About: ASC is a turn-based strategy game in the tradition of Battle Isle
2/3. It can be played against the computer or against other human players
(either hotseat or by mail).
Changes: This is a major release with a new graphics engine, completely
rewritten user interface, and lots of cool new features. It now also runs
on 64-bit systems and big endian systems.

Sat, Nov 3rd 2007 16:07
Multimedia :: Graphics
About: ALE is an image-processing program used for tasks such as
super-resolution, deblurring, noise reduction, and anti-aliasing. Its
principle of operation is synthetic capture, combining multiple inputs
representing the same scene.
Changes: This release includes new fixed-point configuration options,
improves floating-point performance in certain cases, and resolves a
possible alignment bug.

by aquamaniac (http://freshmeat.net/users/aquamaniac/)
Sat, Nov 3rd 2007 17:36
Office/Business :: Financial
Software Development :: Libraries
About: AqBanking is a modular and generic interface to online banking
tasks, financial file formats (import/export) and bank/country/currency
information. It provides frontends for Qt, KDE, GTK, and console.
AqBanking uses backend plugins to actually perform the online tasks. HBCI,
OFX DirectConnect, YellowNet, GeldKarte, and DTAUS discs are currently
supported. AqBanking is used by GnuCash, KMyMoney,and QBankManager.
Changes: This release fixes some bugs in AqHBCI. It is now more tolerant
when checking the name of a remote signer since the security does not come
from the signer name but from the signature.

event routers, including the open source Avis event router and the
commercial Mantara Elvin product. It fulfills the same role as Mantara's
"je4" library, but is a more modern Java 5 API.
Changes: This release fixes an error that would cause the client to
temporarily stall in some situations while waiting for queued callbacks to
complete.

[006] - Blitz templates for PHP 0.5.7
by Alexey Rybak (http://freshmeat.net/users/alexeyrybak/)
Sat, Nov 3rd 2007 03:19
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Site Management
About: Blitz templates is a fast PHP template engine written in C and
compiled as a PHP extension. It started as a php_templates replacement,
but developed into much more. It is based on extensible template
controllers (custom view classes in PHP) and weakly-active templates
(simple logic in HTML). Benchmarks show that it is one of the fastest
template engines for PHP, even though it's not trivial and makes Web
application closer to a smart MVC-like architecture model with maximal
separation of HTML from your code. It was designed for big high-load
Internet projects with a lot of complex presentation logic.
Changes: Bug and memory leak fixes and some code clean-ups.

About: ccgfs is a transport-agnostic network filesystem using FUSE.
Transport is arranged by helper programs, such as SSH. The PUSH transport
mode acts like a "reverse" NFS and makes it possible to export a
filesystem from a firewalled host without defeating the security model.
Changes: pread and pwrite syscalls are now used and large writes greater
than 8K are properly handled.

About: Clonezilla-SysRescCD is a Linux multi boot backup/restore and
rescue CD, combining "Clonezilla Live" and "SystemRescueCD" in one CD.
Clonezilla-SysRescCD provides both a CD ISO and a tar archive of the
source code to create and customize it yourself.
Changes: The splash screen tool selection interface was changed. A
navigation menu scheme has been adopted. ranish.img was removed from the
CD. The Ranish Partition Manager has been integrated into FreeDos. This is
because of the fact that Ranish Partition Manager would not execute as a
standalone floppy image. "Super Grub Disk" was added to the available
tools. The floppy image provided by "Super Grub Disk" (English version)
has been added to the source tarball.

[015] - gnoMint 0.3.2
by DaveFX (http://freshmeat.net/users/davefx/)
Sat, Nov 3rd 2007 03:00
Security :: Cryptography
System :: Systems Administration
About: gnoMint is a tool for easily creating and managing certification
authorities. It provides fancy visualization of all the pieces of
information that pertain to a CA, such as x509 certificates, CSRs, and
CRLs. gnoMint is currently capable of managing a CA that emits
certificates that are able to authenticate people or machines in VPNs
(IPSec or other protocols), secure HTTP communications with SSL/TLS,
authenticate and cipher HTTP communications through Web-client
certificates, and sign or crypt email messages.
Changes: This version fixes some nasty bugs: the gnoMint databases created
by versions prior to 0.3.1 are now correctly loaded and upgraded. It must
be remarked that these databases, due to a bug in the previous version,
will contain incorrect non-CA certificates, as they all share the same
internal serial number of 0. This is a problem because if any of them is
revoked, the generated CRL will invalidate all the certificates. This way,
renewing all the certificates is recommended, and so is revoking the old
ones.

[016] - gtkmm-utils 0.3.0
by Marko Anastasov (http://freshmeat.net/users/anastasov/)
Sat, Nov 3rd 2007 16:11
Software Development :: Libraries
About: gtkmm-utils is a C++ utility and widget library based on glibmm and
gtkmm.
Changes: All header files have been renamed to *.h. A tile's contents can
now be optionally left-aligned to the image, and its selection signals
have been improved to be emitted from TileView after the selection has
been changed. TileView now avoids connecting to tiles' signals multiple
times. It also does not allow the focus to escape outside itself with the
up and down keys. The Dialog namespace has been removed and the
corresponding functions were renamed. In glibmm-utils, there are a couple
of new string functions. The logging environment variable was shortened to
LOG_DOMAINS.

manager was simplified and the underlying long-term learning algorithm was
further tuned towards higher retention rates. The overall stability was
improved by taking more care of OpenOffice events. OpenCards will now
detect changes in card-sets automatically. The user interface for
last-minute-learning was completely overhauled. A wiki was started on
www.opencards.info, which allows users to share their flashcard files with
other users.

Software Development :: Compilers
Software Development :: Interpreters
About: The Glasgow Haskell Compiler is a robust, fully-featured,
optimising compiler for the functional programming language Haskell. GHC
compiles Haskell to either native code or C. It implements numerous

and so on. GHC comes with a generational garbage collector, a space and
time profiler, and a comprehensive set of libraries.
Changes: Haskell Program Coverage (hpc) support has been added to the
compiler. GHCi now includes a debugger. The first phase of the base
package split has been done. The code generator now uses pointer tagging
(which should mean most code improves by 10-15%, and as a result the
compiler is also faster).
