About: Aigaion is a Web-based shared bibliography manager built on
PHP/MySQL. It is based on the BibTeX format, but has support for other
formats as well. Some of its key features are extensive support for
organizing a bibliography in a topic structure, personal and public
annotations on each publication, multi-user support, easy import/export,
and an intuitive user interface.
Changes: A remote SQL injection vulnerability issue was fixed.

manipulation. Besides conventional solving, getting from any pattern to
any goal pattern is supported. Arcus allows the user to bidirectionally
walk through the cube's history.
Changes: An annoying bug preventing the removal of an Instance has been
fixed. A new Russian translation has been added.

About: Bitswash is a cross platform Bittorrent client built on wxWidgets
and libtorrent. It supports multiple torrent downloading, automatic queue
management, protocol encryption, peer exchange, upnp, natpmp, lsd, and IP
and file filtering.
Changes: This release fixes a couple of bugs, including compilation under
ANSI wxWidgets library, a queue manager indexing overflow, and the
inability for upnp/natpmp to resolve a local IP address. Transparency was
added to the application menu and the systray icon is deleted when not in

About: Distributed Multiplatform Framework is a component-based
programming framework using XML (or currently a hardcoded variant) as the
repository. The samples are implemented either in console or wxWidgets.
This shows the independence of the GUI or UI.
Changes: The most important new feature is the ability to import UML
designs. To make a database application prototype, you now only need to
design some classes with attributes and build relations using an aggregate
from one class to another.

[011] - Generic PHP plugins and config system 0.85
by milky (http://freshmeat.net/users/milky/)
Sat, Jul 14th 2007 15:32
Software Development :: Libraries :: PHP Classes
About: Plugin meta descriptions can reside as human-friendly comment
blocks in .php scripts. Generic PHP Config reads them and faciliates
plugin and configuration setting management in a generic way. The example
admin UI can non-destructively (unlike PEAR::Config) modify "config.php"
scripts. This simplifies binding plugins and their settings to any PHP
application, and is faster and more straightforward than any INI, XML, or
SQL configuration scheme.
Changes: A few changes in libconfig now provide better plugin dependency
resolution. Default values for configuration settings are taken into
account better, and so variable assignments get added less often. The
plugin meta data reading now detects and converts the old WordPress plugin
description format.

About: gprof2dot.py is a Python script to convert the output from gprof
into a dot graph. It can correctly parse C++ template function names,
allows you to prune nodes and edges below a certain threshold, can parse
the special notation gprof uses for mutually recursive functions, uses
color efficiently to draw attention to hot-spots, and works on any
platform where GNU gprof, graphviz, and Python are available, i.e.
virtually anywhere.

by Andrey Kiselev (http://freshmeat.net/users/DronK/)
Sat, Jul 14th 2007 01:12
Software Development :: Libraries
About: libtiff provides support for the Tag Image File Format (TIFF), a
widely used format for storing image data. The latest version of the TIFF
specification is available on-line in several different formats, as are a
number of TIFF Technical Notes (TTN's). Included in this software
distribution is a library, libtiff, for reading and writing TIFF, a small
collection of tools for doing simple manipulations of TIFF images on UNIX
systems, and documentation on the library and tools. A small assortment of
TIFF-related software for UNIX that has been contributed by others is also
included. The library, along with associated tool programs, should handle
most of your needs for reading and writing TIFF images on 32- and 64-bit
machines.
Changes: This version included a totally new implementation of the Old
JPEG module. There is no longer any need to patch libjpeg, and many
previously unsupported Old JPEG files should be working now. Support for
the JBIG compression scheme (34661 code) was added. A tiffcrop utility
that does the same as tiffcp but also can crop, extract, rotate, and
mirror images was added. Many bugfixes were made in the library and tools.

by achillean (http://freshmeat.net/users/achillean/)
Sat, Jul 14th 2007 23:51
Database
System :: Filesystems
System :: Logging
About: loggerfs is a FUSE-based virtual file system that automatically
parses log files and sends that information to a defined database.
Existing log parsers usually run periodically and scan the entire file for
changes. loggerfs takes a different approach by providing a virtual file
system. Whenever data is appended to a virtual file by the logging daemon,
the information is directly stored in the database. There is no need to
poll the file and monitor for changes.
Changes: Most notably, support for storing log files in MySQL was added.
Two simple shell scripts were created: createlog and loggerfs-reload. The
former asks you a series of questions and then creates the correct XML in
the logs.xml configuration file. The latter script can be called to reload
the configuration files (schema.xml and logs.xml) while the file system is
mounted. Support for the Syslog format was improved, and the ability to
store PostgreSQL logs was added.

[024] - Métamorphose File -n- Folder Renamer 0.2.0 (Métamorphose 2)
by ianaré sévi (http://freshmeat.net/users/ianare/)
Sat, Jul 14th 2007 01:11
System :: Systems Administration
About: Métamorphose File -n- Folder Renamer is a mass file renaming
program that combines great flexibility with an intuitive interface. It
allows many different renaming operations in a single utility, well-suited
for those who need to rename large numbers of files and/or folders on a
regular basis. However, the ease of the interface ensures that a
first-time user will not find it too frustrating to use.
Changes: This version brings significant improvements. Renaming operations
can now be reordered and duplicated, allowing for much better control.
Settings are now be applied on a per-operation basis allowing for two
separate and different numbering sequences on each file, for example. The
interface has been cleaned up and splits controls across tabs for better
user-friendliness. Additionally, images may be previewed within the
interface, and items can be moved to any directory in the file system.
This branch is beta quality and not yet a replacement for the stable
version.

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Site Management
Multimedia :: Graphics :: Presentation
About: There are many photo-gallery programs available. Zoph is different,
as it concentrates on the management of large collection of photos instead
of just showing them on the Web. It can store a lot of information about
your photos, including the regular EXIF info, photographer, location,
title, description, rating, and the people in the photo. Photos can appear
in multiple albums and categories. Additional features include search,
slideshows, lightboxes, email, access privileges, and multiple languages.
Changes: An SQL injection error was fixed. The problem does not seem to be
exploitable. There is also a patch that can be used to apply this fix
instead of downloading the whole installation package. It should be
possible to use this patch on older versions of Zoph.
