Desktop Environment :: K Desktop Environment (KDE) :: Themes KDE 3.x
About: Actualiza is a semi-automatic update program for apt-based systems.
With a simple GUI, this apt front-end lets you manage the programs /
components on your computer, and helps you to keep it updated by showing
the available updates by means of an applet. It features a powerful
progressive search engine, and a repository manager that allows you to add
or remove repositories easily.

[002] - Adanaxis 1.1.4
by Mushware (http://freshmeat.net/users/mushware/)
Tue, Jul 17th 2007 05:39
Games/Entertainment :: First Person Shooters
About: Adanaxis is an action game where the fundamentals of space itself
are changed by adding a fourth dimension to space. Initially, it's like
learning to play a 3D FPS for the first time, as the hand and eye have to
learn a whole new type of coordination. The gameplay involves rapidly
blowing things out of the sky, with the usual assortment of enemies,
allies, weapons, and power-ups, together with commercially sourced
graphics, audio, and voice acting.
Changes: This is the first feature-complete release. Many new features and
levels have been added.

by doga (http://freshmeat.net/users/armangild/)
Tue, Jul 17th 2007 10:35
Multimedia :: Sound/Audio
Multimedia :: Video
About: Armangil's podcatcher is a podcast client for the command line. It
provides several download strategies (new shows only, back-catalog
allowed, etc), offers cache management, supports BitTorrent, and generates
playlists for media player applications.
Changes: This release adds the --cachedir option for explicitly specifying
the content cache directory independently from the state directory
(specified using --dir), the --language option for selecting feeds by
language, the --horizon option that prevents the downloading of content
older than a given date, the --restrictednames option for using content
file names that are acceptable for restrictive filesystems such as VFAT,
and more robust handling of feeds that use the Media RSS module. A bug in
update checking has been fixed.

[004] - BioCluster 1.0 Beta
by Meni Livne (http://freshmeat.net/users/meni/)
Tue, Jul 17th 2007 04:10
Communications :: Telephony
Software Development :: Libraries :: Java Libraries
About: BioCluster is a peer-to-peer clustering platform for Asterisk, the
open source PBX, which allows Asterisk to be used as a full carrier-grade
telephony solution. It is meant to be installed on several machines
together with Asterisk, turning them into a VoIP cluster. While the
BioCluster peer-to-peer protocol was initially designed to cater to
Asterisk-based clustering solutions, the BioCluster framework is capable
of being extended to support various forms of normally unclustered devices
or software packages.

by David Kubicek (http://freshmeat.net/users/mavey/)
Tue, Jul 17th 2007 05:19
Internet :: WWW/HTTP
Security
System :: Networking
About: Cntlm is an authenticating HTTP proxy. It takes the address of your
proxies as a parameter and opens a listening socket, forwarding each
request to it (moving on in a circular list if the active parent proxy
stops working). Along the way, the forwarded connection is created anew
and authenticated or, if available, a previously cached connection is
reused to achieve higher efficiency and faster responses. When the chain
is set up, cntlm is to be used as the primary proxy in your applications.
Changes: Windows support and a simple installer were added. The program
automatically and temporarily switches to the NTLM-to-basic mode if the
configuration file credentials fail. The Debian directory was moved, and
packages are created the Debian way.

Database
Multimedia :: Graphics :: Viewers
Text Processing :: Markup :: XML
About: ComicMaster is a CBR/CBZ reader for comic archives. It is able to
open CBR and CBZ archives and display image contents. It allows you to add
and remove single images, reorder images, and rename images in archives. It
has some functionality to verify archives, and provides means to
conveniently sort archives in a different folder. Those features are
fairly well tested. It allows you to load a database plugin to manage
comics in a PostgreSQL database, and it allows you to add meta-information
in XML format to archives. The implementation of these features is
currently sketchy at best.
Changes: A "memo" feature for missing or corrupt archives has been added.
ComicMaster now provides an interface to manage missing or corrupt
archives conveniently in its internal database. A table presents gaps in
one's collection sorted according to publishers, titles, or problems.

Tue, Jul 17th 2007 03:14
System :: Hardware
About: cpuinfo consists of an API/library used by programs to get
information about the underlying CPU. Such information includes CPU
vendor, model name, cache hierarchy, and supported features (e.g. CMP,
SMT, and SIMD). cpuinfo is also a standalone program to demonstrate the
use of this API.
Changes: The library is now licensed under the terms of the LGPL. Perl
bindings were added. More processor features are now detected (SSE4, ABM,
POPCOUNT, etc.). A few more PowerPC processors are recognized. Minor
bugfixes were included for older x86 processors.

About: csvdiff is a simple script for comparing two files of
comma-separated values with each other. In contrast to standard diff, it
will show the number of the record where the difference occurs, the column
number, and (if provided) the fieldname which is different. The separator
can be set to any value you want, not just a comma. It also provides
support for multiple column keys, the ability to ignore case and trim
leading/tailing spaces, and the ability to ignore selected columns such as
timestamps.

