[001] - Aranea framework 1.1-RC1 (Development)
by Taimo (http://freshmeat.net/users/taimo/)
Thu, Feb 7th 2008 20:05
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks
About: Aranea is a hierarchical Model-View-Controller Web framework that
provides a common, simple approach to building Web application components,
reusing custom or general GUI logic, and extending the framework. The
framework enforces programming using object oriented techniques with POJOs
and provides a JSP tag library that facilitates the programming of Web GUIs
without writing HTML. In addition to being a full-fledged Web framework in
its own right, it provides a powerful and simple component system that
allows the framework to be tailored by configuring the reusable modules
and adding modules only for the missing features.
Changes: The flow navigation API is easier to customize by using
TransitionHandlers. ListSqlHelpers recognizes NamingStrategies which
reduce boilerplate code when constructing queries. FormElement validation
messages can be rendered outside of MessageContext.

by Rio Astamal (http://freshmeat.net/users/c0kr3x/)
Thu, Feb 7th 2008 13:41
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: HTTP Servers
About: astahttpd is a modular Web server for Linux written in pure PHP,
mainly targeted for PHP developers. It supports alias directories, URL
rewriting, Basic and Digest authentication, gzip and deflate content
encoding, virtual hosts (IP and name based), CGI script processing,
bandwidth limiting, and add-on modules.
Changes: Digest authentication. A modular architecture. Currenly available
modules: mod_auth_basic, mod_auth_digest, mod_bandwidth, mod_cgi_header,
mod_cgi, mod_encoding, mod_rewrite, mod_status, and mod_vhost. Bug
#1887560 (CGI header was not handled properly), bug #1885235 (errors not
properly handled on external gzip), and bug #1885216 (missing compression
level on external gzip) have been fixed.

[004] - BlueProximity 1.2.2 (Stable)
by Lars Friedrichs (http://freshmeat.net/users/highno/)
Thu, Feb 7th 2008 07:35
Desktop Environment :: Gnome
Desktop Environment :: K Desktop Environment (KDE)
Desktop Environment :: Tools
About: BlueProximity helps add a little more security to the desktop. It
does so by detecting a certain Bluetooth device, most likely a mobile
phone, and keeping track of its distance. If it is moved away from the
computer and the distance is above a certain level (no measurement in
meters is possible) for a given time, it automatically locks the desktop
(or starts any other shell command wanted). Once away, the computer awaits
its master's return: if the device is nearer than a given level for a set
time, the computer unlocks without any interaction (or starts any other
shell command wanted).
Changes: The rfcomm scanner now really works. Now every button works as
expected. The translations for French and Swedish were removed. An Italian
translation was added.

[013] - DBIx::Perlish 0.37
by Grrrr (http://freshmeat.net/users/Grrrr/)
Thu, Feb 7th 2008 06:54
About: The DBIx::Perlish module provides the ability to work with
databases supported by the DBI module using Perl's own syntax for the four
most common operations: SELECT, UPDATE, DELETE, and INSERT. By using
DBIx::Perlish, you can write most of your database queries using a
domain-specific language with Perl syntax. However, the module is not
intended to replace all use of SQL in your program. The DBIx::Perlish
module quite intentionally neither implements nor cares about database
administration tasks like schema design and management.
Changes: Global scalar variables are now understood in query subs.

[016] - Elixir 0.5.1
by Gaetan de Menten (http://freshmeat.net/users/gedeon/)
Thu, Feb 7th 2008 10:12
Database :: Front-Ends
Software Development :: Libraries :: Python Modules
About: Elixir is a declarative layer on top of SQLAlchemy. It is a fairly
thin wrapper that provides the ability to define model objects following
the Active Record design pattern, and using a DSL syntax similar to that
of the Ruby on Rails ActiveRecord system. It does not intend to replace
SQLAlchemy's core features, but instead focuses on providing a simpler
syntax for defining model objects when you do not need the full
expressiveness of SQLAlchemy's manual mapper definitions.
Changes: This is mostly a bugfix release (especially for people using
inheritance), but it also has a few minor new features, including a new
plugin for managing entities as (ordered) lists, enhanced support for
custom base classes, and an alternate (nicer) syntax to define synonym
properties.

