Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Site Management

About: Blitz templates is a fast template engine written in C and compiled
as a PHP module. It started as a php_templates replacement, but developed
into much more. It is based on extensible template controllers (custom
view classes in PHP) and weakly-active templates (simple logic in HTML).
Benchmarks show that it is one of the fastest template engines for PHP,
even though it's not trivial and makes Web application closer to the MVC2
architecture model. It was designed for big Internet projects with a lot
of complex presentation logic.

Changes: Naming conflicts were fixed. getStruct()/get_struct() methods
were added to extend php_templates compatibility. getStruct method is a
partial analog for the tmpl_structure function from the php_templates
extension. An example was included in sample/get_struct.php.

[011] - Geom 0.0.7
  by Canek Peláez Valdés (http://freshmeat.net/users/canek/)
  Sat, Jun 23rd 2007 18:43

Scientific/Engineering :: Mathematics

About: Geom is an interactive geometry program in the spirit of the
Geometer's Sketchpad or DrGeo. It uses CCC as a canvas, which in turn uses
Cairo, the new GTK+ drawing backend.

Changes: You can move any construct, not only points. You can select
several constructs and move them all at the same time. You can bring back
invisible points or show/hide all of them. A cache when moving the
constructs was implemented, which helps the performance of the program.
Now Geom doesn't redraw the canvas all the time; it only does it every
10,000 microseconds. The design was made cleaner, such that all the
classes from the library use private members. A fully functional g2p.py
script was added. Packages were added for Gentoo 2007.0, Ubuntu 7.04, and
Fedora 7.

[018] - monq.jfa 1.1.1
  by Harald Kirsch (http://freshmeat.net/users/pifpafpuf/)
  Sat, Jun 23rd 2007 19:20

Text Processing :: Filters
Text Processing :: General

About: monq.jfa is a class library for fast and flexible text filtering
with regular expressions. In contrast to java.util.regex, monq.jfa allows
a regular expression to be bound to an action that is automatically called
whenever a match is spotted in an input stream. In addition, it can combine
several ten thousand regex/action pairs into one machinery (called a
"deterministic finite automaton" or DFA) for fast parallel text filtering.
A general purpose TCP server and associated classes in monq.net allow the
bigger DFAs to be run as servers.

Changes: This is a bugfix release to correct improper unsynchronized reuse
of an object within monq.jfa.actions.Printf. The user visible symptom would
be garbled output.

library framework, and a Symbian version are available.

Changes: The file format has been updated (dct v2). Embedded images and
sounds are now supported in the dictionary compiler and the ptksdict
viewer.

[028] - SMS Server Tools 2.2.16
  by Stefan Frings (http://freshmeat.net/users/sfrings/)
  Sat, Jun 23rd 2007 19:16

Communications

About: The SMS Server Tools send and receive short messages through GSM
modems or mobile phones. The user can send short messages by simply
storing text files into a special spool directory. The program monitors
this directory and sends new files automatically. It also stores received
short messages into another directory as text files. The program can run
other external programs or scripts after events like reception of a new
message, successful sending, and when the program detects a problem. These
programs can inspect the related text files and perform automatic actions.

Changes: This release fixes a documentation bug regarding the [provider]
section in the configuration file. The program has been changed to support
both the [provider] and [providers] keywords as well as both [queue] and
[queues].

Communications
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: HTTP Servers
System :: Networking

About: SPServer is a C++ server framework library that implements the
Half-Sync/Half-Async pattern. It's based on libevent in order to utilize
the best I/O loop on any platform. It can simplify TCP server construction
and is a hybrid system between threaded and event-driven, exploits
exploiting advantages of both models. It exposes a threaded programming
style to programmers, while simultaneously using an event-driven style to
process network connections. An embedded HTTP server framework, sphttp, is
included. It is useful for adding Web-based administration or statistics to
any C++ program or as the server framework of XML-RPC or JSON-RPC.

Changes: A socket dispatcher that applies a half-async/half-sync thread
pool for server/client sockets was added.

About: This Tiny Vector and Matrix template library uses Meta Templates
and Expression Templates (ET) to evaluate results at compile time, thus
making it fast for low-end systems. Temporaries are avoided because of
this. The produced code is similar to hand-coded code, but the quality of
the code still depends on the compiler and its version. The dimensions for
vectors and matrices are static and bounded at compile time using template
arguments.

