  by voldern (http://freshmeat.net/users/voldern/)
  Wed, Jun 20th 2007 07:47

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content

About: AIDS (AJAX Image Dump System) is a simple, yet powerful AJAX-based
image host system. It's geared toward forum usage, and it generates
bb-code for cutting and pasting into forums that support bb-code. It lets
people create user accounts to keep track of their pictures, reaccess them
later to view stats, delete them, or simply copy the bb-code again.

  Wed, Jun 20th 2007 07:42

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Site Management
Office/Business :: Groupware

About: AjaXplorer is an easy-to-install file explorer for remotely
managing files on a Web server. Its rich GUI makes it accessible to any
end-user. Its main features are common file actions (uploading,
downloading, moving, renaming, etc.), online file editing, image preview,
a bookmarks system, and more. It requires PHP to run and FTP access only
for installation.

Changes: The GUI was totally recreated. An InfoPanel and search engine
were added. MP3 files can be played online without downloading them.
Images can be viewed online as a diaporama inside a given folder. Multiple
file upload monitoring was improved. A start screen and load progress were
added. A Recycle Bin folder was added.

Text Processing :: Indexing

About: Apache Lucene is a high-performance, full-featured text search
engine library written entirely in Java. It is suitable for nearly any
application that requires full-text search, especially cross-platform.

Changes: Many new features, optimizations, and bugfixes have been added
since 2.1.0, including "point-in-time" searching over NFS, payloads,
function queries, and new APIs for pre-analyzed fields. This release
includes index format changes that are not readable by older versions. It
can both read and update older Lucene indexes. Adding to an index with an
older format will cause it to be converted to the newer format.

System :: Networking :: Monitoring

About: Cancerbero is a port scan engine based on nmap. It scans the hosts
of a defined network once every configured time interval and stores the
results in a MySQL database. It detects changes from last scan, generates
alerts with differences, and optionally sends the alert by mail to the
owner of the host. It provides a snapshot of the ports which a host has
open over time. A Web interface is provided for configuring the system and
data mining.

Changes: New and useful features were added. An alert system was added for
changes with optional mail notification to the owner. Plugins are supported
to extend alerts. A flexible owner system (for hosts, ranges, or sensors)
is used with individual alerts configuration. A new and easy
install/upgrade process was implemented. Complete control from the GUI is
possible. Lots of minor fixes and improvements were made.

  Wed, Jun 20th 2007 04:55

Software Development :: Documentation
Text Processing :: Filters
Text Processing :: Markup :: SGML

About: The DocBook Doclet creates DocBook XML from Java source
documentation or HTML files. It is helpful if you want to create reference
handbooks of your API. Normally it is used with the Javadoc tool but it can
also be used as a standalone application to convert HTML to DocBook.

About: inotail is a replacement for the 'tail' program found in the base
installation of every Linux/Unix system. It makes use of the inotify
infrastructure in recent versions of the Linux kernel to speed up tailing
files in the follow mode (the '-f' option). Standard tail polls the file
every second by default, while inotail listens to special events sent by
the kernel through the inotify API to determine whether a file needs to be
reread.

About: mkCDrec (Make CD-ROM Recovery) makes a bootable (El Torito)
disaster recovery image, including backups of the Linux system to one or
more CD-ROM(s) (multi-volume sets). Otherwise, the backups can be stored
on another disk, NFS/CIFS disk, or (remote) tape. After a disk crash or
system intrusion, the system can be booted from the CD-ROM and one can
restore the complete system as it was. It also features disk cloning,
which allows one to restore a disk to another disk (the destination disk
does not have to be of the same size, as it calculates the partition
layout itself). Currently, ext2, ext3, minix, MS-DOS, FAT, VFAT, Reiserfs,
XFS, and JFS filesystems are supported. It can restore disks in Software
RAID and LVM mode. It supports the One Button Disaster Recovery (OBDR)
mode, which simulates a bootable CD-ROM on tape.

System :: Networking :: Monitoring

About: Nagios (formerly Netsaint) is a daemon written in C that is
designed to monitor networked hosts and services. It has the ability to
notify contacts (via email, pager or other methods) when problems arise
and are resolved. Host and service checks are performed by external
"plugins", making it easy to write custom checks in your language of
choice. Several CGIs are included in order to allow you to view the

[047] - NTP 4.2.4p2 (Stable)
  by Steve Kostecke (http://freshmeat.net/users/kostecke/)
  Wed, Jun 20th 2007 14:20

About: The Network Time Protocol (NTP) is used to synchronize the time of
a computer client or server to another server or reference time source,
such as a radio or satellite receiver or modem. It provides client
accuracies typically within a millisecond on LANs and up to a few tens of
milliseconds on WANs relative to a primary server synchronized to
Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) via a Global Positioning Service (GPS)
receiver, for example.

