[001] - Achievo ATK 6.0
by Ivo Jansch (http://freshmeat.net/users/ivoibs/)
Wed, Jun 13th 2007 11:16
Database :: API
Database :: Front-Ends
Information Management
About: Achievo ATK is an object oriented Web-application framework. It is
targeted at developers who wish to focus on business logic instead of
coding HTML. Where other application frameworks mainly provide a large set
of utility classes, ATK provides a complete framework that requires only
small amounts of code to get usable applications, while maintaining full
flexibility. In other words, even 10 lines of code get you a working
application, but everything that is generated for you can be completely
customized.
Changes: AJAX and JSON functionality were added. Transparent MySQL
replication support and Oracle Savepoints support were added. Fixture
support was added. The GUI has been improved significantly. CAPTCHA
functionality was added. A generic class overloading mechanism was added.
Over 400 other enhancements and fixes were made.

[002] - AJAX Image Dump System 0.9
by vidarlo (http://freshmeat.net/users/vidarlo/)
Wed, Jun 13th 2007 06:57
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
About: AIDS (AJAX Image Dump System) is a simple, yet powerful AJAX-based
image host system. It's geared toward forum usage, and it generates
bb-code for cutting and pasting into forums that support bb-code. It lets
people create user accounts to keep track of their pictures, reaccess them
later to view stats, delete them, or simply copy the bb-code again.
Changes: This release has been modified to use free AJAX functions. Some
new features were implemented. A lot of code was commented.

About: Argus is a system and network monitoring application. It will
monitor nearly anything you ask it to monitor (TCP + UDP applications, IP
connectivity, SNMP OIDS, etc). It presents a clean, easy-to-view Web
interface. It can send alerts numerous ways (such as via pager) and can
automatically escalate if someone falls asleep.
Changes: This release offers improved performance and scalability, adds
support for additional tests, and adds support for failover and
redundancy.

[004] - Asymptote 1.30
by John Bowman (http://freshmeat.net/users/jcbowman/)
Wed, Jun 13th 2007 04:50
Education
Multimedia :: Graphics :: Editors :: Vector-Based
Scientific/Engineering
About: Asymptote is a powerful descriptive vector graphics language for
technical drawing, inspired by MetaPost but with an improved C++-like
syntax. It provides for figures the same high-quality level of typesetting
that LaTeX does for scientific text. Asymptote is a programming language as
opposed to just a graphics program. It can exploit the best features of
script (command-driven) and graphical user interface (GUI) methods.
High-level graphics commands are implemented in the language itself,
allowing them to be easily tailored to specific applications.
Changes: Constructors were implemented. Routines to allow access to guide
components were added. The three-dimensional projection and contour
routines were optimized. A tickmodifier NoZero and ticklabel format
NoZeroFormat were added. A linewidth bug was fixed. The array insert and
delete routines were generalized. The new array virtual member
"initialized" can be used to detect whether an element is initialized. All
fonts are now automatically embedded in PDF files. Inline PDF animations
require version 2007/05/24 or later of the animate.sty package. Many fixes
were made to the Emacs asy-mode.el.

[005] - auth2db 0.2.0
by Ezequiel Vera (http://freshmeat.net/users/zdark/)
Wed, Jun 13th 2007 16:55
About: auth2db parses auth.log files and inserts details about logins into
a MySQL database. It allows you to display in the shell or in a Web
front-end the date and time, IP, username, and service (ssh, smb, login,
su, gdm, etc.) for each login.
Changes: A graphics report has been added to the front-end (php gd is
needed). Advanced and Simple views have been added to the front-end. There
are new options to configure the filters in the front-end. An auth2db -v
option for program details has been added. There is a fix for
filters.conf. There is a fix for updateip functions (sshd and smbd
sessions).

