints, etc.), adds color support (X11 color names,
Hue-Saturation-Brightness, Hue-Lightness-Saturation, etc.), adds new
shapes (Koch Snowflake, Sierpinski Curve, Hilbert Curve), extends the
functionality of several controllers, exchanges the glibmm animator
dependency for glib, improves text handling, and and cleans up some minor
bugs.

by Jonas Liljegren (http://freshmeat.net/users/aigan/)
Sat, Sep 9th 2006 00:30
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
About: Para::Frame is a system to use for dynamic Web sites. It runs as a
backend daemon taking page requests from an Apache mod_perl client and
returns an HTTP response. The URLs on the site correspond to templates for
displaying information. Operations on the data are contained in Perl
modules separated from the templates.
Changes: A lot of major changes and additions were made. 19 new classes
were added, including classes for relational database access,
internationalization, and file and directory handling. The server/client
communication has changed and is now safer and faster. A load-page will
display a progress report from the server before the new page is loaded.
The html/pf directory now contains some default images, styles,
JavaScript, and more. A demo has been included.

Multimedia :: Graphics :: Editors :: Vector-Based
Scientific/Engineering :: Astronomy
Scientific/Engineering :: Visualization
About: SaVi is satellite visualization software that lets you create, run,
examine, and modify satellite orbits in two and three dimensions.
Simulations of Iridium, Globalstar, Galileo, GPS, and other satellite
constellations are included. SaVi requires Tcl and Tk on a system with
Unix libraries. SaVi works well with the 3D renderer Geomview. Geomview is
optional, though recommended for its 3D rendering capabilities.
Changes: This includes all work done for a workshop on satellite
applications and constellations given as a guest lecturer at the
International Space University Summer Session. Fisheye rendering when
"satellite cones" is selected was improved. The code compiles under gcc
4.0 and on Mac OS X with make ARCH=macosx. Geomview version and rendering
detection were improved, which is useful for the upcoming Geomview 1.8.2
release. Coverage color keys are hidden when coverage or diversity
checkboxes are unchecked.

by Dominique Reymond (http://freshmeat.net/users/Reymond/)
Sat, Sep 9th 2006 00:37
Scientific/Engineering
About: Seismic Toolkit is a tool for processing and displaying seismic
signal data in a graphical interface. It reads seismic signals in SAC
format, and provides a variety of signal processing, such as filtering,
spectral analysis, polarisation analysis, time-frequency representation,
Hilbert transform, and singular value decomposition. Some utilities are
included for useful seismological applications, like computation of
Seismic Moment Mo, Mantle magnitude Mm and Moment magnitude Mw, MTPA
spectral analysis, plotting focal mechanisms, computation (and plotting)
of instrumental response from poles and zeros, and some usefull GMT
(Generic Mapping Tool) scripts for plotting signals, responses, and
time-frequency in Postscript files for high quality prints.
Changes: The Win2 version now seems to be stable, but the code does not
support optimization. Frequencies in MHz are now written in Mm_vs_period.
A problem in MM_mag where the Mm_vs_period file was opened and not closed
was fixed. g_malloc() was changed to malloc() and f_free() was changed to
free() to avoid error with Windows at run-time.
