About: Envoy is a stand-alone database for file associations and MIME
types. You can easily set and change file associations in one central
location, and keep existing settings between different software. The core
functionality is implemented in a shared library for easy access from any
other software. It supports launching any file from a program with just
one function call.
Changes: A bug that prevented changing directories in the file selection
dialog has been fixed. This release uses message boxes instead of printfs
for errors. Viewing/editing selection when associating handlers has been
added. libenvoy has functions for getting and setting the default handler.
This release automatically creates the database if it doesn't exist instead
of getting the user to do it. This release does not auto-detect and

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content :: CGI Tools/Libraries
Software Development :: Libraries :: PHP Classes
About: HTML Forms generation and validation is a PHP class that generates
HTML forms supporting many built-in validation types on server and client
sides. It prevents security attacks by discarding spoofed values, has
multiple submit protection, outputs HTML for fields displayed as fully
accessible or in read-only mode, and has field value filtering and
reformatting. It can be extended with custom control plug-ins. AJAX based
form submission, upload monitor progress bar, auto-complete text input,
automatic layout renderer, calendar date, CAPTCHA, Google Maps world
location selection, linked select, and animation effects plug-ins are
available.
Changes: The calendar date custom input plug-in was enhanced to allow
hiding the day input, assuming default value for the day. Dates may be set
to the value "now" as an alias of the current date. The main class was
fixed to format error messages correctly when several inputs are invalid
and the class is set to show all error messages at once.

Communications :: Email :: Mail Transport Agents
Communications :: Email :: Post-Office :: IMAP
About: Kolab is a groupware system that provides a comprehensive and
flexible solution for workgroups. Email, contacts, and group calendars
can be managed via the Web, Windows/Outlook, and Linux/KDE. It supports
offline synchronization and full seamless support of mixed client
environments because the Kolab-XML storage format is fully open and avoids
MAPI/TNEF.
Changes: Since 2.2 beta 2, the Kolab server has provided a Web client that
supports all the groupware features known from Outlook and Kontact. Thus,
users are less dependent on their local client and can access their
groupware data from anywhere in the world, provided they have a standard
browser available. All packages except for openldap and db were upgraded
to OpenPKG-CURRENT (as of 20080118).

[031] - LanguageTool 0.9.2
by Daniel Naber (http://freshmeat.net/users/dnaber/)
Mon, Feb 18th 2008 11:00
About: LanguageTool is a style and grammar checker that currently supports
English, German, Polish, and Dutch, and offers initial support for other
languages like French and Spanish. It scans the words and their
part-of-speech tags for occurrences of error patterns, which are defined
in an XML file. Furthermore, more powerful error rules can be written in
Java. LanguageTool should be used after the spelling of a text has been
corrected.
Changes: In OpenOffice.org, LanguageTool is now part of the "Tools" menu.
It is now distributed as an *.oxt file so you can install it by
double-clicking on it. Preliminary support for Swedish has been added, and
several other rules have been improved.

[033] - libmemcached 0.16
by Brian Aker (http://freshmeat.net/users/briantangentorg/)
Mon, Feb 18th 2008 05:31
Software Development :: Libraries
About: libmemcached is a C client library for interfacing to a memcached
server. It has been designed to be light on memory usage, thread safe and
to provide full access to server side methods. It also implements several
command line tools: memcat, memflush, memrm, memstat, and memslap (for
load generation). The library has been designed to allow for different
hashing methods on keys, partitioning by keys, and to use consistent
hashing for distribution.
Changes: Work was done on the UDP protocol. get_by_key and set_by_key
tests were added for the C++ API. limit_maxbytes was fixed to be 64-bit in
stats. Servers are now sorted, meaning that servers are now ordered so that
clients with the same lists will have same distribution.
MEMCACHED_BEHAVIOR_SORT_HOSTS was added to enable this support. The
MEMCACHED_BAD_KEY_PROVIDED error was added for auto, set, and get
operations. MEMCACHED_BEHAVIOR_VERIFY_KEY was added to enable this
feature. More error messages are produced by the command line tools. Bugs
in the memcached_cas() operator were fixed.

