Security
System :: Monitoring
System :: Networking

About: aircrack-ng is a set of tools for auditing wireless networks. It's
an enhanced/reborn version of aircrack. It consists of airodump (an 802.11
packet capture program), aireplay (an 802.11 packet injection program),
aircrack (static WEP and WPA-PSK cracking), airdecap (decrypts WEP/WPA
capture files), and some tools to handle capture files (merge, convert,
etc.).

Changes: aireplay-ng, airodump-ng, and airtun-ng now work with FreeBSD
(FreeBSD-current is needed for aireplay-ng). Detection for other drivers
has been added to airmon-ng. The makefiles and some driver patches were
updated. This release compiles fine on Intel Macs (compilation on gcc 2.95
was also fixed). Airoscript was added. This release also contains a lot of
bugfixes and improvments for all programs in the suite.

Scientific/Engineering
Software Development :: Embedded Systems
System :: Hardware

About: amforth is an embedded Forth distribution for the the AVR Atmega
microcontroller. Once put into flash, it needs only a serial connection to
the host computer. New words are compiled directly into flash, thus
extending the dictionary immediately. It is ANS94 Forth oriented. It is
written in assembly language and Forth itself. The main development uses
Atmega8 and Atmega32 controllers; other Atmega controllers work with small
adjustments.

Changes: This release enhances the string handling with words like parse
and s". The controller can now be put into sleep modes and some bugs were
fixed.

Games/Entertainment
Games/Entertainment :: Real Time Strategy
Games/Entertainment :: Role-Playing

About: Babelize is a collection of localizations for Linux games. It
currently features a German translation for "Heroes of Might and Magic
III", as well as instructions for applying the localizations provided by
Loki for "Civilization: Call to Power". The goal of the project is to
provide localizations for as many native Linux games as possible, and to
provide a completely setup system with all the needed Wine binaries to
play Windows games without any manual configuration.

Changes: autoconf and automake are now used instead of the loki installer.
All the language packs were ported from the loki installer to autoconf and
automake. A French Alpha Centauri - Alien Crossfire localization was
added. Full command line support was added. Now babelize also uses MD5
sums to check the file integrity before patching, and every localization
can be applied over other applied localizations.

Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: CD Audio :: CD Ripping
Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: CD Audio :: CD Writing
System :: Archiving

About: cdrtools (formerly cdrecord) creates home-burned CDs/DVDs with a
CDR/CDRW/DVD recorder. It works as a burn engine for several applications.
It supports CD/DVD recorders from many different vendors; all SCSI-3/mmc-
and ATAPI/mmc-compliant drives should also work. Supported features
include IDE/ATAPI, parallel port, and SCSI drives, audio CDs, data CDs,
and mixed CDs, full multi-session support, CDRWs (rewritable), DVD-R/-RW,
DVD+R/+RW, TAO, DAO, RAW, and human-readable error messages. cdrtools
includes remote SCSI support and can access local or remote CD/DVD
writers.

Changes: A typo in paranoia_init() that could cause a core dump with
cdda2wav was fixed. A bug was fixed in libfind that could cause endless
recursion on systems without user "nobody". An attempted workaround was
made for a Pioneer firmware bug that may cause DVDs to be written at the
lowest speed. Silent SCSI mode is switched off after a SCSI target
autodetect (no dev= parameter) has been done. A former timezone bug in
mkisofs has been fixed.

compiler toolchain. It will cross-compile ANSI C, K&R C, Pascal, Modula-2,
Occam, Fortran and Basic for a number of architectures including, but not
limited to, the 6500, 68000, Z80, i80, i86, i386, and PDP-11. It provides
a complete development environment including preprocessors, compilers,
assemblers, linkers, librarian tools, and target download tools.

Changes: Limited support was added for Linux i386 executables. The syscall
interface was greatly simplified by disabling libmon and instead calling
the syscalls directly. The K&R C compiler and libc were disabled because
they don't actually provide any advantage and they have a high maintenance
load. The rest of the system was adapted to build with the ANSI C compiler.
The pc86 syscall interface was rewritten. Lots and lots of bugfixes and
tweaks were made everywhere.

[065] - Zero Install Injector 0.27
  by Thomas Leonard (http://freshmeat.net/users/tal197/)
  Wed, Apr 25th 2007 14:44

Internet
System :: Archiving :: Packaging
System :: Software Distribution

About: The Zero Install Injector makes it possible for users to install
software easily and without the need for root privileges. It takes the URL
of a program's interface description and chooses suitable versions of the
program and all of its dependencies (also identified by URLs) according to
the user's policy settings (eg. "stable", "testing", "minimal network use",
etc). The chosen versions are downloaded and cached and the program is run,
using environment variables to let it find the components.

Changes: A utility for adding Zero Install launchers to the GNOME and KDE
menus was added. GPG keys can now be trusted for individual domains,
rather than globally. The interface between the launcher and the installer
GUI has been changed to allow running the installer with higher privileges
than the program being run. Support for tracing and debugging programs run
through Zero Install has been improved.
