Internet
Security
System :: Networking

About: Astaro Command Center (ACC) is an application for centralized
management of Astaro Security Gateways. With ACC, network administrators
can easily manage and control multiple Astaro devices. The intuitive
Web-based user interface provides an effective overview that details the
actual health of each device, swiftly allowing administrators to see which
gateways require immediate action. ACC offers monitoring, inventory
management, central update management, WebAdmin single-sign-on, and a
world map view.

Changes: This version changes the GUI to the new look and feel of the ASG
V7 style and it adds V7 support. It also handles the new daylight saving
time dates from the Energy Savings Act in the US and Canada. Cluster
monitoring global pattern version and UPS battery charge monitoring are
now supported, and ACC can be used as an Up2Date Cache for all V7
packages. Besides these new features, some minor bugs were fixed.

About: GNU Libidn is an implementation of the Stringprep, Punycode, and
IDNA specifications defined by the IETF Internationalized Domain Names
(IDN) working group. It is used to prepare internationalized strings (such
as domain name labels, usernames, and passwords) in order to increase the
likelihood that string input and string comparison work in ways that make
sense for typical users throughout the world. The library contains a
generic Stringprep implementation that does Unicode 3.2 NFKC
normalization, mapping and prohibition of characters, and bidirectional
character handling. Profiles for iSCSI, Kerberos 5, Nameprep, SASL, and
XMPP are included. Punycode and ASCII Compatible Encoding (ACE) via IDNA
are supported.

Changes: The C# Libidn port was updated. The gnulib files were updated,
inluding use of the "striconv" module instead of the "iconvme", which
causes a slight increase of code size (from 303kb to 319kb with debugging
symbols on i386).

  Tue, Mar 13th 2007 23:23

Games/Entertainment
Games/Entertainment :: Role-Playing
Games/Entertainment :: Turn Based Strategy

About: Marauroa is a multiplayer online game framework server. It uses a
multithreaded server architecture with a UDP oriented network protocol, a
MySQL based persistence engine, and a flexible game system. The game
system is totally expandable and modifiable by game developers and is able
to run Python scripts defining the game's rules. Marauroa is based on a
design philosophy called Action/Perception. Marauroa is totally game
agnostic and makes very little assumptions about what are you trying to
do, allowing a great freedom to create any game type.

Changes: This release is still experimental, so version 1.34 should be
used for playing Stendhal normally. Bugs were fixed regarding database
methods for loading, storing, and querying for a character; database
methods for storing and loading a zone; a logout race condition; a network
disconnect callback method not being called; and a Perception exception in
the client. A sync flag that was not correctly set at the server, a
default RPClass problem, a problem where the server sent messages after a
connection closed, and a problem with RPEvent were also fixed. Marauroa
can be run as java -jar marauroa.jar and the configuration file now
defaults to server.ini.

  Tue, Mar 13th 2007 01:46

About: memlockd locks a list of files into RAM so that if the system
starts paging excessively (as the result of a DOS attack or buggy
program), the sysadmin will still be able to login to recover it. It will
lock regular files as well as programs in memory, and for programs, it can
optionally lock all shared objects that they are linked against.

Changes: The daemon now writes a PID file. The restart option of the

instance can kill the old one. This means that there is no time window
when memlockd is not running.

Changes: The makefile has been fixed and extended, and auto-padding when
numbering in decreasing order has also been fixed. A new
internationalization system that looks nicer and allows translation of the

  by MicroNova (http://freshmeat.net/users/mnagata/)
  Tue, Mar 13th 2007 01:34

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Software Development :: Libraries :: Java Libraries

About: MicroNova YUZU is an EL-based JSP tag library designed to augment
JSTL and transform JSP into a powerful XML-style "scripting language"
(compatible with both JSP 1.2 and 2.0). Features include: stackable
(nestable beyond tagfile boundaries) tags, nestable/encodable map with
XML/JSON support, "codec" functions, structured param with file
upload/select/radio support, "subroutine" call returning non-string
Object, dynamic embedded EL pattern evaluation for regular text and SQL
queries, HTTP client and response control, an HTML-to-DOM parser,
multipart email and mailbox, dynamic method
invocation/iterator/map/resource message map, and more. All YUZU tags
follow a single behavioral pattern (prepare, import, default, process,
assign, export) for ease of learning and extension.

Changes: The dependency on pagescope was removed from tag value return.
The tag stack is now accessible by _JSP:getCallStack_. Options were added
to NodeMap:decode (Document/DocumentBuilder properties).
Writer/OutputStream is now allowed as an operand for
String:append/String:prepend. An optional JSPWriter argument was added to
_JSP:flush/_JSP:clear. _JSP:getAttributes/_JSP:putAttributes codecs were
added. 'index' can now be initialized in ELIterator.

About: mxGraph is a JavaScript library that uses built-in browser
capabilities to provide an interactive drawing and diagramming solution.
Target applications are Web based applications that require workflow/BPM,
diagram, network, or general graph editing to be available in-place on a
Web page.

Changes: Of major note, HTML labels have been added in SVG browsers.
Previously, this was only possible in Internet Explorer. See the known
issues document for usage details. A new edge style called entity
relations has been added to give more flexibility with routing. Child
vertices may now be positioned relative to the parent group cell, which
gives the option of displaying "port" type vertices for connecting to
specific points on a vertex.

