About: Aejaks is a windowing toolkit for rapid development of AJAX-enabled
Web applications. It combines the powerful simplicity of the Tcl language
with the Java-based Echo2 browser-independent windowing system. Aejaks
applications are written in a single scripting language, without need to
write any HTML, Javascript, or CSS. It borrows from the Tk windowing
system, but is not directly compatible with Tk. It runs on top of any Java
Web server, and can make use of any existing Java library.
Changes: New Widgets from EchopointNG: AbleProperties, ComboBox (includes
type-ahead autocomplete), DirectHtml (arbitrary HTML in a DIV),
ExpandableSection, GroupBox, ProgressBar, Slider, and TextFieldEx
(includes client-side regexp validation). New BrowserCommand options:
javascript eval, javascript include, and print. New Clock and NumberGuess
sample apps. Miscellaneous bugfixes and documentation updates.

About: GDC is a utility to calculate compressible flow (Gas Dynamics
Calculator). It provides calculations for isentropic nozzle, isothermal
nozzle, isothermal, Fanno (choke and unchoked), Rayleigh flow, etc. It
also provide calculations for shock and oblique shock by direct
calculations (no iteration, probably the only one that can do it). GDC
also calculates shock dynamics, i.e gas running into a different medium
with different speed. The result are in plain text, LaTeX, or a range of
values.
Changes: An option to present the results in HTML format was added along
with an option to obtain results for both branches. Calculation of Fanno
Flow for many unchoked flows was added. Some parts of the compressible

[019] - GNU ddrescue 1.6-rc1 (Development)
by Antonio Diaz Diaz (http://freshmeat.net/users/ant_diaz/)
Tue, Sep 25th 2007 08:24
System :: Recovery Tools
About: GNU ddrescue is a data recovery tool. It copies data from one file
or block device (hard disc, cdrom, etc) to another, trying hard to rescue
data in case of read errors. GNU ddrescue does not truncate the output
file if not asked to. So, every time you run it on the same output file,
it tries to fill in the gaps. The basic operation of GNU ddrescue is fully
automatic. That is, you don't have to wait for an error, stop the program,
read the log, run it in reverse mode, etc. If you use the logfile feature
of GNU ddrescue, the data is rescued very efficiently (only the needed
blocks are read). Also you can interrupt the rescue at any time and resume
it later at the same point.
Changes: The "--quiet" option also quiets error messages.

Connection tests are performed via HTTP or socket-to-socket modes. The
consistency of data transfer speeds is reported, a key measure of
connection quality. Detailed graphs of all data transferred during a speed
test are produced. VoIP editions test jitter and packet loss, reporting
VoIP quality and load capacity. A server-side database logs all speed test
results. The NOC and Support editions provide remote agent technologies to
identify remote connectivity problems.
Changes: The database now supports searches on country code and ISP with

[040] - rsyslog 1.19.7 (Development)
by Rainer Gerhards (http://freshmeat.net/users/rgerhards/)
Tue, Sep 25th 2007 04:01
System :: Logging
About: Rsyslog is an enhanced multi-threaded syslogd. Among other
features, it offers support for reliable syslog over TCP and RFC 3195,
writing to MySQL databases, fully configurable output formats (including
great timestamps), the ability to filter on any part of the syslog
message, and on-the-wire message compression. It is designed as a drop-in
replacement for stock syslogd and thus is able to work with the same
configuration file syntax. Of course, some enhanced features require
changing the configuration file, but in general, this should be fairly
easy.
Changes: This release features a code cleanup and bugfixes. Feature-wise,
it now supports dropping of NUL characters, which are often found at the
end of invalidly formatted syslog messages. Upgrading to this release is

Software Development :: Interpreters
About: Seed7 is a general purpose programming language. It is a higher
level language compared to Ada, C++, and Java. In Seed7, new statements
and operators can be declared easily. Functions with type results and type
parameters are more elegant than a template or generics concept. Object
orientation is used when it brings advantages and not in places when other
solutions are more obvious. Although Seed7 contains several concepts of
other programming languages, it is generally not considered as a direct
descendant of any other programming language.
Changes: Compiler support for fil_tell, hsh_contains, hsh_excl, and
str_idx was improved. The string indexing (str_idx) was changed to raise
RANGE_ERROR for indices outside of the string. Various spelling errors in
faq.htm, faq.txt, manual.htm, and manual.txt where fixed. The filBigLng,
filBigSeek, filBigTell, and filLng functions were improved to use
_fseeki64 when available. The mandelbr.sd7, chkstr.sd7, chkexc.sd7, and
wiz.sd7 example programs were improved. Protection against a buffer
overflow was added in scrWrite. Several function prototypes were changed

Changes: The rule creation GUI was improved. SmartSieve now stores script
content as serialized PHP data. Look-and-feel was improved with a cleaner
appearance. Support for the sieve body extension was added along with
support for the stop control and the addflag and notify actions. You can
now explicitly set the match type for each condition. New Block Spam and

About: WordPress is a state-of-the-art, semantic, personal publishing
platform with a focus on aesthetics, Web standards, and usability. It was
born out of a desire for an elegant, well-architectured personal
