[001] - Appomattox 0.2
  by Scott Ellington (http://freshmeat.net/users/scottell/)
  Sun, Jun 10th 2007 03:53

Scientific/Engineering :: Geographical
Software Development :: Widget Sets

About: Appomattox is a project to build a set of cross-platform mapping
objects for the .NET framework. It is also a desktop GIS application. It
currently supports the following data sources: shapefiles, raster data
(JPEG, GIF, TIFF, bitmap, and PNG), and PostGIS. The goal of Appomattox is
to provide an elegant and intuitive user interface for mapping and
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) without sacrificing power and
functionality.

Changes: Fixes were made to allow the program to run with the latest
versions of Mono and Gtk#. Improvements were made to map rendering
performance and design. Back and forward buttons were added. Pretty new
tool icons were added.

[002] - Auto Project Planner 1.1.0
  by don.didi (http://freshmeat.net/users/dondidi/)
  Sun, Jun 10th 2007 04:41

Office/Business
Office/Business :: CRM
Office/Business :: Scheduling

About: Auto Project Planner automatically calculates a proper project plan
based on your effort estimations and the due dates you have in mind. A list
of tasks and a list of employees can be defined. Tasks can be assigned to
one or more employees. It is also possible to define a maximum percentage
value an employee can/should work on a task. Public holidays, leaves,
weekly working hours, and more parameters can be specified and are
considered in the calculation. According to this input, the software
computes time plans by minimizing the MSE (mean squared error) between
expected and computed end dates.

Changes: This version provides a hierarchical tree view which should give
a clearer picture of your projects and tasks. Examples have been adapted
to that tree view. When exiting, opening, or creating a project, the
software asks to save if changes were made. Bugs in version 1.0 have been
fixed.

[003] - Boost.Join 2
  by Yigong Liu (http://freshmeat.net/users/yigongliu/)
  Sun, Jun 10th 2007 22:05

Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks

About: Boost.Join is an asynchronous, message based C++ concurrency
library based on join calculus. It is applicable both to multi-threaded
applications and to the orchestration of asynchronous, event-based
applications. It follows Comega's design and implementation and builds
with Boost facilities. It provides a high level concurrency API with
asynchronous methods, synchronous methods, and chords which are
"join-patterns" defining the synchronization, asynchrony, and concurrency.

Changes: The Framework is complete with the addition of chord_override and
chord_remove. The documentation was cleaned up. Two more tutorials were
added to explore the usage of Join. The first shows how to implement
thread safe event dispatching. The second shows how to implement data
parallel algorithms (parallel loop and map-reduce) in a way similar to
Intel's threading building block library, which is helpful to take full
advantage of multi-core machines.

Office/Business :: Financial :: Accounting

About: Buddi is a simple budgeting program targeted for users with little
or no financial background. It allows users to set up accounts and
categories, record transactions, check spending habits, etc.

Changes: This release fixes a bug on some Windows machines that would
prevent the graphs from being displayed properly.

[005] - CLIChart 0.5.3
  by John Dickson (http://freshmeat.net/users/captsens/)
  Sun, Jun 10th 2007 04:03

Multimedia :: Graphics
System :: Logging
System :: Monitoring

About: CLIChart is intended for quick summarization and visualization of
data, especially from system logs. It provides tools to extract and
manipulate tabular summary data from text files, and to generate and view
simple charts from tabular data on the command line. Charts can be
displayed in a window and/or saved.

Changes: This release is mostly a tidy-up, with small bugfixes and
improvements in handling errors. However, it also allows output from
"aggregate" to include simple expressions, adds the ability for
"cliserverlib" to locate "clichart" via the PATH (useful for Windows
users), and uses the Psyco JIT compiler to speed operation if it's
installed.

[006] - Cntlm 0.30
  by David Kubicek (http://freshmeat.net/users/mavey/)
  Sun, Jun 10th 2007 17:35

Internet :: WWW/HTTP
Security
System :: Networking

About: Cntlm is an authenticating HTTP proxy. It takes the address of your
proxies as a parameter and opens a listening socket, forwarding each
request to it (moving on in a circular list if the active parent proxy
stops working). Along the way, the forwarded connection is created anew
and authenticated or, if available, a previously cached connection is
reused to achieve higher efficiency and faster responses. When the chain
is set up, cntlm is to be used as the primary proxy in your applications.

Changes: Minor parsing fixes. The documentation has been completed. There
are new Makefile targets (deb, rpm, and tgz) and packaging HOWTOs.

[015] - fcron 3.0.3 (Stable)
  by Thibault Godouet (http://freshmeat.net/users/fcron/)
  Sun, Jun 10th 2007 12:24

System

About: Fcron is a periodical command scheduler which aims at replacing
vixie cron, so it implements most of its functionality. It does not assume
that your system is running either all the time or regularly: you can, for
instance, tell fcron to execute tasks every x hours y minutes of system
uptime or to do a job only once in a specified interval of time. You can
also set a nice value to a job, run it depending on the system load
average, and much more.

Changes: Since 3.0.2, the build and install processes have changed
significantly to make them more standard and make fcron easier to package,
and AIX and Solaris platforms are supported better. Some other minor
changes give better compatibility with Vixie cron. Please bear in mind
that the default install paths have changed since 3.0.3-rc1 to make them
more standard.