Education
About: RapidMiner (formerly YALE) is a flexible Java environment for
knowledge discovery in databases, machine learning, and data mining. Many
nestable learning and preprocessing operators (including Weka) are
provided. It features an XML-based graphical user interface, a plugin
mechanism, and high-dimensional plotting, and provides an easy-to-use
extension mechanism that makes it possible to integrate new operators and
adapt the system to your personal requirements. A command line version is
also included.
Changes: This release is mainly a bugfix release. In particular, two
errors which caused unusually high memory consumption for some data mining
processes were fixed. More precise data representations are also used
again, since too many rounding errors occurred. In total, about additional
30 bugs were fixed compared to version 4.1beta and it is therefore highly
recommended to change to this version instead. Additionally, some
improvements for plotting and some new operators were added.

[048] - rsyslog 3.11.3 (Development)
by Rainer Gerhards (http://freshmeat.net/users/rgerhards/)
Mon, Feb 18th 2008 09:02
System :: Logging
About: Rsyslog is an enhanced multi-threaded syslogd. Among other
features, it offers support for on-demand disk buffering, reliable syslog
over TCP, writing to databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, and many more),
fully configurable output formats (including great timestamps), the ability
to filter on any part of the syslog message, and on-the-wire message
compression. It is designed as a drop-in replacement for stock syslogd and
thus is able to work with the same configuration file syntax. Some enhanced
features require changing the configuration file.
Changes: This is a bugfixing release. The most important fix is correction
of the kernel log format. It had duplicated fields, which made it quite
ugly and also could cause confusion to both humans and scripts. Other than
that, there are also a few minor documentation fixes and some stability
updates. This version is a recommended update for all v3 branch users.

Desktop Environment :: Window Managers
About: Sawfish (the window manager formerly known as Sawmill) is an
extensible window manager using a Lisp-based extension language. All
window decorations are configurable and all user-interface policy is
controlled through the language. Its aim is to manage windows in the most
flexible and attractive manner possible. As such it does not implement
desktop backgrounds, application docks, or other things that may be
achieved through separate applications. Sawfish is mostly GNOME-compliant;
almost all configuration may be made through a graphical interface.
Changes: Window titles with UTF-8 are working now. There are no more
OpenOffice crashes. Pango fonts are handled correctly. The running theme
is informed when the window title length has changed, so the theme can
adjust and work around some problems with KDE not always using the
freedesktop.org protocol in the KDE tray.

Security :: Cryptography
System :: Networking
About: strongSwan is a complete IPsec and IKEv1 implementation for Linux
2.4 and 2.6 kernels. It also fully supports the new IKEv2 protocol with
Linux 2.6 kernels. It interoperates in both IKEv1 and IKEv2 mode with most
other IPsec-based VPN products. The focus of the strongSwan project is on
strong authentication mechanisms using X.509 public key certificates and
optional secure storage of private keys on smartcards through a
standardized PKCS#11 interface. A unique feature is the use of X.509
attribute certificates to implement advanced access control schemes based
on group memberships.
Changes: IKEv2 rekeying in NAT situations did not inherit the NAT
conditions to the rekeyed IKE_SA so that the UDP encapsulation was lost
with the next CHILD_SA rekeying. Wrong type definition of the next_payload
variable in id_payload.c caused an INVALID_SYNTAX error on PowerPC
platforms. The IKEv2 EAP-SIM server and client test modules were
implemented, which use triplets stored in a file. For details on the
configuration, see the scenario "ikev2/rw-eap-sim-rsa".

commercial alternatives, it is designed for long games supporting
universes as large as your computer can handle. It allows a high degree of
player customization, and features a flexible technology system where new
technologies may be introduced mid-game.
Changes: Large parts of the client have drastically changed. Connecting to
game servers is simplified. The new user interface enables you to more