[006] - bibEC Process Card 1.3.1.2
by Fabrizio Parrella (http://freshmeat.net/users/dnfnva/)
Wed, Jun 13th 2007 11:11
Software Development :: Libraries :: PHP Classes
About: bibEC Process Card is a class that processes credit card payments
via one of the multiple supported payment gateways. Currently, these
include Plug and Pay, Authorize.net, ViaKlix, Paynet, and other minor
gateways. Changing between payment gateways is mostly a matter of changing
the class constructor parameter. It provides a payment gateway independent
API with functions for logging the payment activity, setting
authentication credentials, submitting requests, and retrieving the
results. Submissions are performed securely when possible using SSL or
Curl.
Changes: This release changes a few default settings for ViaKlix and fixes
a problem with the expiration date.

[007] - Burr Tools 0.3.0
by Andreas Röver (http://freshmeat.net/users/roever/)
Wed, Jun 13th 2007 10:30
Games/Entertainment :: Puzzle Games
Scientific/Engineering :: Mathematics
About: Burr Tools is a set of programs for solving some kinds of puzzles,
namely puzzles that are made out of square, cube-shaped, spherical, or
triangular units, and whose solution also contains only pieces aligned
along those grids. The program finds assemblies for the puzzle and
animates how you have to assemble for some of them.
Changes: This release has a new assembly method that is much faster for
puzzles with many identical pieces, and that allows the specification of
ranges of pieces instead of only fixed numbers. The image export has been
improved. It now uses more of the available space.

Wed, Jun 13th 2007 10:37
Communications :: Fax
Communications :: Internet Phone
Communications :: Telephony
About: Callweaver is a community driven software PBX project. The most
important differences between Callweaver and Asterisk are built-in STUN
support, the use of SpanDSP for better codecs and full T.38 fax over IP
support, Sqlite instead of Berkeley DB, universal jitterbuffer, POSIX
timers to avoid Zaptel timing dependencies, greater speed, more efficient
dialplan execution, and greater stability.
Changes: This is hopefully the last release candidate before the 1.2
release. There are many bugfixes and improvements.

About: dterm is a simple terminal emulator which doesn't actually emulate
any particular terminal. Mainly, it is designed for use with xterm and
friends, which already do a perfectly good emulation. Therefore, it
doesn't need any special help; dterm simply provides a means by which
keystrokes are forwarded to the serial line, and data forwarded from the
serial line appears on the terminal.

by Charles Samuels (http://freshmeat.net/users/njordfet/)
Wed, Jun 13th 2007 00:31
Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks
Software Development :: User Interfaces
Software Development :: Widget Sets
About: Faith is a cross-platform C++ graphical application toolkit. It
runs natively on Linux/Unix (Xlib) and Windows. It has an API strongly
inspired by Qt's and has many features that are expected from a modern
toolkit, including a variety of common "widgets", an aesthetically
pleasing appearance, and the many critical non-portable components such as
anti-aliasing and sockets.
Changes: This release fixes numerous behavior flaws and cleans up code
throughout. Most of the changes are in the event loop; events from sockets
and timers are cleaned up, and the Linux event loop handler uses the poll()
system call. Also, the socket class's behavior is much more similar between
Linux and Win32.

[017] - GOAT 1.2
by Yves Rutschle (http://freshmeat.net/users/yrutschle/)
Wed, Jun 13th 2007 11:12
About: Goat is a tournament organizer assistant. It is designed to help
run long tournaments that are primarily organized by email, such as
Toulouse's Permanent Go Tournament, where a round is played each month,
and it's up to the players to arrange their meeting time and place.
Experience has shown that players need reminders to play their games, give
results, etc. Goat helps to automate this management. After pairing the
players, the tournament admin will enter the pairings into Goat, and Goat
will take over all the remaining business.
Changes: This is a massive rewrite. Data is now stored in a smarter format
that allows you to save all rounds in one file. Data is no longer stored in
Ssf, but using Data::Dumper (experiments with XML proved to be unusable).
The code has been reorganised into modules. Helper programs have been
added to register a list of players from an address book, export the
status of games in HTML, and create new rounds from a Gotha pairing file.