About: DBAHelper is a collection of scripts to ease the daily maintenance
work of Oracle database administrators. Examples are moving objects
between tablespaces, analyzing schemata, and rebuilding invalid indices.
Also included is a little framework to simplify the use of RMAN (this
framework depends on the use of Oracle 10g with the Recovery Area enabled

Software Development :: Libraries :: PHP Classes
About: Large Database Backup is a class to back up large MySQL databases
into multiple files. It can list the tables of a given MySQL database, and
generate SQL statements to create and insert records with the current
values of the table rows, as if it were creating a new database. The class
stores the generated SQL statements in files. A full backup process can be
split into multiple iterations so as to not exceed the PHP default script
execution time limit. Each iteration dumps a limited number of table rows.
An iteration can be executed by a script that redirects the page request to
itself at the end to proceed to the next iteration.

[058] - rsyslog 1.17.0 (Development)
by Rainer Gerhards (http://freshmeat.net/users/rgerhards/)
Tue, Jul 17th 2007 10:31
System :: Logging
About: Rsyslog is an enhanced multi-threaded syslogd. Among other
features, it offers support for reliable syslog over TCP and RFC 3195,
writing to MySQL databases, fully configurable output formats (including
great timestamps), the ability to filter on any part of the syslog
message, and on-the-wire message compression. It is designed as a drop-in
replacement for stock syslogd and thus is able to work with the same
configuration file syntax. Of course, some enhanced features require
changing the configuration file, but in general, this should be fairly
easy.
Changes: Directories can now be automatically generated for dynamic file
names. Owner and group can be set for created files and directories.
Regular expressions are now supported in filters, and $AllowedSenders
fully supports IPv6 addresses as well as domain wildcards. Control
character replacement is now a user-configurable option (restoring full
backwards compatibility to sysklogd). There are a number of new config
file directives. This release is a recommended update for all users.

support for using third-party content adaptation software, image and link
prefetching, HTTP and FTP content caching, NTLM and Basic authentication,
and an intuitive Web interface for configuration.
Changes: New command-line options were added. "-t (MAXTHREADS)" allows you
to control the maximum number of concurrent threads that may be started
within any instance. "-z (STACKSIZE)" defines the thread_stacksize of each
of these stacks. Improved compatibility with NPTL has led to sacrificing of
compatibility for kernels older than 2.6. This practically eliminates

and filtering. The expression strings are intuitive SQL-like WHERE clauses,
and can contain arbitrarily complex arithmetic. At the same time, the parse
tree evaluation speed is guaranteed to be fast enough to safely iterate
over larger data sets. The framework uses the Boost.Spirit parser library
combined with a versatile custom scalar value class.

[066] - ulxmlrpcpp 1.6.0
by ewi (http://freshmeat.net/users/ewi/)
Tue, Jul 17th 2007 03:31
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: HTTP Servers
Software Development :: Object Brokering
About: ulxmlrpcpp is a library to perform calls via XML-RPC in an object
oriented approach. It is possible to create both client and server
applications in multithreaded environments. Unlike other implementations,
it does not insist on HTTP for transportation, but might also accept other
ways (e.g. a simple serial line with a user-defined protocol). For HTTP as
a transportation protocol, the following features are supported: cookies,
SSL/TLS, proxy, SSL/TLS over a proxy, and chunked transfers. ulxmlrpcpp is
also able to transmit data faster with binary XML.
Changes: This release introduces a pair of applications that read your C++
classes and generate a set of header and implementation files for client
and server code. Additionally there is limited support for Log4J/Log4Cxx
logging hosts. The library itself did not change except for minor tweaks
to support the new features.

[068] - WidgetServer 1.6.3
by Dirk von der Weiden (http://freshmeat.net/users/dvdw/)
Tue, Jul 17th 2007 10:54
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks
Software Development :: Libraries :: Java Libraries
About: WidgetServer is a Java/XML server-side GUI-framework which enables
an application to run as either a monolithic Swing app, a client/server
Swing app, or as a Web app without any change and without loss of
functionality. A rich widget set is supported that includes tree views,
tabbed panes, split panels, and much more. A unified widget-based,
object-oriented programming interface for Web and Swing GUIs is offered to
the developer to control and assemble the GUI. Web applications are fully
AJAX enabled. For Swing client/server applications, the framework handles
client/server communication, including compression and security layers. A
GUI builder is included.
Changes: RELEASE_SESSION_ON_BORWSER_EXIT is configurable in web.xml
now.The anchored-popup works in combination with Event Channels correctly
now. New register and unregister tags to register/unregister string values
during xml parsing have been added, and a new <include file="XXX"> tag for
WidgetServer parameter files has been implemented. Some bugs have been
fixed.

[069] - wingS 3.0
by Holger Engels (http://freshmeat.net/users/hengels/)
Tue, Jul 17th 2007 05:59
Software Development
About: wingS is a servlet development framework for Web applications. It
features Swing-like components and utilizes Swing models, Swing events,
and a very similar API. A special LayoutManager allows you to place
components using designer provided HTML templates. The HTML code
generation of the components themself supports PLAF (Pluggable Look and
Feel), so it is possible to create a different output, like plain HTML,
HTML+CSS, and WML.
Changes: This version introduces the concept of Transparent AJAX, which
unburdens the application developer from the complexity of asynchronous
replication of conversational state between client and server. The
utilization of AJAX is completely hidden behind the wingS API. Even custom
components written against the wingS 2 API immediately profit from the
incremental page update mechanism.
