Software Development

About: NoMachine NX is a fast terminal server and desktop virtualization
system based on the X11 protocol. NX is an order of magnitude faster than
VNC or X11 and can run on bandwidth as narrow as 10 kBit/sec. In addition,
NX translates and embeds the MS Windows Terminal Server and VNC protocols
into X/NX, enabling users to compress and accelerate remote Windows and
VNC sessions. The NX project provides a suite of libraries and X11
proxying agents implementing efficient compression and optimized transport
of X11, SMB, IPP, HTTP, and arbitrary protocols like audio and video over
the Internet.

Changes: This version, which collects and consolidates all the changes
made on the 3.1.0 branch so far, also ensures that NX Server, during the
reboot, is able to perform a proper clean-up of its sessions DB and
introduces some cosmetic changes such as a more compliant name for the
Statistics DB used by NX Server Manager.

email messages. It supports decoding single RFC 2822 MIME messages or
archives that aggregate multiple messages in the mbox format. It can
decode messages read from files or data strings. The bodies of multipart
messages can be decoded into distinct sub-messages. Optionally, the
message body data can be saved to separate files, so the class can handle
messages larger than the available memory. The parser can tolerate some
syntax errors in malformed messages that are not compliant with RFC 2822.

Changes: The class now correctly handles messages that mix different types
of line breaks.

[027] - PHP SOAP Toolkit 0.6.1

Internet :: WWW/HTTP
Software Development :: Code Generators
Software Development :: Libraries :: PHP Classes

About: PHP SOAP Toolkit is a comprehensive SOAP library for PHP 5. It
provides WSDL parsing and template-based code generation for client,
server, and data types for contract-first Web services. It wraps the
native PHP SOAP client and server, and uses WS-Helper to provide
code-first Web services.

Changes: Doc/lit wrapped parameter names are now generated properly.
Document-Literal is no longer broken when you try to use WSDL mode on
client side. The presence of the XSL extension is checked before creating
the documentation page. Array handling was changed from SOAP-ENC (using
..Array types) to XSD (minOccurs/maxOccurs in-line). Static Create
(factory) functions are added on a generated client class. Downloaded WSDL
is added to generated client code.

[034] - SciTE-debug 0.9.1
  by Steve Donovan (http://freshmeat.net/users/stevedonovan/)
  Thu, Apr 10th 2008 06:32

Software Development :: Debuggers

About: Scite-debug is an extension for the popular SciTE editor which
allows several debugger backends to be used. Breakpoints can be set
visually and values evaluated by tooltip, etc. Currently, C/C++ (gdb),
Lua, and Python are fully supported. There is experimental support for
Java and Mono.

Changes: When running GDB, scite-debug will now try to dereference any
pointer values automatically wherever possible. It is now possible to
debug shared libraries where the host program has no debug symbols. As a
special but important case, integrated Lua/C debugging is supported; it is
now possible to step from Lua into C code.

  Thu, Apr 10th 2008 00:10

Scientific/Engineering :: Image Recognition
Scientific/Engineering :: Mathematics

About: Shared Scientific Toolbox in Java is a library of quality
lightweight components for scientific/distributed computing that includes
the first true multidimensional array package in Java, a parallel data
flow engine, an asynchronous sockets layer, an annotation-driven class
loader, and more.

Changes: A Win32 build is now supported. It contains precompiled DLLs with
statically-linked FFTW3. shared.net.SynchronousConnection was introduced,
which is built on top of the asynchronous networking layer, but supports
synchronous behavior with blocking input/output streams. The SST source is
now Java 1.5 compatible. Take note that it still links to some methods
(i.e., java.util.Arrays#copyOf) that are in JDK 1.6 only. Color maps for
intensity images were introduced. The license terms and assigned
copyrights were updated.

Internet :: WWW/HTTP

About: Squidwall is a small and very fast squid redirector. It enables the
administrator to build an easy-to-use Web interface for controlling user-,

pages containing obscene content with an advanced phrase weighting system
like Dansguardian. It supports pass-through antivirus scanning with
clamav, banner filtering, whitelisting and blacklisting via regular
expressions or string comparison based on URLs and/or content. The default
Web interface can be used by teachers for disabling, enabling, or filtering
access to the Internet.

Changes: There are some fixes in connection handling. If your ClamAV
installation is on a remote server, this release is for you.

[038] - Strasheela 0.9.4
  by Torsten Anders (http://freshmeat.net/users/tanders/)
  Thu, Apr 10th 2008 13:43

Multimedia :: Sound/Audio

About: Strasheela is a highly expressive constraint-based music
composition system. Users declaratively state a music theory and the
computer generates music which complies with this theory. A theory is
formulated as a constraint satisfaction problem (CSP) by a set of rules
(constraints) applied to a music representation in which some aspects are
expressed by variables (unknowns). Music constraint programming is
style-independent and is well-suited for highly complex theories (e.g. a
fully-fledged theory of harmony). Results can be output into various
formats including MIDI, Lilypond, and Csound.

Changes: The output facilities to Lilypond are greatly revised in this
release. Strasheela now outputs the format of Lilypond 2.10.0, supports
various special cases (e.g. single staff polyphony, chords, enharmonic
notation, and basic tuplets), and the customisation options have been
extended. New examples demonstrate these features. In addition, this
version facilitates composition in 22-tone equal temperament: various 22
ET chords and scales are provided, and output to Lilypond, as well as
Csound, is supported. Other additions and bugfixes have been made to the
system.

Changes: The main novelty of this release is the expansion of the
manage-by-e-mail functionality. Users can add issues and to-dos (document
and appointments) by sending e-mail to Teamwork. Other small improvements
were made to make maximum upload size configurable and to provide feedback
on missing e-mails. Some minor bugs were fixed.

About: The Machine Emulator, or tme, provides a general-purpose framework
for computer emulation. The goal is to create a large library of modules,
each emulating a specific computer chip, bus, board, etc. These modules
offer standard interfaces that allow you to connect them together to
create a whole machine emulation with a minimum of effort.

Changes: This release can emulate a Sun 2/120 running NetBSD, a Sun 2/120

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: HTTP Servers

About: Wt is a C++ library for developing Web applications with an API
that is widget-centric and inspired by existing C++ graphical user
interface APIs. To the developer, it offers complete abstraction of any
Web-specific implementation details. Under the hood, the library uses the
latest techniques (AJAX) to handle user events and update the Web page.

Changes: This version introduces a unified vector graphics paint system
which, depending on the browser, renders using inline VML, inline SVG, or
the HTML 5 <canvas> element. Substantial performance improvements were
made in various places, resulting in a speed up of between 2 to 10 fold,
depending on the situation. Minor new features include the new classes
WTableRow and WTableColumn, dynamic loading of CSS rules, style sheets,
and JavaScript files, support for <ul> based WMenu rendering, support for
the ARM/uClibc platform, improved zlib/openssl detection for Win32, and
many bugfixes.