[018] - Gochacha A0.3
by David Morgan-Brown (http://freshmeat.net/users/morgdx/)
Wed, Jun 13th 2007 19:25
Software Development :: Libraries
Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks
Software Development :: Libraries :: Java Libraries
About: Gochacha is a functional replacement for BeanUtils, allowing you to
manipulate beans using strings. Gochacha, however, is much simpler because
it takes advantage of Java 1.5 autoboxing. It also foregoes BeanUtils'
singleton 'registry' of transformers for a context-like approach where the
calling application manages state.
Changes: MethodCache was updated to use a reentrant read/write lock. The
field interceptor was fixed to actually check for circular dependencies. A
test was included to ensure that multiple setters for the same field are
handled cleanly. A performance test was added, revealing a 20% speed
increase over BeanUtils.

[019] - gvrpad 0.1
by Don Stokes (http://freshmeat.net/users/don_stokes/)
Wed, Jun 13th 2007 07:02
System :: Networking
About: This daemon makes GVRP announcements of all VLAN interfaces on a
FreeBSD system. GVRP is the GARP VLAN Registration Protocol, defined in
IEEE 802.1Q (VLANS). GARP is the Generic Attribute Registration Protocol,
defined in 802.1D (bridging). The protocol allows switches or trunked end
stations to announce to the network what VLANs should be forwarded to that
device. The effect is that VLANs only need to be configured on the member
ports; the protocol figures out which trunk ports are effectively also
members. The daemon just announces the VLANs statically configured on each
interface to that interface. It does not listen for inbound GVRP
announcements.

you cite from unit tests, you even get the guarantee that they still work
correctly. Finally, thanks to the excellent Java2Html library, the cited
snippets get automatic syntax highlighting.

[028] - libferris 1.1.107
by Ben Martin (http://freshmeat.net/users/monkeyiq/)
Wed, Jun 13th 2007 04:37
Software Development :: Libraries
System :: Filesystems
About: libferris is a virtual filesystem that exposes hierarchical data of
all kinds through a common C++ interface. Access to data is performed using
C++ IOStreams and Extended Attributes (EA) can be attached to each file or
directory to present metadata. Ferris uses a plugin API to read various
data sources and expose them as filesystems and to generate interesting
EA. Current implementations include native (kernel disk IO with fam), XML
(mount an XML file as a filesystem), DB4, xmldb, Evolution, Firefox,
Emacs, LDAP, HTTP, FTP, eet, sockets, RDF/XML, RDF/bdb, and mbox. EA
generators include image, audio, and animation decoders.
Changes: Mounting large postgresql tables is now substantially faster.
Postgresql mounts now support remove() for tuples. Updates were made for
rsync with ferrisfs. The eanames-to-index-regex whitelist was added to
improve performance when adding to metadata indexes.
idxmgr-explicit-eanames-to-index-k was added for significant performance
improvements for some filesystems. Postgresql metadata indexing was
updated. Special char escaping in EANameToSQLColumnName() was improved.
Initial optional support was added for using libgist (monkeyiq fork). Many
improvements were made to ferris-lattice-from-cfi.

About: OOWeb is a lightweight, embedded HTTP server for Java applications
that maps objects to URL directories, methods to pages, and
form/query-string arguments as method parameters. This allows for
unparalleled ease in creating, deploying, and testing Web applications.
Changes: This release was updated to JUnit 4.3. Some tidying and polishing
of JavaDoc, logging, etc. was undertaken. The server now ensures that user
exceptions result in HTTP 500 rather than HTTP 200 response codes. Caching
was implemented for the @Cacheable annotation. It provides a trivial memory

