Database
Documentation
Information Management
About: AgileWiki is meant to create software systems which are fluid,
easily configured and can be reorganized on-the-fly to meet ever changing
requirements. It includes a COW-based database, the Rolonics programming
paradigm, and semantic inferencing.
Changes: DTDs were written for RoleML scripts and responses. A logoff
command was added for Browse. The browse commands elements,
setWellknownName, keywordMatches, adoptFork, and wellknownFork have all
been fixed.

[002] - ALE 0.9.0 (Testing)
by David Hilvert (http://freshmeat.net/users/dhilvert/)
Tue, Apr 15th 2008 00:32
Multimedia :: Graphics
About: ALE is an image-processing program used for tasks such as
super-resolution, deblurring, noise reduction, and anti-aliasing. Its
principle of operation is synthetic capture, combining multiple inputs
representing the same scene.
Changes: This testing release allows multiple alignments per input frame
and adds an option for specifying resident sizes for loaded images,
allowing more efficient management of backing stores. The current stable
branch may offer more reliable performance and results.

[003] - aurora framework 0.9.4.1
by Oktay Acikalin (http://freshmeat.net/users/TheBlackLion/)
Tue, Apr 15th 2008 13:10
Database :: API
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
About: aurora framework is a slim modular MVC framework written in PHP
5.2+ for rapid development of Web or console applications featuring an
integrated database API, template logic, pretty URLs,
internationalization, caching, data models, and a multi-layered file tree.
Changes: Some work has gone into internal cleanup, thus concentrating on
bugfixes and making corners round. A new sub-directory called helpers has
formed, and contains basic routines for handling test diffs, JSON, YAML,
XML, and CSV quite easily. All assert methods have gone into an assert
helper, allowing you to write, for example, assert::equal ( $a, $b ). The
test case and signals examples have also been updated to show the new API.

[004] - BeleniX 0.7
by Moinak (http://freshmeat.net/users/moinakg/)
Tue, Apr 15th 2008 00:49
System :: Operating System
About: BeleniX is a distribution based on the version of OpenSolaris that
runs on x86 machines. It comes as a live CD and includes all of the
OpenSolaris components (core kernel, libraries, and utilities) and also
includes additional GNU/OSS software. BeleniX is a full fledged OS
distribution that can be installed and used as a regular desktop system.
Changes: BeleniX is now a source level derivative of Project Indiana.
Image Packaging is still in the works. This release is installable to the
hard disk with a ZFS root. A full 64-bit kernel and libraries are
included. KDE 3.5.8 was integrated and themed with the KDM SMF service. ON
Build 81 was synced. Additional software can be installed via the
/usr/bin/get-pkgs utility. The Gtk-Qt theme engine provides Qt theming for
GTK+ apps.

[005] - Butterfly Container 2.1.9-beta
by Jakob Jenkov (http://freshmeat.net/users/jjenkov/)
Tue, Apr 15th 2008 10:40
About: Butterfly Container is a Java dependency injection container. It is
smaller (~100KB jar), yet more flexible and easier to use than Spring,
Pico, and Guice (at least in the developers' opinion). Instead of XML,
Butterfly Container is configured using a simple, flexible, Java-like
configuration language, or by plugging plain non-annotation,
non-reflection Java factories into the container. There are no external
dependencies.
Changes: This release makes it possible to replace factories in the
container at runtime. Factories that reference the replaced factory will
automatically be updated to reference the new factory. The factory
replacement feature is handy when unit testing a component using mock
objects. Replace a real factory with a mock object factory to test if the
component uses this collaborator (the mock object) correctly.

[006] - C++ Sockets 2.2.9a
by Grymse (http://freshmeat.net/users/ah7207/)
Tue, Apr 15th 2008 07:49
Communications
System :: Networking
About: C++ Sockets is a cross-platform C++ wrapper for BSD-style sockets.
It implements the TCP, UDP, ICMP, and SCTP transport layer protocols.
Implemented application layer protocols are HTTP/HTTPS (using OpenSSL),
SMTP (server), and Ajp/1.3 (server). Features include transparent SOCKS4
client support and asynchronous DNS. Included in the library are a number
of HTTP client functions such as GET/PUT/POST, and also Web server
framework components.
Changes: A problem in which HttpdForm sometimes got stuck in an infinite
loop was fixed. An assignment operator was added on the HttpRequest class.
Locking is done using a const Mutex, and Mutex was modified to work when
const. Utility::Uri was added, which can be used for parsing of an URL.

[007] - clearhealth 0.1 (CHMobile For iPhone)
by clearhealth (http://freshmeat.net/users/clearhealth/)
Tue, Apr 15th 2008 00:31
Office/Business :: Financial
Office/Business :: Scheduling
Scientific/Engineering :: Medical Science Apps.
About: ClearHealth is a practice management system and EMR. It takes DNA
from the FreeMED and OpenEMR projects, is based on the smarty templating
engine, and uses the FreeB2 medical billing engine. It includes support
for medications, SOAP data entry, clinical reporting, e-prescribing, and
much more. It includes support for the iPhone and iPod touch.
Changes: This release defaults to using the demo.clear-health.com site.
This can be changed through the
/Applications/CHMobile.app/Connection.plist file. The schedule tab now
expects "simple_provider_report". The Labs module was enabled. Some known
issues remain: selecting the Transcription or Pictures button crashes the
application, and sections load slowly as each button completely
reinitializes that section. The icons are currently hideous, too big, and
strange.