[016] - Freejtv Ajax Slideshow Template (Jukebox) 1.15
  by stevpan (http://freshmeat.net/users/new1999/)
  Sun, Jun 10th 2007 12:28

Multimedia :: Graphics :: Presentation

About: FreeJTV Ajax Slideshow Template is a cross-browser/platform Web
template page for slideshows and Web albums/galleries or jukeboxes. It
supports more than 30 DirectX transitions in the IE browser and fade
in/out effects in Firefox. Other features include full screen mode,
background music, and pause/resume. Configuration is easy, and does not
require changing the code. After thumbnailing and tailoring your photos,
you can edit a standalone jtv.xml configuration file.

Changes: The playing of background music is improved in IE. Easy (XML)
configuration has been added. Memory consumption is greatly reduced. Messy
code has been removed. A pause/resume function has been added. This release
is built upon the JKL AJAX XML parser. The layout of the Javascript
slideshow is improved. There is better full screen support for the
Javascript slideshow. Support for large screen sizes has been added
(1600x1200, 1280x1024, 1024x768, 800x600, and 640x480). A random hanging
bug in the filemagic assistant has been fixed.

  by Michael Rash (http://freshmeat.net/users/michaelrash/)
  Sun, Jun 10th 2007 19:00

Security
System :: Monitoring
System :: Networking :: Firewalls

About: fwknop implements an authorization scheme that requires only a
single encrypted packet to communicate various pieces of information,
including desired access through a Netfilter policy and/or specific
commands to execute on the target system. The main application of this
program is to protect services such as SSH with an additional layer of
security in order to make the exploitation of vulnerabilities much more
difficult. The authorization server works by passively monitoring
authorization packets via libpcap.

Changes: A bugfix to ensure that the "keep-state" directive is added to
firewall rules on systems running the ipfw firewall. The --Save-packet and
--Save-packet-file command line arguments have been added to the fwknop
client. These options instruct fwknop to save a copy of an encrypted SPA
packet before it is sent across the network. A bugfix to find the minimal
unused ipfw rule number for ipfw firewalls. This fixes an issue where ipfw
rules added by fwknopd could be inserted at the same position as rules from
an existing ipfw policy.

  Sun, Jun 10th 2007 12:52

System :: Boot :: Init

About: Gujin is a PC boot loader which can analyze your filesystems. It
finds the Linux kernel images available, as well as other bootable
partitions (for *BSD, MS-DOS, Windows, etc.), and displays a graphical
menu for selecting which system to boot. Because it understands the
structure of Linux kernel images, Gujin does not need LILO and can even
load ELF kernels. There is no need to execute anything after making a new
kernel: just copy the kernel image file into the "/boot" directory. Gujin
is written almost entirely in C with GCC, and it fully executes in real
mode to be as compatible as possible.

Changes: Correct behaviour following the latest Linux evolutions, bugfixes
for tiny.exe related to BIOS data gathering for *.kgz kernels, disk size
adjustment for SATA/SCSI/USB hard disks is done like ATA disks, and an
initial attempt to automatically relocate the kernel when "ld" has the
"--emit-reloc" flag and the kernel is moved by the "loadadr=" parameter.

[025] - htb-gen 0.9b-1 (Development)
  by Luciano Ruete (http://freshmeat.net/users/lucianoruete/)
  Sun, Jun 10th 2007 21:56

System :: Networking

About: htb-gen is an easy, scalable bandwidth management tool. You can set
up/down portions of bandwidth for each host or network that goes through
your router/firewall. Priority traffic (Web, email, gaming, FTP, VOIP, and
streaming) is preferred over junk traffic (Kazaa, emule, etc). Dynamic
bandwidth borrowing and reassignment is done between hosts thanks to htb
boundaries. A Web frontend for config is available, so remote management
is possible. It is bash-based, so it can be used in embedded
routers/firewalls (wired/wireless). Two backends are available: one that
generates raw tc commands, and one that generates htb-init conf files
(util for integration). The packet classification is done by iptables.

Changes: Multiple network interfaces are supported, so you can now have
multiple LANs and multiple ISPs. Per-host P2P percent of rate assignation
is supported. tc batch mode is supported, so now both iptables and tc are
batched. For each client, you can define prio_tcp_ports, prio_udp_ports,
prio_protos, and prio_helpers (netfilter helpers). A half-coded PHP-based
Web front-end was built with PEAR Quick Form.

[056] - Video Contact Sheet *NIX 1.0.9a
  by outlyer (http://freshmeat.net/users/outly3r/)
  Sun, Jun 10th 2007 17:34

Multimedia :: Graphics :: Graphics Conversion
Multimedia :: Video :: Conversion

About: Video Contact Sheet *NIX (vcs for short) is a script that creates a
contact sheet (preview) from videos by taking still captures distributed
over the length of the video. The output image contains useful information
on the video such as codecs, file size, screen size, frame rate, and
length. It requires mplayer, ImageMagick (convert and montage), bc, and
ffmpeg.

Changes: Extended mode was broken in the last version. A regression
introduced in 1.0.8a has been fixed: unsetting numcols broke extended mode
captures. The computed number of columns is used for extended mode (instead
of the global one).