[032] - Vobcopy 1.0.2
  by robos (http://freshmeat.net/users/robos/)
  Sat, Jun 23rd 2007 19:30

Multimedia :: Video :: Capture
Multimedia :: Video :: Conversion
System :: Archiving :: Backup

About: Vobcopy copies DVD .vob files to hard disk (thanks to libdvdread),
decrypting them on the way (if libdvdcss is installed) and merges them
into 2 GB files (or larger) with the name extracted from the DVD. It
checks for enough free space on the destination drive and compares the
copied size to the size on DVD (in case something went wrong during the
copying). It can also mirror a whole DVD video part and copy single files.

Changes: A segfault in the log file writing routine was fixed. Small fixes
and experimental "step over the bad part" code were added.

[033] - wiki2xhtml 3.0
  by Granjow (http://freshmeat.net/users/Granjow/)
  Sat, Jun 23rd 2007 03:40

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content :: Wiki
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Site Management

About: wiki2xhtml can create complete Web pages and uses a clean XHTML
syntax. It can insert galleries, a menu, a footer, and nearly all elements
you know from the Wikipedia. The pages are formatted with CSS. All designs
can be adjusted by hand, and custom ones can be used as well. wiki2xhtml
generates the HTML pages from simple text files in the MediaWiki syntax.
You can also use own (X)HTML code or other script languages inside; there
are no restrictions. The GUI is composed of a Code Paste Window where you
can insert wiki code that will be generated live. A click into the result,
the XHTML code, copies it into the clipboard.

Changes: wiki2xhtml can now parse PHP files. New lines can be inserted
with "\\", as in dokuwiki. Designs have their own templates for images,
for more design possibilities. Images may have long descriptions which
only appear on the image page. Some designs have been changed slightly and
some minor things have been changed.

[034] - wxRemind 0.9.8
  by Dan Graham (http://freshmeat.net/users/dgraham/)

Information Management
Office/Business :: Scheduling

About: wxRemind is a wxPython-based front/back-end for Remind, a powerful
calendar and alarm application, and for yeaGTD, a text based application
for 'getting things done'. The display features a calendar and daily event
list suitable for visualizing your schedule at a glance, together with a
flexible display of your GTD todo list. Dates and associated events can be
quickly selected either with the mouse or cursor keys, and dates in the
calendar are color coded to reflect the total duration of scheduled
events. wxRemind integrates with an external editor of your choice to make
editing of reminder and GTD files more efficient, provides hotkeys to
quickly access the most commonly used options, and allows popup, sound,
and/or spoken alarms.

Changes: The alignment of "remaining days" and "action index" in yeaGTD
panel was fixed. The included version of yeaGTD was updated to 0.7.7.

[035] - xcalib 0.7
  by Stefan Döhla (http://freshmeat.net/users/unrzn0/)
  Sat, Jun 23rd 2007 19:18

Multimedia :: Graphics
Multimedia :: Video

About: xcalib loads the 'vcgt'-tag of ICC/ICM color profiles to the X-
server, in order to calibrate the user's display by tweaking the LUTs in
the video card. Users need a profile which contains the 'vcgt' tag to
achieve monitor calibration with the video card's LUTs. These profiles can
be created with most commercial profile creation programs. For testing
purposes, some profiles are added to the tarball.

Changes: This release improves security, brings new features, and includes
a major code cleanup.

[036] - yeaGTD 0.7.7
  by Dan Graham (http://freshmeat.net/users/dgraham/)
  Sat, Jun 23rd 2007 19:16

Information Management
Office/Business :: Scheduling

About: yeaGTD is an acronym for "yaml encoded approach to getting things
done". It is a script which extracts information from simple text files,
one for each project, and then produces nicely formatted summary reports.
Flexible rules can be used to specify repeated projects. Context, project,
and date views are supported and output can be filtered in a variety of
ways. Output can optionally be printed or sent to standard output in
several formats. Commands are provided for marking tasks complete, opening
files for editing, and backing up project files.

Changes: A tilde is now used instead of an ellipsis truncating titles.
Custom column widths for "agenda", "c", and "a" can now be set in
~/.yeagtdrc. A bug in which "c" was not truncated to c_width was fixed. A
bug in which actions from repeating projects that are completed before the
first due date were regarded as completions from a previous project and
thus not treated as complete was fixed. Alignment for remdays and action
index was changed from left to right. Comma delimited output was fixed to
wrap fields in double quotes per custom.
