[012] - Digmia Enterprise SSH 1.0x
  by Juraj Bednar (http://freshmeat.net/users/jooray/)
  Mon, Jul 16th 2007 15:25

Internet

About: DSSH was written as a direct replacement for the OpenSSH client. It
adds SSH over SSH tunneling capabilities (for example, to log in to a
network hidden by a firewall), scripting support (using Groovy), an
advanced agent (which allows storing of passwords) and "su -" interactive
logging for machines that have disabled direct root login. All of this was
done to enable automated scripting and logging to many machines based on a
few simple rules. It uses the Ganymed SSH library (slightly patched).

Changes: This release can be finally used in shell scripts (as it returns
the correct return value as expected from a mature SSH client). This
release has Mac OS X PPC support, reworked documentation, a commented
example, and several important options that control the amount of output.
It adds the ability to stay logged in after executing a command (which
always executes the command in interactive shell). There are several
bugfixes and improvements.

Database :: API
Database :: Database Engines/Servers
Internet

About: GeoServer connects your information to the Geospatial Web. With
GeoServer, you can publish and edit data using open standards. Your
information is made available in a large variety of formats as maps/images
or actual geospatial data. GeoServer's transactional capabilities offer
robust support for shared editing. It supports WFS-T and WMS open
protocols from the OGC to produce JPEG, PNG, SVG, KML/KMZ, GML, PDF,
Shapefiles, and more. It is built on the GeoTools2 Java GIS toolkit.

Changes: The biggest improvement is that the connection pool code has been
swapped out to be more Java EE compliant, allowing use of JNDI
configurations, and defaulting to DBCP. This gives much more control over
number of connections and revalidation of lost connections. This release
also has better logging options, giving users more options with levels and
where the output goes. Reprojection in WFS is working again. There are
integrated demos for Google Maps, Yahoo! Maps, and Virtual Earth.
dateTimes are working again. There are numerous small bugfixes.

[033] - Mumble 1.0.0
  by CybKnight (http://freshmeat.net/users/CybKnight/)
  Mon, Jul 16th 2007 08:57

Communications :: Chat
Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: Speech

About: Mumble is low-latency, high quality voice chat software primarily
intended for use while gaming. It should compile and run the client out of
the box on at least Ubuntu 6.06, and quite likely other distributions as
well.

Changes: A new binary protocol is used. The new protocol saves a tiny bit
of bandwidth and is also considerably more secure. A zero-copy UDP thread
is used for Murmur, which will help murmur scale beyond thousands of
users. Servers can now register in the global registry and be available to
any user through a server browser. External authentication allows you to
create DBus-based plugs between murmur and any external authentication
method. An example for phpBB3 is provided. Linux in-game GL overlay was
added. Custom user textures may be uploaded.

Software Development

About: NoMachine NX is a fast terminal server and desktop virtualization
system based on the X11 protocol. NX is an order of magnitude faster than
VNC or X11 and can run on bandwidth as narrow as 10 kBit/sec. In addition,
NX translates and embeds the MS Windows Terminal Server and VNC protocols
into X/NX, enabling users to compress and accelerate remote Windows and
VNC sessions. The NX project provides a suite of libraries and X11proxying
agents implementing efficient compression and optimized transport of X11,
SMB, IPP, HTTP, and arbitrary protocols like audio and video over the
Internet.

Changes: This package provides fixes for problems where graphics may be
badly displayed when using Internet Explorer 6 for Windows and a warning
message which said, "Cannot send session cache limiter - headers already
sent," and which could be issued when running the builder with PHP set to
report all errors and warnings.

System :: Emulators

About: plus4emu is a portable emulator of the Commodore Plus/4 computer.
It supports Windows and POSIX platforms (32 bit Windows, 32 and 64 bit
Linux, and Mac OS X have been tested). It implements accurate, high
quality hardware emulation, but the system requirements are higher than
that of most other emulators.

Changes: Many improvements in the TV emulation (enabling all effects
requires OpenGL 2.0 or newer and shader support). A tedmon-like monitor
has been added to the debugger; it supports all the commands, including
assemble, but there are also some improvements and additional features
(for example, a trace command for logging CPU instructions with address
and TED video position to a text file). The file I/O ROM module now also
includes a tape turbo. Tape playback and recording can be sent to the
sound output. The RAM startup pattern has been made configurable. There

  Mon, Jul 16th 2007 15:12

Internet
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: HTTP Servers
Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks

About: Restlet is a lightweight REST framework for Java. The project is
composed of two parts, the Restlet API (alternative to Servlet API) and a
reference implementation (Noelios Restlet Engine). It supports all REST
concepts (resource, representation, data, connector, components, etc.) and
is suitable for both client and server REST applications. The server
connectors provided are HTTP(S), AJP (via Mortbay's Jetty or an adapter
Servlet) and the client connectors are HTTP(S), File, JDBC, and SMTP(S).

Changes: This release clarifies several Javadocs sections. It fixes a
potential NPE in the DomRepresentation.write() method. The
ServletContextAdapter passed by the ServerServlet to the Restlet's
Application was not given to the constructor but via the setContext()
method. Unwanted exposing of the internal HTTP client and server
connector, introduced in version 1.0.2, has been removed. The entire
project has been cleaned up to support Eclipse 3.3.

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Site Management

About: This is a script for monitoring Web pages that reuses other
programs (w3m, diff, webdiff, etc.) to do most of the actual work. By
default, it works on an ASCII basis, i.e. with the output of text-based
Web browsers like w3m (or lynx, links etc.) as the output can easily be
post-processed. With the help of some friends (see the section below on
requirements), it can also work with HTML. E.g., if you have websec
installed, you can also use its webdiff program to show colored diffs.
