Software Development :: Interpreters
Software Development :: Libraries

About: Ctalk provides object oriented programming features, like classes,
methods, operator overloading, and inheritance to otherwise standard C
programs. You can use only a few objects and classes in a program, or you
can write programs entirely in Ctalk. The package provides a translator

run-time support for class objects. The preprocessor, ctpp, is also
available separately, and the package includes sample programs and
documentation.

Changes: This release adds improvements in the method application
programming interface, including a more reliable constructor calling
protocol, more method return protocols, better internal support for
Collection classes and GNU C attributes, as well as several bugfixes.

for re-syncing to the network after resuming from suspend, displaying
processes associated with a specific pty, backing up the key system config
files, making an archive of the current working directory, and more.

Changes: This major release focuses on the addition of ~/.futilrc support.
Now, global values can be registered in the user's ~/.futilrc file and
safely persist between futil releases, instead of being hard coded in the
scripts themselves. The following new scripts and files were added:
dumpschema, dumptables, tables2html, syserr, httpcode, spinchild,

  Sat, Feb 9th 2008 02:47

Software Development :: Code Generators
Software Development :: Compilers

About: gtkaml is an XML syntax and an XML parser that extends the
Vala.Parser and transforms all your XML tags into a valid Gtk+ UI class.
It features a compact XML syntax for describing the way Gtk widgets are
laid out in a (new) custom widget you're creating. Code "islands" (written
in Vala) are used for widget signal handling and other
methods/signals/properties that you're introducing. It doesn't depend on
an external library at run-time, and it is much more readable than the
usual UI boilerplate.

Changes: A segfault where a g_strjoinv () was called without a last NULL
was fixed along with a bug with signal handling that missed most
parameters. GtkTreeViewColumn was added as a container in implicits.ini.
Reference tags were added. ',' was changed into ';' in implicits.ini for
GtkTreeView.

About: Himerge is a GUI for emerge (Gentoo's Portage system) written in
Haskell using gtk2hs. The main idea is to simplify browsing the entire
portage tree, and allow running the most basic and common options from the
emerge command. It also offers several handy tools, like global and local
use flags browsers, inspired by UFED (the Gentoo Linux USE flags editor).
It also uses eix (a small utility for searching ebuilds with indexing for
fast results) as a back-end command to show package information in
HTML/CSS format, so you can access a package's Web site for a quick
glance.

Changes: A full view of the control panel is allowed. Support was added
for showing the action type to be processed for each package inside the
"Queue" windows. An important bug on the UseFlag browser was fixed. The
speed of some processes was slightly improved. The cabal file was improved
so it can use the sdist cabal option for packaging.

Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks
Software Development :: Quality Assurance
Software Development :: Testing

About: Jameleon is an automated testing framework that can be used by
technical and non-technical users alike. One of the main concepts behind
it is to create a group of keywords or tags that represent different
screens of an application. All of the logic required to automate each
particular screen can be defined in Java and mapped to these keywords. The
keywords can then be organized with different data sets to form test
scripts without requiring an in-depth knowledge of how the application
works. The test scripts are then used for both testing automation and test
case document generation.

Changes: 34 bugs were fixed and 46 features were added, including a new
Watij plug-in and totally revamped HTML results.

pipe, device (terminal or modem, etc.), socket (Unix, IP4, IP6 - raw, UDP,
TCP), SSL, a client for SOCKS4, or proxy CONNECT. It supports broadcasts
and multicasts, abstract Unix sockets, Linux tun/tap, GNU readline, and
PTYs. It provides forking, logging, and dumping and different modes for
interprocess communication. Many options are available for tuning socat
and its channels. Socat can be used, for example, as a TCP relay (one-shot
or daemon), as a daemon-based socksifier, as a shell interface to Unix
sockets, as an IP6 relay, or for redirecting TCP-oriented programs to a
serial line.

Changes: This release fixes lots of bugs with zombie processes, service
name resolution, higher FD numbers, and more.

[029] - Task Coach 0.69.0
  by Frank Niessink (http://freshmeat.net/users/fniessink/)
  Sat, Feb 9th 2008 17:53

Office/Business :: Scheduling

About: Task Coach is a simple todo manager to manage personal tasks and
todo lists. It grew out of a frustration that well-known task managers,
such as those provided with Outlook or Lotus Notes, do not provide
facilities for composite tasks. Often, tasks and other things to do
consist of several activities. Task Coach is designed to deal with
composite tasks.

Changes: This release makes it possible to repeat tasks on either a daily
or a weekly basis and to add notes to categories. It also contains a
number of other changes and bugfixes.

Office/Business
Security
Security :: Cryptography

About: TrueCrypt is on-the-fly disk encryption software that can create a
virtual encrypted disk within a file and mount it as a real disk. It can
also encrypt an entire hard disk partition, or a storage device such as
USB memory stick. It supports plausible deniability.

Changes: A Mac OS X version is now available. The Linux version now
includes a graphical interface, and has been redesigned to no longer be
affected by kernel changes. Support for XTS mode, which is faster and more
secure than LRW mode, was added. The SHA-512 hash algorithm replaced SHA-1.
Many other minor improvements, bugfixes, and security enhancements were
made. Upgrading to this version is strongly recommended.

Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks

About: WSO2 WSF/Spring provides an amazingly simple "Code First" approach
to create Web services for the Spring user. This framework integrates the
Apache Axis2 Web services engine into Spring. Thus, it provides all the
power and versatility of the Axis2 engine to the Spring user. With just a
few entries in the application context, this lets Spring users enjoy the
benefits of Service Oriented Architecture using Web services in their
applications.

Changes: This release candidate supports exposing Spring services through
the IOC container, editing Axis 2 booting configuration through the IOC
container, automated WSDL generation of Spring services, querying a
service's WSDL, schema, and policies. Axis2 modules can be deployed
(WS-Addressing, WS-Security, etc.) through the classpath.

[034] - yeaGTD 35
  by Dan Graham (http://freshmeat.net/users/dgraham/)
  Sat, Feb 9th 2008 17:47

Information Management
Office/Business :: Scheduling

About: yeaGTD is an acronym for "yaml encoded approach to getting things
done". It is a script which extracts information from simple text files,
one for each project, and then produces nicely formatted summary reports.
Flexible rules can be used to specify repeated projects. Context, project,
and date views are supported and output can be filtered in a variety of
ways. Output can optionally be printed or sent to standard output in
several formats. Commands are provided for marking tasks complete, opening
files for editing, and backing up project files.

Changes: The command line interface was improved. It is now possible to
create both tasks and projects from the command line, the latter using a
wizard-like series of prompts for project details and to move tasks from
one project to another. Minor bugs were fixed.

[035] - Yet Another RSS Aggregator 1.1.00
  by Ronald Landheer-Cieslak (http://freshmeat.net/users/blytkerchan/)
  Sat, Feb 9th 2008 17:53

Software Development

About: Yara (Yet Another RSS Aggregator) is a fast, embeddable RSS
aggregator and parser. It exposes a very simple C API. It uses the Expat
XML parser and templates for rendering. It does not download files itself,
as most frameworks come with easy-to-use methods to do so. A stand-alone
RSS viewer is included.

Changes: This release adds support for RSS feed generation, with a
Generator class and a C API. This was developed for inclusion as a plug-in
in RetroShare (http://retroshare.sf.net) to post OFF-Url-Links of the
http://offsystem.sf.net to Web logs and boards with RSS.
