About: Conary is a distributed software management system for Linux
distributions. It replaces traditional package management solutions (such
as RPM and dpkg) with one designed to enable loose collaboration across
the Internet. It enables sets of distributed and loosely connected
repositories to define the components which are installed on a Linux
system. Rather than having a full distribution come from a single vendor,
it allows administrators and developers to branch a distribution, keeping
the pieces which fit their environment while grabbing components from
other repositories across the Internet.

Utilities
About: Freedup eliminates duplicate files using links and thus reduces the
amount of used disk space within one or more file systems. Freedup searches
all provided file system trees for identical files and links them together.
If the devices differ, a symbolic link is used, otherwise a hard link by
default. Many options allow you to modify the file comparison, the linking
behavior, and the output. The input is either taken from external pipe
input or from an internally generated pipe using find.
Changes: This release provides improved symbolic links, hash function
support under Cygwin, and improved "interactive" dialogues. Some testing

[026] - K3b 1.0.4
by Sebastian Trueg (http://freshmeat.net/users/trueg/)
Fri, Nov 2nd 2007 13:47
Desktop Environment :: K Desktop Environment (KDE)
Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: CD Audio :: CD Writing
About: K3b is a CD and DVD burning application for Linux systems optimized
for KDE. It provides a comfortable user interface to perform most CD/DVD
burning tasks, such as creating an audio CD from a set of audio files or
copying a CD. While the experienced user can influence all steps of the
burning process, the beginner may find comfort in the automatic settings
and the reasonable defaults which allow a quick start. The actual burning
is done by the command line utilities cdrecord, cdrdao, and growisofs.
Changes: This release never uses the growisofs parameter -dvd-compat with
DVD-RW media in restricted overwrite mode. It unmounts the medium before
DVD formatting. It silently (without introducing new strings for
translation) allows the burning of files bigger than 4 GB with appropriate
versions of genisoimage or mkisofs. It only reloads the medium before
verification if necessary, i.e. if the newly written track cannot be read
otherwise (many old drives depend on this). Hopefully this will at least
work around the awful "DMA disabled" bug for many users.

[027] - libsoup 2.2.101
by Rick Vinyard (http://freshmeat.net/users/rvinyard/)
Fri, Nov 2nd 2007 10:13
Desktop Environment :: Gnome
Internet :: WWW/HTTP
Software Development :: Libraries
About: libsoup is an HTTP client/server library. It uses GObjects and the
glib main loop and integrates well with GNOME and GTK+ applications. Since
it is based only on glib, it can also be used in command line and
daemon-based applications. It features both asynchronous (GMainLoop and
callback-based) and synchronous APIs, automatically cached connections,
SSL support using GnuTLS, and proxy support including authentication and
SSL tunneling. Client support includes Digest, NTLM, and basic
authentication, and server support includes Digest and Basic
authentication.
Changes: This release fixes SSL rehandshaking on synchronous sockets, and
adds a regression test for it. It fixes two bugs in HTTPS tunnels over
proxies that require authentication, and adds a regression test for them.
It fixes NTLM authentication. It uses "new" glib base64 and iso8601
methods rather than duplicating them.

Software Development
About: NoMachine NX is a fast terminal server and desktop virtualization
system based on the X11 protocol. NX is an order of magnitude faster than
VNC or X11 and can run on bandwidth as narrow as 10 kBit/sec. In addition,
NX translates and embeds the MS Windows Terminal Server and VNC protocols
into X/NX, enabling users to compress and accelerate remote Windows and
VNC sessions. The NX project provides a suite of libraries and X11proxying
agents implementing efficient compression and optimized transport of X11,
SMB, IPP, HTTP, and arbitrary protocols like audio and video over the
Internet.
Changes: This package provides some enhancements to the administrator's
interface such as the possibility to pre-define, on a per-server basis,
which link type has to be used. This release also fixes a number of minor
issues, such as the inability to insert a username longer than 10
characters and the MODEM link name that may be truncated in the list
displayed to the administrator.

Software Development :: Quality Assurance
Software Development :: Testing
About: zzuf is a transparent application input fuzzer. Its purpose is to
find bugs in applications by corrupting their user-contributed data, which
frequently comes from untrusted sources on the Internet. It works by
intercepting file and network operations and changing random bits in the
program's input. zzuf's behavior is deterministic, making it easier to
reproduce bugs.
Changes: This release allows the user to select which ports are being
fuzzed in network mode. The documentation has been clarified and updated
with more use cases.