Internet :: Name Service (DNS)
Office/Business

About: Net::DRI is a Perl library that offers a uniform API to access
services from domain name registries, registrars, and resellers. It is an
object-oriented framework that can be easily extended. It includes various
protocols (such as RRP, EPP, or custom protocols) and various transport
methods (such as TCP, TLS, SOAP, or SMTP). It currently handles .EU, .BE,
SE, .PL, .WS, .MOBI, .AERO, .CAT, .US, .COM/.NET, and .FR, with each
TLD's own extensions, as well as all generic RRP and EPP based registries
(hence all gTLDs registries). It can also be used for ENUM registrations.

Changes: This release adds full support for .AT and .COOP as well as .ORG
and .INFO, better handling of registry messages, small changes in the
latest EPP drafts, updates for .SE, and various improvements and bugfixes
to .BE, .EU, and .MOBI.

[032] - Nicotine-Plus 1.2.7.1
  by daelstorm (http://freshmeat.net/users/daelstorm/)
  Tue, Mar 13th 2007 05:38

About: Nicotine-Plus is a fork of Nicotine, the Python/GTK+ 2 client for
the Soulseek P2P Network. Its features include remote uploads, separate
shares sent to Buddies, GUI improvements, and a tray icon.

Changes: The "About Nicotine+" dialog now shows GTK, Python, and PyGTK
versions. The option to copy was added to some of the popup menus. The
progress bar for share scanning now vanishes properly. An attempted fix
was made for "interrupted system call" crashing the network loop. Username
hotspots for offline/left users aren't disabled. Directory cropping was
fixed in "upload directory to" in User Browse. Remote-uploading was
improved somewhat, as it was quite buggy with two Nicotine+ clients. Bugs
in transfer slots and popups were fixed. Spanish, French, Dutch, Italian,

About: NoMachine NX is a fast terminal server system based on the X11
protocol. In addition, NX also translates and embeds the MS Windows
Terminal Server and VNC protocols into X/NX. NX is an order of magnitude
faster than VNC or X11 and can run on bandwidth as narrow as 10 kBit/sec.
By embedding RDP and RFB, it enables users to compress and accelerate
remote Windows and VNC sessions. NX lets you work fluently even across
slow links like modems. The NX project provides a suite of libraries and
X11 proxying agents implementing efficient compression and optimized
transport of X11, SMB, IPP, HTTP, and arbitrary protocols like audio over
the Internet.

Changes: The new NX Client packages provide fixes for a number of
problems, including one where the client was unable to start the CUPS
daemon under Ubuntu 6.10. Issues where printing to a CUPS printer not
connected directly to the client could fail, the NX Client would fail to
start on old Linux distributions, and where text may be shown with wrong
colors when sub-pixel hinting was used inside a NX session were also
fixed.

About: PhpPeanuts is a framework for model-driven development (MDD) in PHP
4 and 5. With MDD, you do not build an application from the bottom up.
Instead, you get one generated from an initial design (the model), which
you extend and refine step by step until it meets your demands. Unlike
model-driven architecture (MDA), the design is not specified in a
complicated CASE tool with myriad diagrams. It's simply expressed in PHP
code. phpPeanuts features polymorphic persistency, navigational queries,
and high level user interface components for searching, sorting, dialogs,
and tabs. The Web site includes practical documentation and examples.

Changes: Many errors of the form E_NOTICE "Only variable references should
be returned by reference" (in PHP 4.4 and 5.1 and up) were fixed. The new
"NOT LIKE" comparator was added to SqlFilters. An advanced search was
added.

time. SMTP is used for sending the newsletter to your subscribers to make
sure you get all error and bounce messages. Bounces can be handled
automagically via a small bounce-management module with POP3 access. It
also has a small form-editor and statistics. You can import and export
your addresses in CSV format.

Changes: Some small bugs were fixed, including a problem where the message
ID did not exist in POP3 connections. A link to the index.php start page
containing \n was fixed. SUBSCRIBE_URL is no longer missing from the
opt-in mail. Some other problems were fixed.

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: HTTP Servers
Multimedia :: Graphics :: Capture :: Digital Camera

About: VStar PhotoAlbum is a Web-based photo album designed for amateur
photographers with digital cameras and their own Web server or home page.
It alleviates the need to to spend much time creating Web pages to show
off photographs, and also allows visitors to download original
high-resolution images to print good quality pictures.

Changes: EXIF data reading has been implemented for JPEG and TIFF files.
The ability to show a description either above or below the picture has
been added. An option to choose either forward or reverse order for
folders and files in a list has been added. A folder description file
(folders.nfo) has been added that allows you to substitute folder names in
the main menu. An "Original" picture resolution option in client mode has
been added. A problem with "imageonly" mode (missing a function parameter)
has been fixed. A workaround has been created for a bug in the PHP 4.x
fwrite() function (not returning the correct number of written bytes).

[056] - V_Sim 3.3.0 (Stable)
  by Damien Caliste (http://freshmeat.net/users/dcaliste/)

Scientific/Engineering :: Physics
Scientific/Engineering :: Visualization

About: V_Sim visualizes atomic structures such as crystals, grain
boundaries, molecules, and so on It can work with files either in binary
format or in plain text format. The rendering is done in pseudo-3D with
colored spheres to represent the atoms. The user can interact through many
functions to choose the view, the size of the atoms, their color, the
background color, the type of fog, and more. Moreover, V_Sim allows you to
export the view as images in GIF, PS, and other formats.

Changes: This version includes two major enhancements. In the spin
rendering method, the modulus is now taken into account. This capability
enables you to draw displacement fields. Spin information can be changed
on the fly in the pick window. The input formats are no longer restricted
to private formats. With the help of OpenBabel library, a number of
important classical chemistry formats are now readable in V_Sim. This
release implements the new ETSF file format, both for crystallographic
data and for densities or potentials. This format is already available as
output in ABINIT 5.3.
