About: Annvix is a secure Linux server distribution. The goal is to
provide an easy-to-use server distribution with high security features
including a secure kernel, gcc with SPP stack protection patches, and

baby brother), tripwire, snort, and chkrootkit. It uses urpmi for package
management.

adjacent tracks. It supports high quality sample rate conversion between
the file and the output device. It supports almost all sample-based,

Ogg Vorbis, Ogg Speex, MPEG Audio, MOD Audio (MOD, S3M, XM, IT, etc.),
Musepack, Monkey's Audio Codec, AC3, AAC, WMA, and WavPack. It can play

Music Store that is an XML-based music database capable of storing various

Changes: This release introduces important new features and bugfixes.

About: Areca is a file backup system that supports data compression and
encryption, incremental backups, a file history explorer, and many other
features. It includes a transaction mechanism, which guarantees the
integrity of your backups. Two user interfaces are available: a
command-line interface (useful for backup process automation) and a
graphical user interface (useful for general administration tasks).

Changes: This version fixes a bug introduced in 4.1.6 that caused archives
to be corrupted when merged. It is highly advised to rebuild your archives
from scratch with version 4.1.7 if you have merged them with 4.1.6. Note

are concerned.

About: The chemical-mime-data package is a collection of data files to add
support for various chemical MIME types on Linux/Unix desktops, such as KDE

Initial data was taken from "The Chemical MIME Home Page" of Henry Rzepa.

About: Gujin is a PC boot loader which can analyze your filesystems. It
finds the Linux kernel images available, as well as other bootable
partitions (for *BSD, MS-DOS, Windows, etc.), and displays a graphical
menu for selecting which system to boot. Because it understands the
structure of Linux kernel images, Gujin does not need LILO and can even
load very big kernels. There is no need to execute anything after making a
new kernel: just copy the kernel image file into the "/boot" directory.
Gujin is written almost entirely in C with GCC, and it fully executes in
real mode to be as compatible as possible.

Changes: This release fixes executables (instboot, addhole...) to run on
Debian and Knoppix, not just Fedora6. It adds some improvements to
"instboot --quickboot=1" behaviour (when a single system is installed on
the PC). There is a better diagnostic in instboot when it should generate
a partition table, and some improvement in the ELF loading process.

About: SRESI is a smart bookmark manager. It currently sports both a
command-line and a PHP interface. It works with both the standard
hierarchical trees and the new and fashionable tagged bookmarks. It was
developed as a way to interface both representation systems. SRESI can use
Del.icio.us, Mozilla, Opera, and XBEL bookmarks, and handles a few more
exports besides. Directories and tags are used equivalently, and the final
hierarchies are inferred from actual tag use.

Changes: The portal generation has been rewritten to use hash tables. It
is now much faster and should scale better.

Internet :: File Transfer Protocol (FTP)

About: stftp ("simple" terminal FTP) is a small FTP client for the Unix
console. It uses the curses library to present the remote directory as a
navigable list, affording more ease of use than many other interactive
clients.

Changes: A new filter command was added, which allows the user to show
only those files beginning with a given string. This should help navigate
lengthy directory listings, among other uses.

About: The Sybase module for Python provides an interface to the Sybase
relational database system. It supports all of the Python Database API.

Changes: This release works with Python 2.5, Sybase 15, and 64-bit
clients. It can be configured to return native Python datetime objects.
The bulkcopy functionality has been resurrected. A unit test suite based
on the dbapi 2.0 compliance test suite has been added. Many bugs have been
corrected.

About: The sysstat package contains the sar, sadf, iostat and mpstat,
commands for Linux. The sar command collects and reports system activity
information. The sadf command may be used to display data collected by sar
in various formats (XML, database-friendly, etc.). The iostat command
reports CPU statistics and I/O statistics for tty devices and disks. The
mpstat command reports global and per-processor statistics. The
information collected by sar can be saved in a file in a binary format for
future inspection. The statistics reported by sar concern I/O transfer
rates, paging activity, process-related activites, interrupts, network
activity, memory and swap space utilization, CPU utilization, kernel
activities, and TTY statistics, among others. Both UP and SMP machines are
fully supported.

Changes: linux/major.h was removed from the list of files included in
ioconf.c. It was actually not used and also prevented sysstat from being
compiled on GNU/kFreeBSD. The sysstat scripts (sa1, sa2, and sysstat) were
modified to enable the user to keep sar data for more than one month. The
(COMPRESSAFTER) parameter was added to /etc/sysconfig/sysstat. It gives
the number of days after which sar data files must be compressed to save
disk space.

About: uClinux is a set of patches for Linux that supports MMUless
processors. It brings a full featured operating system onto platforms that

suite. It includes set of libraries (for things like GUI and SQL) and an
integrated development environment. Rapid development is achieved by smart

preserving C/C++ runtime characteristics. Its integrated development

About: WANPIPE S-series is a family of intelligent multi-protocol WAN and
ADSL adapters that support data transfer rates up to 8Mbps. All WAN
protocols supported by WANPIPE are implemented in firmware and run on the
card. An advantage of an intelligent adapter is that it offloads the
system CPU and improves stability. By adding a Sangoma WAN/ADSL component
to the Linux kernel, one can create a powerful multi-T1/ADSL
router/firewall with proven reliability of Linux. Sangoma S-series cards

Changes: The AFT A104d T1 channel 24 now initializes correctly. The A200

correctly when there are no initial FXO/FXS modules. Memory allocation now
works on low memory machines. Kernel support was added for Linux 2.6.18 and
2.6.19. Several race conditions on driver initialization and shutdown have
been fixed.

About: YaPIDE aims to be a fully featured Microchip PIC simulator for
Linux (and probably other Unixes). It is a GUI that provides a viewer for
RAM, ROM, stack, breakpoints, and watchpoints, and has a source editor
with inline debugging (ASM). The chip currently supported is the 16F628
(partial).

Changes: The configure script and compilation issues with gcc 4.x were
fixed.