[020] - Gecode 2.0.1
by Guido Tack (http://freshmeat.net/users/odiug/)
Thu, Feb 7th 2008 06:51
Software Development :: Libraries
About: Gecode is a portable, accessible, and efficient environment for
developing constraint-based systems and applications. Gecode is radically
open for programming, meaning that it can be easily interfaced to other
systems. It supports the programming of new propagators (as implementation
of constraints), branching strategies, and search engines. New variable
domains can be programmed at the same level of efficiency as finite domain
and integer set variables that come predefined with Gecode.
Changes: This release fixes three serious bugs in search (LDS, Restart,
and assignment branchings), and some more minor problems. Users are highly
encouraged to upgrade.

by Manuel Lemos (http://freshmeat.net/users/mlemos/)
Thu, Feb 7th 2008 06:44
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content :: CGI Tools/Libraries
Software Development :: Libraries :: PHP Classes
About: HTML Forms generation and validation is a PHP class that generates
HTML forms supporting many built-in validation types on server and client
sides. It prevents security attacks by discarding spoofed values, has
multiple submit protection, outputs HTML for fields displayed as fully
accessible or in read-only mode, and has field value filtering and
reformatting. It can be extended with custom control plug-ins. AJAX based
form submission, upload monitor progress bar, auto-complete text input,
automatic layout renderer, calendar date, CAPTCHA, Google Maps world
location selection, linked select, and animation effects plug-ins are
available.
Changes: The generation of JavaScript strings was optimized to produce
more compact strings with characters that need to be escaped. A unit test
script was added verify whether the generation of JavaScript strings is
correct. The Google maps location custom input was enhanced to support the
use of custom icons and omitting the initial map center coordinates. Its
HTML output was also optimized to generate less JavaScript code when there
are many markers to display. Several types of minor bugs oin the main forms
class were fixed.

[047] - QMC2 0.1 final
by Prian (http://freshmeat.net/users/prianthefist/)
Thu, Feb 7th 2008 06:49
System :: Emulators
About: M.A.M.E. Catalog / Launcher II (also referred to as QMC2) is the
successor of one of the first XMAME GUI frontends available, QMamecat
(derived from MAMECAT, which was text-only). QMC2 has been rebuilt from
scratch as a Qt 4 project. Parts of the design and code were inspired by
its predecessor. The new design was made as flexible as possible to
minimize dependencies from frontend- and CLI-related MAME changes, which
was a major deficiency of QMamecat. QMC2 uses a template-based MAME
configuration scheme, which can easily be enhanced with additional command
line options (defined in an XML template file).
Changes: In addition to bugfixes and improvements, an XML gamelist data
cache was added to speed up loading of -listxml output from MAME. Obsolete
samples and image files were removed. Home, End, and Esc were added to the
list of remappable GUI control keys. The about dialog was improved with a
new QMC2 logo and a system information summary screen.

About: System Configuration Collector (SCC) is yet another configuration
collector. It consists of a client and a server part. The client collects
configuration data in a structured snapshot, compares the new snapshot
with the previous one, and adds differences to a logbook. Then the
snapshot and the logbook are converted to HTML for local inspection.
Optionally, the data can be sent to a system running the server software.
On the server, summaries of the data are generated, and search/compare
operations on the snapshots and logbooks are available via a Web
interface.

Software Development
Software Development :: Code Generators
Software Development :: Compilers
About: XSD is a W3C XML Schema to C++ translator. Provided with an XML
instance specification (XML Schema), it generates C++ classes that
represent the given vocabulary as well as parsing and serialization code.
You can then access the data stored in XML using types and functions that
semantically correspond to your application domain rather than dealing
with elements, attributes, and text in a direct representation of XML such
as DOM or SAX. XSD features support for in-memory and stream-oriented
processing models, comprehensive XML Schema feature coverage, easy
integration, and more.
Changes: For the in-memory C++/Tree mapping, the file-per-type compilation
mode has been implemented in addition to file-per-schema. Support for
IntelliSense has been added, the ability to choose the identifier naming
convention used in the generated code has been implemented, non-copying
modifier functions have been added, and new binary serialization examples
have been written. For the event-driven C++/Parser mapping, the
file-per-type compilation mode has been implemented in addition to
file-per-schema and support for XML Schema polymorphism (xsi:type and
substitution groups) has been added.
