Games/Entertainment :: Role-Playing

About: Adonthell is a role playing game in development that aims to
combine the best features of the Final Fantasy and Ultima series with an
epic plot. It is set in a detailed virtual world. With the current engine,
a small demo game (Waste's Edge) is available.

Changes: With version 0.4, Adonthell's engine has been completely
modularized. Each module has its interface exposed to Python and can be
used as a standalone Python module. On top of that, a first prototype of
the new mapengine has been implemented, which allows more freedom and
interaction with the game world.

Database
Multimedia :: Graphics :: Viewers
Text Processing :: Markup :: XML

About: ComicMaster is a CBR/CBZ reader for comic archives. It is able to
open CBR and CBZ archives and display image contents. It allows you to add
and remove single images, reorder images, and rename images in archives. It
has some functionality to verify archives, and provides means to
conveniently sort archives in a different folder. Those features are
fairly well tested. It allows you to load a database plugin to manage
comics in a PostgreSQL database, and it allows you to add meta-information
in XML format to archives. The implementation of these features is
currently sketchy at best.

Changes: This release fixes a bug which made ComicMaster unable to create
its own save directory. It can show optional JPEG fields like JPEG
comments. As a nice side effect, it shows images which are infected by the
"Ducky" trojan.

[012] - deco archive file extractor 0.3
  by P. Hartlich (http://freshmeat.net/users/phartlich/)
  Fri, Jul 27th 2007 14:08

System :: Archiving

About: deco is a generic archive file extractor that has a consistent
command line interface ("deco 1.tar.bz2 2.zip 3.flac 4.rar 5.deb" will
just work) and consistent behavior (it never deletes archives after
extraction, extracts relative to the current working directory, and
extracts just verbosely enough, all unless explicitly requested
otherwise). It provides automatic handling of extractor gotchas by
creating an extraction directory if there is more than one file or
directory at the archive top level and by being able to fix strange
permissions. 33 archive file extensions are supported out of the box, and
adding support for others requires very little work.

Changes: Support for archives composed of multiple archive files. A -k
option to keep partial contents if extraction fails. Anti-overwriting
fixes. Makefile portability has been improved.

Software Development :: Documentation

About: Doxygen is a cross-platform, JavaDoc-like documentation system for
C++, C, Objective-C, C#, Java, IDL, Python, and PHP. Doxygen can be used
to generate an on-line class browser (in HTML) and/or an off-line
reference manual (in LaTeX or RTF) from a set of source files. Doxygen can
also be configured to extract the code-structure from undocumented source
files. This includes dependency graphs, class diagrams and hyperlinked
source code. This type of information can be very useful to quickly find
your way in large source distributions.

Changes: Doxygen now supports aliases with arguments. Support for dynamic
sections in the HTML output has been added as well as other layout
improvements. Anonymous namespaces can now be extracted and C# support has
been improved. As always, a large number of bugs have been fixed.

About: A 'honeypot' is designed to detect server-side attacks. In
contrast, a 'honeyclient' is designed to detect client-side attacks.
Specifically, a honeyclient is a dedicated host that drives specially
instrumented applications to access remote servers to see if those servers

Office/Business
Office/Business :: Financial :: Accounting
Office/Business :: Groupware

About: Open Blue Lab is a modular ERP, built on a plugin architecture.
Each business domain (such as Groupware, Financial, HCM, PLM, or SCM) is
separated into subdomains which are implemented through plugins. This
architecture permits you to choose only the components that suit your
needs. Each plugin is certified Zero Code, configurable through a GUI, and
may be adapted through the UML models provided.

Changes: Attributes are now "private" instead of "public". All entities
(classes, attributes, and methods) are documented, in order to allow HTML
documentation generation.

[029] - pkgmake 0.1.3
  by Izzy (http://freshmeat.net/users/izzysoft/)
  Fri, Jul 27th 2007 01:51

Software Development
Software Development :: Build Tools

About: pkgmake automates some steps when making software releases. It
creates a copy of the development tree, optionally cleans it up a bit
(i.e. removes CVS/* and .svn/*), tars it, places the tarball in the
SOURCES/ directory, creates the corresponding .spec file from a provided
template (and the data specified in the configuration/on the command
line), and runs rpmbuild and/or debbuild.

