[001] - Advanced Website Creator 1.6.1
by Vesselin Atanasov (http://freshmeat.net/users/vesselin/)
Wed, Feb 7th 2007 23:04
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Site Management
Software Development
About: Advanced Website Creator is a Web development environment. Created
websites use an MVC framework written in PHP 5 and a simple database
abstraction layer. At present the database layer supports MySQL and
PostgreSQL as backends. All PHP classes are auto-loaded, so there is no
need to include() or require() files manually. Search engine friendly URLs
are supported via mod_rewrite.
Changes: A bug in the nested set library has been fixed. This fix removes
fatal errors that occurred randomly when a new action or URL is added to a
project. A bug has been fixed which prevented correct conversion of
non-text URLs to text URLs.

[002] - AlchemySOAP 1.0.0
by Orchestr8 (http://freshmeat.net/users/orchestr8/)
Wed, Feb 7th 2007 09:52
Internet :: WWW/HTTP
Software Development :: Libraries
Software Development :: Object Brokering
About: AlchemySOAP is a fork of the EasySoap++ SOAP 1.1 library, adding
enhanced protocol support (SOAP 1.2), a large number of automated unit
tests and interoperability tests, multithreaded SOAP request handling,
optional SSL/DOM, serialization improvements to work with WS-* protocols,
and more features. AlchemySOAP can interoperate with a large number of
third party SOAP stacks. It includes implementations of all SOAP 1.2
interoperability tests defined in "W3C Recommendation: SOAP Version 1.2
Specification, Assertions and Test Collection". This library is designed
with speed and portability in mind. It has been tested on Win32 and Linux,
but should work on most POSIX-compliant operating systems.
Changes: Support for SOAP 1.2 was added. The SOAPServer and
SOAPServerDispatch classes were refactored to allow multithreaded handling
of requests. Serialization and deserialization of Xerces-C elements are
supported. Saving whitespace between SOAP elements during deserialization
and including it during serialization is supported. This allows a SOAP
message to remain the same after the deserialization or serialization
cycle (which is needed for WS-Security).

About: Asbru Web Content Management is an easy-to-use and inexpensive Web
content management system. It runs on most major Web platform operating
systems, databases, Web servers, and scripting languages. It is available
in three editions: Personal (for individuals), Professional (for
organizations), and Hosting (for Web hosting service providers).
Changes: This release adds improvements for Asbru Web Content Management
hosting providers. A special hosting company template has been added. This
template enables hosting customers to order the Asbru Web Content
Management system. Customer Web sites are automatically setup and
configured, and emails with Web site details are sent to customers. The
hosting company template also includes a support forum and support ticket

Games/Entertainment :: Puzzle Games
About: Brikx is a small puzzle game in which your goal is to remove all
tiles from the table. You are held up by other tiles, gravity walls, and
other things, and you can even redesign the level while playing.
Changes: Three tilesets and two difficulty levels were added. The maximum
amount of special functions can be limited, but this does not affect games
set to the "Easy" difficulty level. There's a new special function: Push.

[005] - Compute Portal Project 0.8.6
by Shawn Houston (http://freshmeat.net/users/shouston/)
Wed, Feb 7th 2007 17:20
About: A portal project to produce a Web-based front end to a compute
resource, such as a cluster, using PHP, MySQL, and Apache. The intent is
to allow non-programmers to use complex programs through an intuitive
interface.
Changes: This release includes incomplete support for SGE. The SGE
wrapper.pl script included in the download is configured for MPICH, as it
was developed on a ROCKS cluster. There is now audit logging. There is
some limited session management to reduce load on the database server. The
extra menu items are generated using an XML file. This version is
compatible with IE7.

