[003] - Apache Cayenne 3.0M1 (Development)
by Aristedes Maniatis (http://freshmeat.net/users/aristedes/)
Sat, Jul 28th 2007 17:13
Software Development
Software Development :: Libraries :: Java Libraries
About: Apache Cayenne is a persistence framework that provides
object-relational mapping (ORM) and remoting services. It has a wealth of
unique and powerful features and can address a wide range of persistence
needs. Cayenne seamlessly binds one or more database schemas directly to
Java objects, managing atomic commit and rollbacks, SQL generation, joins,
sequences, and more. With Cayenne's Remote Object Persistence, those Java
objects can even be persisted out to clients via Web Services. With native
XML serialization, objects can be even further persisted to non-Java
clients.
Changes: This is the first milestone release of Cayenne 3.0. The most
visible addition to Cayenne is a JSR-220 Java Persistence API Provider
(a.k.a. JPA), but significant enhancements have been made to performance
and flexibility. It is already in production within several products.

About: The Distributed Real-time Embedded Analysis Method (DREAM) is a
tool and method for the real-time verification and performance estimation
of distributed real-time embedded (DRE) systems. It focuses on the
practical application of formal verification and timing analysis to
real-time middleware.

checking performance, resulting in impressive performance gains of at least
2-3 times. There are no known memory leaks present in the current release.
Balanced AVL trees are now used, resulting in exponential speedups in
several steps of the model checking method. XML Schema validation was
implemented. Verification time reporting was upgraded to include data on
the simulation speeds. Random simulation-based testing now provides an
execution trace when a deadline is missed.

Software Development :: Libraries :: Java Libraries
About: MicroNova YUZU is an EL-based JSP tag library designed to augment
JSTL and transform JSP into a powerful XML-style "scripting language"

XML/JSON support, "codec" functions, structured param with file
upload/select/radio support, "subroutine" call returning non-string
Object, dynamic embedded EL pattern evaluation for regular text and SQL
queries, HTTP client and response control, an HTML-to-DOM parser,

follow a single behavioral pattern (prepare, import, default, process,
assign, export) for ease of learning and extension.
Changes: Support for constructor parameters was added to the "className"

by Ali Afshar (http://freshmeat.net/users/aafshar/)
Sat, Jul 28th 2007 16:17
About: Python Integrated Development Application (Pida) is an IDE based
around the idea of reusing existing tools, rather than attempting to write
a set of development tools of its own. It uses Vim as the editor, either
with its traditional user interface or with a user interface that
resembles more common text editors.

About: python-jabberbot is a Jabber bot framework for Python that makes it
easy to write simple Jabber bots. One can use these Jabber bots to provide
information about running systems, to make Web sites interact with
Jabber-enabled visitors, or notify the bot owner about updates or changes
that are monitored with custom Python scripts.
Changes: This version supports subclassing the JabberBot to provide
commands and automatic command description extraction from docstrings.
This release also implements a default "help" command in the bot that
lists user-implemented commands with their description. An example for
threaded usage is included.

[034] - sawfish 1.3.1
by Janek Kozicki (http://freshmeat.net/users/cosurgi/)
Sat, Jul 28th 2007 00:05
Desktop Environment :: Window Managers
About: Sawfish (the window manager formerly known as Sawmill) is an
extensible window manager using a Lisp-based extension language. All
window decorations are configurable and all user-interface policy is
controlled through the language. Its aim is to manage windows in the most
flexible and attractive manner possible. As such it does not implement
desktop backgrounds, application docks, or other things that may be
achieved through separate applications. Sawfish is mostly GNOME-compliant;
almost all configuration may be made through a graphical interface.
Changes: The project has been revived. Documentation was updated and a
tool for automatic screenshot generation was added along with detection of
the Xrandr extension.

[035] - SecureJSH 1.0b0726
by Compl Yue Still (http://freshmeat.net/users/complystill/)
Sat, Jul 28th 2007 00:08
Security
About: SecureJSH makes it possible for server-side Java applications to
provide secure shell access to their administrators, users, developers,
and service clients. It implements the RFC-4251 SSH 2.0 protocol with
support for public key authentication. It leverages the JSR-199 Java
compiler API to dynamically compile interactive Java statements, allowing
you to copy and paste code between a SecureJSH terminal and your Java
project source.
Changes: The Java completion algorithm was refined and is more accurate
and to the point. Rarely used methods like Object.wait() and
Object.notify() are filtered out. Completion for built-in command options
was added - press Tab to complete a command, then Tab again to prompt for
common options. This works fine with dynamic options (like 'unimport
java.awt.*' can be entered by uni-[Tab]-j-[Tab], when such an import is in
the list). The field definition command now takes a type name before a
field name, to match the Java variable definition style.

Scientific/Engineering :: Artificial Intelligence
About: Soothsayer is an intelligent predictive text entry platform.
Soothsayer exploits redundant information embedded in natural languages to
generate predictions. Soothsayer's modular and pluggable architecture
allows its language model to be extended and customized to utilize
statistical, syntactic, and semantic information sources.
Changes: This version adds initial support for simultaneous use of
multiple predictive plugins. Combination of multiple predictions is
carried out according to a merit-based policy. This release also includes
bugfixes, memory leak fixes, and improvements to the demo programs (visual
context change cues). New configuration variables were added to control
runtime predictive behavior. Configuration handling has been refactored.
This is a developer's preview release and a source release only. No

[041] - tinyHeb 0.14.0
by Thomas Baum (http://freshmeat.net/users/thomas_baum/)
Sat, Jul 28th 2007 00:11
Office/Business
About: tinyHeb is a Web application for midwives in Germany to do the
legal accounting with the health insurance companies. tinyHeb can produce
paper and electronic bills, and meets the legal requirements of §301a,
§302 SGB V, resp. tinyHeb is already certified by AOK Rheinland, AOK
Bayern, and ARZ Emmendingen, which means that the midwife is allowed to
send electronic billings to all AOK and the most BKK's in Germany after a
very short testing (three bills). Paper bills can be sent for insurance
companies that are not supported.
Changes: This release adds a new chapter to the documentation on how to
generate a certificate request. A bug pertaining to the sending of a
certificate request via email was fixed. A -c option was added to the
key.pl tool for extracting the midwife's certificate. Processing of health
insurance company static data was improved.
