[002] - Bacula 2.2.0
by Lev_Arris (http://freshmeat.net/users/LevArris/)
Sat, Aug 11th 2007 15:53
System :: Archiving :: Backup
About: Bacula is a set of programs that allow you to manage the backup,
recovery, and verification of computer data across a network of different
computers. It is based on a client/server architecture and is efficient
and relatively easy to use, while offering many advanced storage
management features that make it easy to find and recover lost or damaged
files.
Changes: A new Bacula Administration Tool (bat, based on Qt4) was addeed.
Insertion of attributes into the SQL database during backups is up to 10
times faster. Loading of the memory tree during restores is up to 500
times faster. The volume reservation code was improved to better handle
multiple drive autochangers. Other new features are the Recycle Pool,
detection of changes to files during backups (if enabled), more efficient
pruning of volumes, and the license change to unmodified GPL v2.

[003] - BMP 0.40.1
by Milosz Derezynski (http://freshmeat.net/users/queuerunner/)
Sat, Aug 11th 2007 17:22
Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: Players
About: BMP is a media player which provides a very easy-to-use interface
and usage semantics for all tasks, while having extensive standards and
services support under the hood (MusicBrainz, Last.fm radio/scrobbling,
HAL, DBus), yet keeping the details out of the way of the user.
Changes: This is a corrective release to the 0.40.0 release. A bug in
which the library would not update changed files on a rescan was fixed. MB
metadata reading was made fully compliant with the latest specifications.
The dependency on libmp4v2 was dropped due to problems, and appropriate
code was put in place instead. The preferences dialog was made GNOME HIG
compliant.

Communications
Internet
Security
About: GNU SASL is an implementation of the Simple Authentication and
Security Layer framework and a few common SASL mechanisms. SASL is used
by network servers such as IMAP and SMTP to request authentication from
clients, and in clients to authenticate against servers. The library
includes support for the SASL framework (with authentication functions
and application data privacy and integrity functions) and at least
partial support for the CRAM-MD5, EXTERNAL, GSSAPI, ANONYMOUS, PLAIN,
SECURID, DIGEST-MD5, LOGIN, NTLM, and KERBEROS_V5 mechanisms.
Changes: The shared library version was correctly incremented. If GSS-API
and GS2 are disabled, linking to a GSS-API library is no longer performed.

Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: Conversion
Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: Editors
Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: MIDI
About: OrganDesigner is a graphical tool for editing and configuring
virtual pipe organs. OrganDesigner can read SoundFont files and can both
read and write organ description files for use by the virtual organ MIDI
player GENPO. OrganDesigner users can copy, move, and delete stops, both
within and between divisions; use the Stops Editor to change a stop's
name, MIDI bank, program, and velocity; use the Divisions Editor to make
new divisions, change a division's name and MIDI channel, change the order
of divisions, and delete divisions; use the Couplers Editor to add, modify,
and delete couplers; use the Pistons Editor to add, modify, and delete
combinations, and to store and recall the stops set for each piston.
Changes: This release provides "Toe Pistons" compatible with GENPO release
0.9.5. These are buttons that can set the stops on all divisions of an
organ, instead of only a single division. In addition, it has a more
consistent user interface for editing divisions, couplers, and pistons (or
"combinations"). Input of non-ASCII characters may not be working in this
release. Users who need to input non-ASCII characters and do not need toe
pistons should stay with release 1.0.0 for the time being.
