by Simon Kagstrom (http://freshmeat.net/users/sys2066/)
Sun, Apr 13th 2008 08:16
Software Development :: Code Generators
Software Development :: Compilers
Software Development :: Libraries
About: Cibyl is a programming environment that allows compiled C/C++
programs to execute on J2ME-capable phones. Cibyl uses GCC to compile
programs to MIPS binaries, and these are then translated into Java
bytecode. The use of binary translation and the simplicity of translating
MIPS instructions means that Cibyl programs can be quite well-performing.
With Cibyl, programs written in C/C++ can be ported to J2ME without
switching languages.
Changes: An ELF symbol size bug has been fixed. There are 64-bit host
compile fixes. A C++ build issue on target has been fixed. The call tables
for function pointer calls now only contains functions that are possible
call targets from function pointers. Some code refactoring has been done.

[013] - ctrlproxy 3.0.6
by Jelmer Vernooij (http://freshmeat.net/users/jelmervernooij/)
Sun, Apr 13th 2008 17:15
Communications :: Chat
Internet
About: ctrlproxy is an IRC server with multiserver support. It runs as a
daemon and connects to a number of IRC servers, then allows you to connect
from a workstation and work as the user that is logged in to the IRC
server. After you disconnect, it maintains the connection to the server.
It acts like any normal IRC server, so you can use any IRC client to
connect to it. It supports multiple client connections to one IRC server
(under the same nick), allowing you to connect to IRC using your IRC nick,
even while you have an IRC session open somewhere else. It supports logging
(in any user-specified format), password authentication, and CTCP (in case
no clients are connected). IRC servers can be contacted over IPv6 and/or
using SSL. Automatic identification with NickServ is supported, as well as
various types of backlog.
Changes: Configuration files are now checked for valid setting names.
Performance has been improved significantly. Several more IRC commands and
responses are now handled properly. Outgoing SSL connections have been
fixed. A large number of bugs have been fixed.

[014] - D-BUS 1.2.1
by Sir Logic (http://freshmeat.net/users/danwillett/)
Sun, Apr 13th 2008 23:59
Software Development :: Libraries
About: D-BUS is a message bus system; a simple way for applications to
talk to one another. It supplies both a system daemon (for events such as
"new hardware device added" or "printer queue changed") and a per-
user-login-session daemon (for general IPC needs among user
applications). Also, the message bus is built on top of a general
one-to-one message passing framework, which can be used by any two apps
to communicate directly (without going through the message bus daemon).
Changes: This version compiles under some older versions of glibc, and
compiles without X support once again. A stuck server grab if dbus-launch
is run in an existing D-Bus X session was fixed. Various Mac OS X build
fixes were added. The broken poll call is not used on Mac OS X. Better
checks for linker flag support should allow D-Bus to link under various
linkers. exit_on_disconnect is set after the connection registers with a
bus so the program doesn't exit if it gets a disconnect during the
handshake. Dicts now work correctly with dbus-send. The inotify backend is
now less aggressive.

[015] - Database Bean Generator 2.1.4
by jespo (http://freshmeat.net/users/jespo2005/)
Sun, Apr 13th 2008 17:02
Database
Software Development :: Libraries :: Java Libraries
About: Generator is a command line application to facilitate the
construction of small applications that need some database objects. It
isn't a replacement for complex object persistence solutions, like
hibernate or TopLink, but it covers a different target: the little Java
Web applications that don't use sophisticated persistence options.
Generator invocation is simple: just type java -jar generator.jar -xml,
where the config file is an XML config file with the definitions to
connect to the database and generate the bean classes. You can also use
the Ant task.
Changes: Diverse code cleanups prior to the next version. Moved to
Subversion in Sourceforge.

[019] - Enchant 1.4.0
by Sir Logic (http://freshmeat.net/users/danwillett/)
Sun, Apr 13th 2008 17:04
Software Development :: Libraries
About: Enchant is a cross-platform abstract layer for spell-checking. It
is a meta spell-checking framework. It recognizes that different
languages often require radically different tools and alogrithms to
spell-check and correct. It also takes into account that systems often
have a radical host of spell- checking software installed. It provides a
standard C API/ABI for all of its backends, while allowing multiple
backends to be loaded and used at once.
Changes: Voikko (Finnish) language support. Zemberek (Turkish) language
support. Better support for Unicode in the personal dictionaries. Personal
dictionaries offer better suggestions. OpenOffice's dictionaries are used
on Windows. Aspell works on Windows. This release can use a system-wide
Hunspell/Myspell installation on Unix-like platforms. Hunspell 1.2.1 and
NET bindings are required. This release has more lax language matching
rules. It uses XDG's data-dirs spec for locating dictionaries. There are
many unit tests and bugfixes.

[021] - flashdist 20080411
by Chris Cappuccio (http://freshmeat.net/users/chrisc/)
Sun, Apr 13th 2008 12:35
System :: Installation/Setup
About: Flashdist is an embedded OpenBSD installer for flash disks, hard
disks, and pseudo disks. It keeps the entire system mounted read-only
during normal operation for minimal chance of failure. It installs an
entire set of system utilities and manual pages (targeted towards
networking features) in less than 32MB of disk or flash space. The
distribution list can be customized to target other applications, or to
use even less space.
Changes: /etc/rc is fixed so that /dev/log is created again (this was
broken in the /dev mfs move as of flashdist 2007/11/05). Past versions of
growimg.sh wrote only to a new vnd image. The script now supports the use
of any attached disk as a target. It writes directly to flash during
file-by-file transfer. Thus, growimg now runs as quickly as flashdist
itself.

by John Dickson (http://freshmeat.net/users/captsens/)
Sun, Apr 13th 2008 01:11
Software Development :: Quality Assurance
About: JCR is a Web application for performing and managing code reviews.
Although it has some special logic for reviewing Java projects, it can be
used for reviews of any type of source code. JCR manages all stages of the
review process (initial project setup, individual review, joint review
meeting, post-review tidy-up), but it's mainly there to show diff views of
files that have changed and to allow comments to be made on any line of any
file marked for review.
Changes: This release contains a number of tidy-ups and fixes after the
major 0.6.0 rewrite. JCR now works correctly with SQLAlchemy versions
later than 0.4.0. Failure to view modified files if the JCR base directory
was not under the working directory was fixed. A couple of minor features
were added, namely templates for project notes and a working backup script
for sysadmins. Some minor bugs were fixed. The Project Admin Summary tab
page is automatically reloaded when diffs have completed generation.