Multimedia :: Video :: Conversion
About: DeVeDe is a program to create video DVDs (compatible with home
players) from nearly any video format. It only uses Python 2.4, MPlayer,
Mencoder, DVDAuthor, VCDImager, and mkisofs, so it has very few
dependencies.
Changes: This release allows you to specify the codepage for subtitles,
allowing the use of UTF-8 encoded files (or with other codepages). When
the original video has 24 fps and the destination is a NTSC DVD, DeVeDe
will use 24000/1001 fps instead of 30000/1001. Subtitles in NTSC format
will be fully visible. Some bugs in the main loop that sometimes hung the
conversion process have been fixed. All the sentences in the interface are
correctly translated. mencoder or spumux failures result in an error
message. Some issues in the Windows code have been fixed.

by Manuel Lemos (http://freshmeat.net/users/mlemos/)
Wed, Feb 7th 2007 23:06
Internet :: WWW/HTTP
Software Development :: Libraries :: PHP Classes
About: HTTP client is a PHP class to make HTTP requests. It can submit
requests via a proxy server and establish secure connections (HTTPS) with
optional SSL client certificates. It supports HTTP authentication
mechanisms like HTTP Basic, HTTP Digest, and NTLM (Windows or Samba). It
submits POST requests with user-defined form values, file uploading, or
with user-defined request bodies. It handles cookies and automatic
redirection handling. There is an addon class to log in to Yahoo and
execute actions on behalf of the user, like exporting the address book or
sending invitations to Yahoo groups.
Changes: The HTTP client class was enhanced to save and restore the
cookies sent by the sites, so it can resume the sessions and reuse cookies
later when the class is used to access the same sites. The Yahoo user class
was fixed to correctly save an address book to a CSV file dealing with the

[016] - HylaFAX 5.0.4
by Lee Howard (http://freshmeat.net/users/faxguy/)
Wed, Feb 7th 2007 23:11
Communications :: Fax
About: HylaFAX is a fax and paging system for Unix. It supports sending
facsimile, receiving facsimile, polled retrieval of facsimile, transparent
shared data use of the modem and sending alpha-numeric pages. The software
is structured around a client-server architecture. Fax modems may reside
on a single machine on a network and clients can submit outbound jobs from
any machine that can communicate with the machine on which the modems
reside. An access control mechanism is included to control which users on
which machines may access a server.
Changes: The timeout for "awaiting ECM synchronization" was extended. The
event is logged correctly when a receiver DIS indicates no V.8 bit but V.8
was already known to have succeeded. Default SessionTracing was changed to
0xFFF. The tiffcp exit code data in tiff2fax is no longer clobbered. The
#include configuration file feature was changed to be a uniform,
colon-delimited format like other configuration options. Blocked jobs are
no longer ignored. DesiredEC support was fixed in sendfax.conf. The hfaxd
JPARM ECMTYPE option was added. DLE+ETX is used in resetting more
carefully and sparingly. The Class1PageWidthSupport modem configuration
option was added.

to make the hardware suffer as much as possible. This tool has been used
to test filesystems, drivers, firmware, and hardware devices. It is by no
means meant as a performance measuring tool since it tries to recreate the

Wed, Feb 7th 2007 04:25
Internet :: Log Analysis
Software Development :: Internationalization
Software Development :: Libraries :: Perl Modules
About: IP::Country is a tool for fast lookup of country codes from IP
addresses. Finding out the country of a client using only the IP address
can be difficult. Looking up the domain name associated with that address
can provide some help, but many IP address are not reverse mapped to any
useful domain, and the most common domain (.com) offers no help when
looking for country. This module comes bundled with a database of
countries where various IP addresses have been assigned. Although the
country of assignment will probably be the country associated with a large
ISP rather than the client herself, this is probably good enough for most
log analysis applications, and under test has proved to be as accurate as
reverse-DNS and WHOIS lookup.
Changes: The database was updated to the Regional Internet Registries'
February 2007 release. Minor bugs were fixed.

About: The PreludeDB Library provides an abstraction layer upon the type
and format of the database used to store IDMEF alerts. It allows
developers to use the Prelude IDMEF database easily and efficiently
without worrying about SQL, and to access the database independently of
the type/format of the database.
Changes: An invalid free in the SQLite plugin has been fixed.
preludedb-admin copy/move operations have been fixed.

Software Development :: Libraries
Software Development :: Localization
Text Processing
About: libuninum is a library for converting Unicode strings to integers
and integers to Unicode strings. Internal computation is done using
arbitrary precision arithmetic, so there is no limit on the size of the
integer that can be converted. Values are passed and returned as ASCII
decimal strings, GNU MP mpz_t objects, or unsigned long integers.
Auto-detection of the number system is provided. Very many number systems
are supported. Group delimitation for output strings is fully
controllable.
Changes: Major changes in the library include support for Chinese Counting
Rods, Georgian, and Kharoshthi, full control of group delimitation, and the
ability to handle Western numbers in bases 2-36. The command-line utility
numconv has been completely rewritten and now has a manual page.