Changes: This release fixes a multicast mode authentication problem, an
error in NTP packet handling on Windows that could lead to ntpd crashing,
and several other minor bugs. Handling of multicast interfaces and logging
configuration were improved. The required versions of autogen and libopts
were incremented. This is a recommended upgrade for Windows and multicast

Office/Business :: Groupware

About: Open Blue Lab is a modular ERP, built on a plugin architecture.
Each business domain (such as Groupware, Financial, HCM, PLM, or SCM) is
separated into subdomains which are implemented through plugins. This
architecture permits you to choose only the components that suit your
needs. Each plugin is certified Zero Code, configurable through a GUI, and
may be adapted through the UML models provided.

Changes: Many tools were created to manage a model simply. The first tool
added is for searching in a set of OBL files. If you search a particular
class or a package in a folder, you just select the folder and fill the
regular expression. The second tool is interesting because it permits the
user to generate HTML documentation from an REF file. The documentation
generated looks like the javadoc and contains all classes and all
packages. The user can now navigate simply in the global model and export
an OBL model.

Education
Games/Entertainment :: Simulation
Scientific/Engineering :: Astronomy

About: Planets is a fun, interactive program for many-body gravity
simulations. The emphasis is on play: it's easy to add in planets, zoom in
and out, change the physical constants, save and load configurations, etc.
It's designed to be easy enough for a kid to enjoy, but that hardly
precludes adults.

Changes: Traces were fixed so that they no longer fail with recent
versions of Tcl/Tk.

[054] - Pootle 1.0.1
  by Friedel Wolff (http://freshmeat.net/users/fwolff/)
  Wed, Jun 20th 2007 07:23

Software Development :: Localization

About: Pootle is a Web-based translation and translation management tool.
It provides a rich set of features for mangaging a translation project. It
integrates components of the Translate Toolkit to provide error checkers
for translation messages and the ability to download files in a number of
formats: PO, XLIFF, CSV. Pootle can also provide compiled PO files for
download. You can use it to assign work to translators in your team, and
you can define goals to help focus the efforts of your translation. Pootle
can run without a Web server or be proxied through your existing Apache
server.

Changes: A problem with pootle.prefs that caused problems at startup was
fixed. Each part of the graph is now ensured to show for a non-positive
value, even if it represents something less than 1%. Newlines and tabs are
escaped properly with the copy button. The suggested text (term or TM
entry) is inserted into the focused textarea if the user clicks on it. The
links section that sometimes disappeared on Internet Explorer was fixed.
The translations were updated.

About: Userfriendly SVN (USVN) is a Web-based interface to configure your
subversion repositories. This interface allows you to create new projects
without a command line client, and it requires priviliged access to the
server. USVN will take care of managing the list of users which are
authorized to check out source code. This allows you to delegate the
administration of your Subversion depots. USVN permits easy management of
access restriction on Subversion files.

Changes: The SQLite database is supported. The mysqli adapter is
supported, which solves a crash on Debian etch. 64-bit support was added.
Microsoft Windows is supported. Some possible configuration issues in
installation (regarding mod_dav_svn, mod_rewrite, safe_mode, etc.) are now
detected. Access rights are enabled on the root directory of subversion
repositories. When you create a user, you can create a group with the same
name. A user can be added into a group directly in the group's admin page.
The arrow works in completions. Zend Framework 1.0.0RC2 is used.

Office/Business :: Scheduling

About: yeaGTD is an acronym for "yaml encoded approach to getting things
done". It is a script which extracts information from simple text files,
one for each project, and then produces nicely formatted summary reports.
Flexible rules can be used to specify repeated projects. Context, project,
and date views are supported and output can be filtered in a variety of
ways. Output can optionally be printed or sent to standard output in
several formats. Commands are provided for marking tasks complete, opening
files for editing, and backing up project files.

Changes: This release adds a command to display a project file
"cheatsheet". A PDF version is included in the distribution. Create
project now takes a path and uses the root file name as the (temporary)
agenda title. If the path exists, the original file is opened for editing.
Otherwise, a new file is created and opened for editing. The logic for
deciding which date to use for display and for sorting has been improved.
