About: aa2map (ASCII art 2 map) is a tool to parse ASCII art into a Quake
III: Arena (id Tech 3) map file. Everyone who can operate a keyboard can
use this to create custom maps for id Tech 3 based games.

Changes: A --maze[=SIZE] option that generates a random maze was added
along with --emaze[=SIZE], which is like --maze but with random entities.
Support for individual textures was added and many code cleanups were
made.

  Tue, Nov 13th 2007 09:56

Software Development :: Documentation
Text Processing :: Markup :: DocBook
Text Processing :: Markup :: HTML/XHTML

About: AsciiDoc is a text document format for writing short documents,
articles, books, and UNIX man pages. AsciiDoc files can be translated to
HTML and DocBook markups using the asciidoc(1) command. AsciiDoc is highly
configurable: both the AsciiDoc source file syntax and the backend output
markups (which can be almost any type of SGML/XML markup) can be
customized and extended by the user.

Changes: It is now possible to set the DocBook 'lang' attribute.
Admonition, figure, and table captions have been factored into "caption_"
attributes. The spurious warning 'with will become a reserved keyword in
Python 2.6' has been suppressed.

  Tue, Nov 13th 2007 13:30

Communications :: Internet Phone
Communications :: Telephony

About: Auto IVR Dialer automatically dials numbers from a comma-separated
list. On success, it connects the dialed party to the IVR. This uses
Asterisk or Trixbox to initiate calls. It has the ability to initiate
simultaneous multiple calls. It tracks the calls and re-attempts the
failed calls, and this cycle repeats itself until all calls are successful
or stopped by the user. It is useful for running automated campaigns. It
requires Mono or .NET framework 2. It runs on Unix, Linux, Solaris,
Windows, and any other platform compatible with Mono.

System :: Monitoring

About: check_writable is a Nagios plugin that checks if one or more
directories are writable by checking that the supplied directory is indeed
a directory, checking if the the filesystem permissions are OK, creating a
temporary file, writing random data to the temporary file, and reading it
back. It returns a critical status if one of the tests fails.

Changes: version.pm was added in the distribution since the installer
depends on it.

[006] - Dabo 0.8.2
  by Ed Leafe (http://freshmeat.net/users/edleafe/)
  Tue, Nov 13th 2007 23:08

About: Dabo is a three-tier, cross-platform database application
development framework, written in Python with the wxPython GUI toolkit.
The controls in Dabo's UI are easily bound to data by setting two
properties. The business object is designed to afford you complete control
over the validation and handling of your data. The cursor classes are
abstracted from their backend implementations, allowing for easy support
of nearly any backend database. Dabo's design and approach has been
inspired by RAD database development tools such as Visual FoxPro, Delphi,
and Visual Basic.

Changes: The biggest change is the incorporation of Web Update to the
framework, allowing you to receive notice of bugfixes and updates as soon
as they are available, and, if you wish, have those updated files
installed on your machine. There have been lots of usability improvements,
performance enhancements, and, of course, bugfixes.

About: Gizmo Daemon is a program for controlling your computer based on
events from input devices. It has built-in support for all Linux input
devices, including keyboards with special keys, joysticks, remotes, dials,
and more. It lets you control applications, launch programs, change the
system volume, switch desktops, and directly control Amarok. It can
visualize system events (such as Amarok sound output, CPU usage, etc.) on
capable devices (keyboards with LEDs, Griffin PowerMate, etc.). It also
features support for LIRC and RF based remote controls, allowing it to
have per-application key mappings and configurable sensitivity settings.

Changes: This is mostly a bugfix release for an issue that cropped up with
recent versions of xorg where Gizmod would spike the CPU for long periods
of time. However, there are a number of other efficiency fixes as well,
meaning that CPU usage has been decreased across the board. In addition to
the fixes, support for device matching by product and vendor ID codes was
improved. Initial support for the Logitech Momo racing wheel was added.

  Tue, Nov 13th 2007 13:34

Desktop Environment :: Gnome
Desktop Environment :: Tools
Multimedia :: Graphics

About: GPicView is a simple and fast image viewer with low memory usage.
It's aimed at replacing the default image viewer of current desktop
systems. Fast startup, low memory usage, and a simple user interface make
it a good choice for a default viewer. It is extremely lightweight and
fast with low memory usage, has a simple and intuitive interface, minimal
library dependencies (only GTK+ is used), and doesn't require any specific
desktop environment. It was inspired by the Windows XP image viewer and
gimmage.

  Tue, Nov 13th 2007 13:32

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Site Management
Software Development :: Compilers
Software Development :: Pre-processors

About: Stunnix Perl-Obfus is a unique solution for protecting your
valuable intellectual property from possible Perl source code
piracy/studying/rework. It's an advanced and extremely reliable obfuscator
for the Perl source code. It converts the Perl source files (.pl and .pm)
into highly mangled and obfuscated forms, making them extremely difficult
to study, analyse, reuse, or re-work for competitors or customers, while
fully retaining functionality of the original source code. It's not a
compiler to machine code, and the obfuscated form will still be the usual
Perl source code, and so will work on all platforms the original source
worked on.

Changes: The backtick operator is now handled correctly. The algorithm for
generation of new symbol names has been improved: now they are more random.
The Project Manager GUI has been greatly improved.