Software Development :: Libraries :: PHP Classes
About: PHP MIME Mail decoder class is a PHP class to parse and decode MIME
email messages. It supports decoding single RFC 2822 MIME messages or
archives that aggregate multiple messages in the mbox format. It can
decode messages read from files or data strings. The bodies of multipart
messages can be decoded into distinct sub-messages. Optionally, the
message body data can be saved to separate files, so the class can handle
messages larger than the available memory. The parser can tolerate some
syntax errors in malformed messages that are not compliant with RFC 2822.

the filenames of embedded file parts and attachment parts included in a
message, so the developer can easily save the message files with the
original file names.

Database :: Database Engines/Servers
Software Development :: Libraries :: Java Libraries
System :: Monitoring
About: StreamCruncher is an Event Processor. It supports a language based
on SQL which allows you to define "Event Processing" constructs like
Sliding Windows, Time Based Windows, Partitions, and Aggregates. Such
constructs allow for the specification of boundaries (some are time
sensitive) on a Stream of Events that SQL does not provide. Queries can be
written using this language, which in turn can be used to monitor streams
of incoming events. It also provides a feature similar to materialized
views. Joins and sub-queries are also supported to allow event
co-relation. A database is used underneath to do the heavy lifting.
Changes: Solid JDBC Driver Build 04.50.0110 and above does not have issues
with Result.getTimestamp() on Timestamp columns. The StreamCruncher patch
for this has been removed as there is no need for it anymore. Different
Windows in the same Partition can have different Window sizes.
WindowSizeProvider and TimeWindowSizeProvider classes in the
streamcruncher.api package can be used for such customizations. A detailed
example is provided in TimeWFPartitionWinSizeProviderTest.

Software Development :: Version Control
Software Development :: Version Control :: Subversion
About: Subversive is a pure Java Eclipse plug-in that provides Subversion
(SVN) support. From a user's point of view, it provides Subversion support
similar to CVS support, which is already part of the standard Eclipse
platform. Besides functionality, it offers good usability and nice user
interface.
Changes: The operation to share multiple projects was added. The operation
to merge multiple projects was added. The operation to switch multiple
projects was added. The "Open With" submenu item was added to the History
View popup menu. svn:externals commit behavior was fixed. A null pointer
exception in the Share operation was fixed. Export operation failure was
fixed. Other bugfixes were applied.

[061] - Sylpheed 2.4.0beta3 (Development)
by Hiroyuki Yamamoto (http://freshmeat.net/users/hiroy/)
Wed, Feb 7th 2007 05:10
Communications :: Email :: Email Clients (MUA)
About: Sylpheed is a simple, lightweight but featureful, and easy-to-use
email client. It has a well-polished and comfortable user interface. It
has many features such as multiple accounts, thread display, MIME,
powerful filtering, various search interface, spell checking, and junk
mail control. It supports common email protocols such as POP3, IMAP4rev1,
SMTP, and security features such as GnuPG and SSL/TLSv1. It is also fully
internationalized and multilingualized.
Changes: The toolbar customization dialog was improved. The "Not junk" and
"Search" buttons were added to the main toolbar. The "Send" button is
disabled when no queued messages exist. Junk mails are filtered when
incorporating from a local spool even if "Filter on incorporation" is
disabled. Several bugs of the search dialog were fixed. In Win32, the
sorted column of the selected row on the summary view becomes visible when
it doesn't have focus. In Win32, system fonts with multi-byte font names
(such as "MS PGothic" and "Meiryo") can be available now.

[062] - Tag Soup 1.0.3
by John Cowan (http://freshmeat.net/users/johnwcowan/)
Wed, Feb 7th 2007 00:11
Text Processing :: Markup :: HTML/XHTML
About: TagSoup is a SAX2 parser written in Java that, instead of parsing
well-formed or valid XML, parses HTML as it is found in the wild: nasty
and brutish, though quite often far from short. By providing a SAX
interface, it allows standard XML tools to be applied to even the worst
HTML. It is a parser, not a whole application; it isn't intended to
permanently clean up bad HTML, as HTML Tidy does, only to parse it on the
fly.
Changes: A DOCTYPE declaration will be output if there is one in the
input. The --ignorable switch was added to preserve whitespace in element
content. The --output-encoding switch was added to specify output
encoding. The default values for html/@version were removed. Various minor
bugs were fixed.