[008] - ColorExplorer 1.8
by Bill Poser (http://freshmeat.net/users/billposer/)
Tue, Apr 15th 2008 00:38
Multimedia :: Graphics
Software Development :: User Interfaces
About: ColorExplorer is a tool for exploring the color space and finding
out how colors, color names, and numerical color specifications are
related. The user can specify a color by selecting its name from a list of
color names, by adjusting sliders that control the mixture of red, green,
and blue, by entering a numerical color specification, by copying it from
the history list or elsewhere on the display, or by requesting a random
color. The numerical specification of the current color and an example of
that color are shown in a pair of adjacent boxes. The color name list may
be searched by entering a regular expression or by requesting the closest
match to the current color.
Changes: This release detects Tcl/Tk 8.5 or later under X11 and adapts
font sizes appropriately. It makes cosmetic changes to the About and Help
popups and adds program and system information. The license is now GPL
version 3. Executables for major platforms are now available.

Software Development :: Libraries
About: CookieCheck is a basic PHP script for checking whether a visitor
has cookies enabled or not. Its design makes it simple to include into an
existing script: just include the source file and call the check function.
CookieCheck preserves the values of any GET or POST information sent to
your script, so it does not require any major modifications to your
original script.
Changes: This release includes some minor bugfixes and enhancements. It
also rolls in the 1.0 security-fix-1 patch which fixed a potentially
serious security vulnerability with the default session save path.

Communications :: Email :: Address Book
Communications :: Email :: Email Clients (MUA)
Communications :: File Sharing
About: eGroupWare is a Web-based groupware suite. It contains many
modules, including Calendar (personal calendar and group scheduling,
notifications and alarms), Mail (IMAP only), InfoLog (todos, notes, and
phone calls linked to contacts/CRM), Contacts (an address book for storing
and sharing contact information), ProjectManager, Tracker (bug or incident
tracking), TimeSheet, SyncML support, and SiteMgr or JiNN (content
management).
Changes: Everyone should update as soon as possible. The update includes
all previous 1.4 updates, and requires no schema update (if you upgrade
within the 1.4 release). The fixed security problems are grave if you have
directories writable by the Web server in your document root (in most
Windows servers, the complete docroot is writable by default, but many
Linux servers are also set up that way). Please note: as FCK contains many
static Javascript and CSS files, you and your users might have to delete

Scientific/Engineering
Scientific/Engineering :: Chemistry
Scientific/Engineering :: Visualization
About: Fityk is nonlinear curve-fitting and data analysis software. It
allows data visualization, separation of overlapping peaks, and least
squares fitting using standard Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm, a genetic

by Rainer Gerhards (http://freshmeat.net/users/rgerhards/)
Tue, Apr 15th 2008 07:37
System :: Logging
About: Rsyslog is an enhanced multi-threaded syslogd. Among others, it
offers support for on-demand disk buffering, reliable syslog over TCP,
writing to databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, and many more), email
alerting, fully configurable output formats (including high-precision
timestamps), the ability to filter on any part of the syslog message,
on-the-wire message compression, and the ability to convert text files to
syslog. It is a drop-in replacement for stock syslogd and able to work
with the same configuration file syntax.

[044] - SILVERCODERS SqlSync 1.0.0-rc1
by silvercoders (http://freshmeat.net/users/asmarzewski/)
Tue, Apr 15th 2008 10:59
Database
Software Development :: Libraries
About: SILVERCODERS SqlSync gives you the ability to compare data stored
in two SQL databases and synchronize it. The results contain a list of
records that differ, records that are missing, and records that are
additional. It can generate SQL queries to make the second database
identical to the first, and can execute them automatically. It will
synchronize selected objects in databases or whole databases. You can
control the process using command line arguments, and the results are both
readable and easy to use for future processing with shell scripts. A C
language library allows comparing databases from other applications.
PostgreSQL 8.1.x, MySQL 5.0.x, FirebirdSQL 1.5.x, Microsoft SQL Server
2000, Microsoft SQL Server 2005, and Oracle 10g are supported. The two
databases being compared can be driven by two different SQL servers.

System :: Filesystems
About: synDirectory is used to retrieve and sort the current work
directory list of of files. It opens the current directory and retrieves
the list of files and sub-directories into separate arrays. Since it may
be listing the directory where this package was installed, the package
files are excluded from the listing. The arrays with the files and
directories may be sorted by name, file size, file type, or last modified
date. The package comes with a configuration file to help the user
customize the output further. It is also possible to skin the output via
CSS.
Changes: The license was changed from the GPL to an MIT-style license.
This permits the use of this program within proprietary software. Three
new configuration options (via config.php) provide the ability to hide the
"Last Modified" row, the ability to hide the "Size" row, and the ability to
hide the directory statistics line at the bottom. The synDirectory.txt file
is now correctly hidden by default.

About: ThermonucleotideBLAST is a software program for searching a target
database of nucleic acid sequences using an assay specific query that is
based on biochemical assays (i.e. a pair of oligonucleotide sequences
representing PCR primers or Padlock probes, a triplet of oligos
representing PCR primers and a TaqMan probe, or a single oligo
representing a hybridization probe). Unlike existing programs (i.e.
BLAST) which use heuristic measures of sequence similarity for
identifying matches between a query and target sequence,
ThermonucleotideBLAST uses free energy and melting temperature.
Changes: This update features a significant rewrite of thermodynamic
alignment algorithm, including the addition of the Dinkelbach fractional
