[004] - benerator 0.3.03
by Volker Bergmann (http://freshmeat.net/users/vbergmann/)
Sat, Nov 24th 2007 03:01
Software Development :: Testing
About: benerator is a framework for creating realistic and valid
high-volume test data, used for testing (unit/integration/load) and
showcase setup. Metadata constraints are imported from systems and/or
configuration files. Data can imported from and exported to files and
systems, anonymized, or generated from scratch. Domain packages provide
reusable generators for creating domain-specific data such as names and
addresses, internationalizable in language and region. benerator is
strongly customizable with plugins and configuration options.
Changes: This release gives a major performance boost by supporting
multithreaded data generation. Two bugs concerning unique EAN codes and
non-unique regex-based generation were fixed.

[006] - Blitz templates for PHP 0.5.8
by Alexey Rybak (http://freshmeat.net/users/alexeyrybak/)
Sat, Nov 24th 2007 03:08
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Site Management
About: Blitz templates is a fast PHP template engine written in C and
compiled as a PHP extension. It started as a php_templates replacement,
but developed into much more. It is based on extensible template
controllers (custom view classes in PHP) and weakly-active templates
(simple logic in HTML). Benchmarks show that it is one of the fastest
template engines for PHP, even though it's not trivial and makes Web
application closer to a smart MVC-like architecture model with maximal
separation of HTML from your code. It was designed for big high-load
Internet projects with a lot of complex presentation logic.
Changes: A possible double free on include and double Blitz object
initialization was fixed. English documentation was updated with sample
fixes, getGlobals, getContext, getIterations, getStruct, predefined
variables in loops $_even/$_odd/etc., and $object.property/$hash.key
variables.

[008] - C++ Regex Engine 1.08.00
by unr_stuart (http://freshmeat.net/users/unr_stuart/)
Sat, Nov 24th 2007 15:24
Text Processing
About: C++ Regex Engine provides a robust regular expression library for
use in C++. The syntax of the regular expression language is very close to
the Perl 5 standard. The classes given somewhat mirror those found in
Java's regular expression library, but have several improvements. The
intended audience of this package is anyone who does a lot of data parsing
(e.g. sysadmins), people tired of trying to decipher Perl scripts, and
regular expression beginners who know C++. Some knowledge of the STL's
vector and string will come in handy, but isn't necessary.
Changes: There was a large problem wherein non-possessive quantifiers
within an OR were not backing-off or consuming properly. This has been
fixed. For the time being, Unicode is no longer "officially" supported.
All bugfixes are still being merged into the Unicode files, but not all
Unicode functionality has been properly tested.

Communications :: Chat
Internet
About: ctrlproxy is an IRC server with multiserver support. It runs as a
daemon and connects to a number of IRC servers, then allows you to connect
from a workstation and work as the user that is logged in to the IRC
server. After you disconnect, it maintains the connection to the server.
It acts like any normal IRC server, so you can use any IRC client to
connect to it. It supports multiple client connections to one IRC server
(under the same nick), allowing you to connect to IRC using your IRC nick,
even while you have an IRC session open somewhere else. It supports logging
(in any user-specified format), password authentication, and CTCP (in case
no clients are connected). IRC servers can be contacted over IPv6 and/or
using SSL. Automatic identification with NickServ is supported, as well as
various types of backlog.
Changes: Several crash bugs have been fixed. The configuration file syntax
has been simplified. Management can now also be done using a separate
command-line tool. Coverage of the IRC protocol has been extended.

message passing protocol system over TCP/IP between two or more nodes. It
can monitor node faults based on interface polling status, health sanity
node status, and messages passed through an external plugin attached to a
plugin module. Node faults or state change events can be handled through
external programs or TCP/IP notification.
Changes: Code cleanups.

[039] - SportsTracker 3.1.0
by ssaring (http://freshmeat.net/users/ssaring/)
Sat, Nov 24th 2007 03:02
Database
Information Management :: Records Management
About: SportsTracker is an application for recording sporting activities.
It is not bound to a specific kind of sport, as categories can be created
for all sport types, such as cycling, running, or tennis. The main
advantages are the good overview of your exercises and the easy creation
of exercise statistics for specific time ranges and sport types. Users of
heart rate monitors (Polar and CicloSport) can import, display (including
diagrams), and organize the recorded exercise data.
Changes: The exercise parsers now use a new interface and dynamic loading.
New parser implementations can be added easily like plugins. The file
chooser now remembers the last chosen directory. Most of the libraries
were updated and all known bugs were fixed. Performance tips were included
in the readme file for Linux users (client JVM mode).

[040] - Sunifdef 3.1.2 (Stable)
by Mike Kinghan (http://freshmeat.net/users/imkinghan/)
Sat, Nov 24th 2007 03:10
Software Development
Software Development :: Build Tools
Software Development :: Pre-processors
About: Sunifdef is a command line tool for eliminating superfluous
preprocessor clutter from C and C++ source files. It is a more powerful
successor to the FreeBSD 'unifdef' tool. Sunifdef is most useful to
developers of constantly evolving products with large code bases, where
preprocessor conditionals are used to configure the feature sets, APIs or
implementations of different releases. In these environments, the code
base steadily accumulates #ifdef-pollution as transient configuration
options become obselete. Sunifdef can largely automate the recurrent task
of purging redundant #if logic from the code.
Changes: Five minor bugs were fixed.

[041] - TarTheft 1.0
by hadji (http://freshmeat.net/users/hadji/)
Sat, Nov 24th 2007 15:11
System :: Archiving
About: TarTheft is a system for archiving based on the central idea of
client and server "refs": keys based on both filename and content of that
file to access the archive. TarTheft coexists with version control on the
client to store the refs, their path information, and meta-data. The
server can use the version control system to store multiple versions of
the files on tape, but is not dependent on it.
Changes: The program was completely rewritten. The archiving is based on
client and server references (crefs and srefs). A portable client in
Python (GUI and console) was added for uploading and downloading and
managing crefs. servett is an automation daemon for tape library control.
gettape and mktape are tape hardware scripts (based on mt/mtx).

[042] - ziproxy 2.4.1
by Daniel Mealha Cabrita (http://freshmeat.net/users/dancab/)
Sat, Nov 24th 2007 02:59
Internet :: Proxy Servers
Internet :: WWW/HTTP
About: Ziproxy is a forwarding (non-caching) proxy that gzips text and
HTML files, and reduces the size of images by converting them to lower
quality JPEGs. It is intended to increase the speed for low-speed Internet
connections and it's suitable for both home and professional usage. Ziproxy
is fully configurable and also features transparent proxy mode, preemptive
name resolution, operation in either daemon mode or (x)inetd mode, a
detailed access log with compression statistics, basic authentication, and
more.
Changes: A crash bug while processing certain JPEG files was fied. Support
for load balancing for outgoing HTTP requests was added along with support
for logging of interrupted/crashed transfers. Other minor improvements
were made.