Changes: Additional configuration options were added. The Makefile now has
an uninstall target. Some small fixes were made.

[030] - rsyslog 1.17.4 (Development)
  by Rainer Gerhards (http://freshmeat.net/users/rgerhards/)
  Fri, Jul 27th 2007 01:50

System :: Logging

About: Rsyslog is an enhanced multi-threaded syslogd. Among other
features, it offers support for reliable syslog over TCP and RFC 3195,
writing to MySQL databases, fully configurable output formats (including
great timestamps), the ability to filter on any part of the syslog
message, and on-the-wire message compression. It is designed as a drop-in
replacement for stock syslogd and thus is able to work with the same
configuration file syntax. Of course, some enhanced features require
changing the configuration file, but in general, this should be fairly
easy.

Changes: This release is part of the ongoing modularization effort. This
is now a much cleaner interface between the main syslogd and output
modules. The main purpose for this release is to allow as much early
testing as possible. This release also contains some bugfixes. The update
is only recommended to those interested in either testing or the fixes.

  by Andras Horvath (http://freshmeat.net/users/raas123/)
  Fri, Jul 27th 2007 06:17

System :: Logging

About: Rxlogd is a receive-only syslog server (collector) that can coexist
with sysklogd. It features simplicity, ease of use, and a built-in DNS
cache for high performance. The intended audience is users of enterprise
systems stuck with sysklogd, or administrators who don't need more complex
syslog server solutions.

Changes: Logrotate now uses a separate directory to store old logs, fixing
a bug.

[032] - Scala 2.6.0-RC1 (Scala 2)
  by Stephane Micheloud (http://freshmeat.net/users/s_micheloud/)
  Fri, Jul 27th 2007 11:46

Software Development :: Compilers

About: Scala is a modern multi-paradigm programming language designed to
express common programming patterns in a concise, elegant, and type-safe
way. It smoothly integrates features of object-oriented and functional
languages including mixins, algebraic datatypes with pattern matching,
genericity, and more. It is well integrated with Java and .NET: the Scala
compiler produces standard Java class files or .NET assemblies, and
Java/.NET libraries and frameworks can be used without glue code or
additional declarations.

Changes: This version introduces some language changes (existential types,
lazy values, structural types, etc.) and fixes many bugs.

[033] - Scheture 3.3.3
  by mikeStabie (http://freshmeat.net/users/mikeStabie/)
  Fri, Jul 27th 2007 11:43

Scientific/Engineering :: Electronic Design Automation (EDA)

About: Scheture is a hierarchical schematic capture system with built-in
netlisters for Spice and Verilog. It has built-in plotting for HP PCL and
HP GL/2 printers and plotters. It includes a set of symbol primitives, and
allows user-defined symbol primitives to allow for extensive customization
of primitive properties. The system supports wire buses and iterated
instances. The system also supports global pins and implicitly connected
pins on a specific sheet. Supported platforms include Solaris and Linux
(32- and 64-bit).

Changes: This release adds a number of minor improvements. These include a
new symbol popup menu to place standard and recently placed symbols
quickly. Also new are real arc/circle/ellipse shapes for more cosmetically
attractive symbols. Previously, these shapes were constructed from lines
and polygons. Wires can now be named with iterators such as "{N1,N2}(3)"
to compactly represent the name "N1,N2,N1,N2,N1,N2". More complex
iterators are supported as well. A number of new options have been added
to the "check & save" command to beautify the schematic during the "check
& save" process.

[034] - Simple Groupware 0.298
  by Thomas Bley (http://freshmeat.net/users/simplegroupware/)
  Fri, Jul 27th 2007 07:17

Communications
Information Management
Office/Business

About: Simple Groupware is a complete groupware package. Unlike other
groupwares, Simple Groupware contains a new programming language called
sgsML, which was created to quickly create powerful Web applications.

Changes: A WebDAV server has been added for listing folder contents and
edit files. New options have been implemented to require admin rights to
set mountpoints, archive deleted files, and use the mail() function
instead of SMTP. Usability has been improved with collapsing for assets
with many files and lookup buttons for non-overloaded select boxes. Debian
binaries have been included for document preview together with a pure PHP
implementation for the PHP/Java Bridge. Compatibility for IIS has been
added. Fixes have been applied to IMAP Unicode foldernames, deleting
assets, strtotime handling, and the DoS check.