Education
Games/Entertainment :: Puzzle Games
About: tbclock is a small app that displays a full screen binary clock in
your terminal (using curses). It doesn't support resizing (yet). It is
quite simple, and features modules like 'guessbin' (a little game) and
'chrono' (a timer with tenths of seconds).
Changes: Users can now display decimal help in a different form by using
the "h" key in "clock" and "chrono" or with -H on the command line. You
can now review your answers in guessbin by using "r" at the score table.

[064] - Testilence 0.0.0.snap200702080007
by Roman Neuhauser (http://freshmeat.net/users/neuhauser/)
Wed, Feb 7th 2007 17:22
Software Development :: Libraries :: PHP Classes
Software Development :: Testing
About: Testilence is a unit-testing library for programs written in PHP 5.
Although it is similar to other JUnit-inspired unit testing libraries,
Testilence is written with an emphasis on what's useful, not what's usual.
That said, most clever ways of doing useful things for unit test authors
and users have already been discovered. Testilence combines original ideas
with the best features found in different unit-testing toolkits into a
coherent set.
Changes: The command line frontend tence(1) has been replaced by a POSIX
shell script; now it works even with hostile include_path. The -i option
has been renamed to -I. Identification of failing inherited test methods
has been fixed. There are many developer-visible changes. Many tests were
cleaned up to reduce code duplication.

Scientific/Engineering
About: Frink is a calculating tool and programming language designed to
help you in the real world. It tracks units of measurement throughout all
calculations and ensures that answers are correct. It converts between
systems of measurement and has a huge library of physical data. It handles
conversions between time zones, currencies, and historical values of the
U.S. dollar and the British pound, translates between several languages,
does date/time math, and more.
Changes: This release fixes language translations to work again. In
addition, there were further changes to make certain objects, notably
small integers, to be allocated from a cache to reduce memory usage and
reduce garbage collection.

[066] - The Mana World 0.0.22.1
by Bjørn Lindeijer (http://freshmeat.net/users/bjorn81/)
Wed, Feb 7th 2007 17:21
Games/Entertainment :: Role-Playing
About: The Mana World (TMW) is a serious effort to create an innovative
free and open source MMORPG. It uses 2D graphics and aims to create a
large and diverse interactive world. The game aims to be a unique place
for people to interact not only by fighting each other but to play life,
form a community within the community, or just simply chat. Although the
game is never-ending and a linear story cannot be applied, it should have
enough background to describe and predefine tribes, kingdoms, and the
environment overall. Fullfilled quests should lead to certain events
depending on them being solved. Quests should also encourage teamwork.
Changes: This release fixes the annoying bug where a player sometimes
started to walk when you clicked on the GUI. It has been upgraded to
Guichan 0.6.0.

Communications
Internet
Internet :: Proxy Servers
About: Tor is a network of virtual tunnels that allows people and groups
to improve their privacy and security on the Internet. It also enables
software developers to create new communication tools with built-in
privacy features. It provides the foundation for a range of applications
that allow organizations and individuals to share information over
public networks without compromising their privacy. Individuals can use
it to keep remote Websites from tracking them and their family members.
They can also use it to connect to resources such as news sites or
instant messaging services that are blocked by their local Internet
service providers (ISPs).
Changes: This release makes rate limiting much more comfortable for
servers. A huge number of bugs were fixed.

[069] - udpcast 20070205
by Alain (http://freshmeat.net/users/alainknaff/)
Wed, Feb 7th 2007 11:17
Communications
Communications :: File Sharing
Internet :: File Transfer Protocol (FTP)
About: UDPCast allows to send data simultaneously to many destinations on
a local net. This can for instance be used to install entire classrooms of
PCs at once. The advantage over using other methods (nfs, ftp, whatever) is
that udpcast uses Ethernet's multicast abilities: it won't take longer to
install 15 machines than it would to install 2. The tool comes with a
busybox bootdisk for easy loading of the tool. However, udpcast can also
be started from the command line of an already installed system, and can
be used for other purposes than just system installation.
Changes: Adapted to the new directory structure of the SATA/PATA drivers
in the Linux kernel.