[048] - rsyslog 1.13.2 (Development)
by Rainer Gerhards (http://freshmeat.net/users/rgerhards/)
Wed, Jun 13th 2007 10:53
System :: Logging
About: Rsyslog is an enhanced multi-threaded syslogd. Among other
features, it offers support for reliable syslog over TCP and RFC 3195,
writing to MySQL databases, fully configurable output formats (including
great timestamps), the ability to filter on any part of the syslog
message, and on-the-wire message compression. It is designed as a drop-in
replacement for stock syslogd and thus is able to work with the same
configuration file syntax. Of course, some enhanced features require
changing the configuration file, but in general, this should be fairly
easy.
Changes: The main reason for this release is the addition of klogd, now
making the rsyslog package a full replacement for sysklogd. There are
other changes that facilitated the creation of a Red Hat RPM, as well as
one bugfix. Existing users do not need to update to this new release

object and all functions become available by pressing a key on the
keyboard. This is more efficient and requires less interaction than
selecting the object and choosing the function from a menu.
Changes: A completely revamped, fully themeable user interface, integrated
CD burning, an improved input event handler with many new options, LV2
plugin support (the successor of ladspa), ports to Windows and Mac OS X, a
reduced memory footprint for large projects, and much more.

[061] - TreeLine 1.1.9 (Development)
by Doug Bell (http://freshmeat.net/users/Doug101/)
Wed, Jun 13th 2007 05:20
Other/Nonlisted Topic
About: TreeLine is used to organize and store text data in a tree
structure. It is well suited to keeping track of many different types of
information. Each node of the tree can contain several defined fields,
forming a mini-database. The format of each node can be defined, and the
output can be shown on the screen, printed, or exported to HTML. The tree
structure is navigated and edited in the left pane of the window, while
various views of the child data are shown and editable in the right pane.
The data is stored in XML text files. TreeLine is based on the PyQt
library.
Changes: The documentation was extensively updated to match the current
features. There were also several minor updates and bugfixes.

Multimedia :: Graphics :: 3D Rendering
Multimedia :: Graphics :: Graphics Conversion
Multimedia :: Graphics :: Viewers
About: view3dscene is a viewer for VRML 1.0, VRML 2.0 (aka VRML 97), 3DS,
and MD3 files. It supports viewing the scene in the "Examine" mode and
walking in the virtual world with features such as collision detection and
gravity. Rendering is done using OpenGL. A built-in ray-tracer allows the
generation of images with more effects (like shadows and mirrors) and
conforming precisely to the VRML 97 lighting specification. The program
can also convert files from 3DS format to VRML 1.0 and pretty-print VRML
files.
Changes: The MD3 (Quake3 engine) model format is supported. Selection of a
triangle in the scene is possible. Removing a selected face or geometry
node from the scene is implemented. Recently opened files are added to the
menu. Ported to Mac OS X. Fixes for rendering under Radeon and Mesa.

Internet
Scientific/Engineering :: Visualization
Security
About: VisualRoute combines the tools traceroute, ping, reverse DNS, and
whois into a single graphical interface that analyzes Internet
connections, reporting quick and essential data points for finding
connectivity problems. An IP location database identifies the geographical
location of IP addresses and Web servers, showing the path of an Internet
connection on a global map. The domain registration and network provider
contact information are reported for each hop of a network route for quick
problem reporting. Several new advanced edition options include reverse
tracing to initiate a connection test from a remote desktop or data
center, port testing, Internet application testing, and TCP traceroutes.
Changes: This update adds JavaScript support for the Server NOC and Server
Pro editions.

[066] - wxRemind 0.9.0
by Dan Graham (http://freshmeat.net/users/dgraham/)
Wed, Jun 13th 2007 13:44
Information Management
Office/Business :: Scheduling
About: wxRemind is a wxPython-based front-end for Remind, a powerful
calendar and alarm application. Similar to the curses-based Wyrd, the
display features a calendar and daily event list suitable for visualizing
your schedule at a glance. Dates and associated events can be quickly
selected either with the mouse or cursor keys, and dates in the calendar
are color coded to reflect the total duration of scheduled events.
wxRemind integrates with an external editor of your choice to make editing
of reminder files more efficient, provides hotkeys to quickly access the
most common Remind options, and allows popup, sound, and/or spoken alarms.
Changes: This release adds busy/free time display to both wxremdata and to
wxremind via the daily (agenda) display. It adds optional support for
getting things done via the included program yeaGTD. It fixes a bug in
which running make_execs on the source files would erroneously create
wxremindrc and .wxremfloat files in the user's home directory.
